What a fantastic place to eat!!! Friendly service, we had a full 3 course meal: Starters: Oysters: some for the softest juiciest oysters I’ve ever had! Scallops and Crispy samphire: My wife said it was possibly the best starter she’d ever had, it did taste amazing! Mains: Whole plaice with burnt butters sauce: Juicy and cooked to perfection, thin fries were the perfect accompaniment particularly when dipped in the butter sauce!😂 Storms famous Fish curry: Amazing fish in an amazing sauce with Aromatic rice! Dessert: Lemon Curd Tart & Spiced Apple Crumble: both were faultless and as you would expect! The young waiter, who we thought was rushed absolutely rushed off his feet, was excellent, his table timing impeccable and thoroughly deserved his tip! Definitely a 10/10 and when we return to the area it’s a definite return visit. One thing did make us laugh tho, the wine. I know restaurants make their money from wine, we chose what looked like a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which turned out to be one of our favourites from our local supermarket!😂 let’s just say it’s definitely not £27 a bottle! Like I said, it made us giggle! A thoroughly enjoyable evening!!!

Went with hubby daughter and our younger son, who has a milk allergy, before seeing a show. Ate early and it was lovely and quiet, another table arrived and looked like other tables ready for later on too. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was beautiful. The order did get a little muddled but they sorted it. We all loved our meals and our son loved his sea-bass and my ribeye steak was faultless! Hubby said his curry was delicious and daughter said her chilli jam with her squid was homemade. A really nice evening in the restaurant and will definitely go again!

We came here on 2 July and just had the most wonderful dinner! Don't be put off by the rather dark exterior, this is a really great place and the food is fabulous. We were welcomed by the delightful staff and the lady in charge, Cat, looked after us so beautifully. The thing that struck us most of all was the freshness and high quality of the ingredients - my husband's starter came with tomatoes but they were so sweet he said that he had never had tomatoes that were tasted so good in the UK! We chatted to the chef Mike afterwards who was obviously so passionate about his job and putting together interesting flavours, and using locally sourced ingredients. We would really recommend this restaurant. Cat pointed us in the direction of Tin of Sardines (a gin bar where a friend of hers works) afterwards so we finished off the evening with a delicious cocktail there. A great night out

First time in this restaurant and booked because we like seafood. Both meals were good with generous proportions, but despite there being few diners when we arrived, service was extremely slow. The couple who arrived after us seated adjacent, gave their order and then after a good while upped and left. We waited and waited for the bill and then noticed that we had been charged for a full bottle of wine rather than the glass my wife had. No apology, but what seemed like a well rehearsed "finger must have slipped on the wrong button" reply.

The waitress was very sweet and helpful even though she highlighted they were under-staffed. The only reason for a two star review instead of one. The food was a big disappointment. The crab croquettes were lacklustre and bland. There was a pitiful 4 squid rings on the plate, and they were effectively a garnish for the salad. I've never seen so few for a starter. Scallops were rubbery. We were told after a 40ish minute wait for our mains that they were out of the Moules Marinere as the chef and only just chosen to let the waitress know. We then had longer to wait as we had to order something else. The seafood linguine had multiple strings of rosemary left in it and was generally bland, though the pasta did taste fresh. The Pan-Fried Seabass was seasoned well and was a generous portion. One plate looked ok, but the other (maybe because they were in a rush) just had the fish dumped on their with no effort for presentation. The dauphinoise potatoes were incredibly average and we only realised after we left that there was no white wine sauce served with it, even though it was on the menu. So, so disappointed in the quality of the food considering the other reviews.

We are firstly extremely sorry and pained to hear such a negative experience that you had whilst dining with us. Whilst we can assure you that our team is trained and adhere to the highest standards, and our chef team have a considerable amount of experience, we apologise that you felt that your food did not meet your specifications all dishes are cooked, prepared and plated up according to the menu specification and if those specifications are not met then they will not leave the kitchen until they have been met. In terms of the wait on food, we of course do apologise for that however, given the current circumstances in the hospitality industry with the lack of staff across all areas on the sector due to the impact of various lockdowns, test and trace, isolations and other factors because of the pandemic, we as with majority of other restaurants and dining establishments are currently running with minimum staff rosters. This is why we explain on all of our menus and in person upon ordering your meals and/or drinks that there may be a wait on food during busy periods. Once again we do apologise profusely for any negative experiences you have had and hope that this does not cloud any judgement for your next visit. Regards, Storm Management Team

We've visited Storm in the past and enjoyed it, so back we went again. The first surprise was that it was empty - not a good sign. The waiter was pleasant, and noticed when we needed more bread with our starters - good sign! There were three meals ordered. Number 3 came out a little while after the first two, so by the time we started eating, the first two were pretty cold. The hake was a bit dry - could have done with some sort of sauce? The chard was overcooked and there was only a small taste of golden beet puree. The lemon sole was rather overcooked. We decided to go for puddings, but were disappointed by the portion size, particularly considering the price. I felt sorry for the waiter, who was trying his best, but was dealing with a poor product. It's unlikely that we'll be returning to this restaurant in the near future.

Had two friends down for the weekend. Was told that 'Storm' was one of the best fish restaurants in Poole. When we arrived on a Saturday evening it wasn't particularly busy and didn't seem to have a great atmosphere. First thing we noticed was that the table was incredibly sticky and unpleasant. Pointed this out to the waiter who said it was due to the varnish finish. (I have three solutions to this: sand down the table, provide table cloths or change the tables.) Waiter took our food and drinks order order and it took twenty minutes before wine arrived. Although the bottle of white wine arrived in a cooler it was not chilled. What excuse it there to serve non chilled wine in a fish restaurant.? Waited further twenty minutes before different waiter asked what we had ordered. So for what ever reason we had to give our selections again. My friend chose fish of the day which was now not available, although previous waiter had not mentioned this. Waited further twenty minutes before first course arrived. Food was ok but not spectacular. My seafood Liquinie was average and came in a sauce which reminded me of Heinz tin spaghetti . My friend had whole sea bass which he said was very nice. There's obviously something going on in the background at this restaurant and I am sure it could be so much better if it tried harder.

I had made a dinner reservation many weeks ago for 7th September. On arrival they had no record of it, but we were given what seemed to be the only free table. People on the next two tables had been waiting for some time for food, and had been only served bottles of un-chilled white wine up until then. One couple said they'd leave if food was not forthcoming. After half an hour we still had not had our order for drinks or food taken, so I approached the girl at the bar counter about it, and she said she'd forgotten about us. Service was non-existent and people were waiting so long for food, and as it was well past 8:15pm I said I can't wait as it would be 10:00pm by the time any food would be ready. My wife and I upped and left! We ended up eating late at a quayside restaurant, where the service was so efficient. There appeared to be some behind the scenes problems at Storm, and I've never experienced such a shambles. Storm - I hope you have sorted yourselves out by now or you will surely go out of business! I am the son of a restaurateur, so I should know.

We went to this restaurant last night, we have been waiting for a long time to go there. We arrived promptly at 7.15 and the restaurant was full. We ordered our drinks and food together but noticed the service around the tables was very slow, especially the table next to us, a family with two young children, who looked fed up as the parents were trying to keep them occupied, albeit they were just hungry and should have been given their food more promptly. Eventually one meal for the Dad came out, followed by a good 45 mins later with the other meals! There was one waitress and one waiter (who was the Manager) serving the whole restaurant and outside, making drinks and serving tables. Not sure how many chefs, we saw one. This simply wasn’t enough staff, they were working their ‘socks off’ but every table was complaining, the wait was ridiculous. Just as a guide, we ordered about 7.30pm, we received our starter at 9.00pm and our main meal at 9.45pm as there was fewer tables by then. The table the other side of us declined pudding due to the wait, it was such a shame. We would have preferred to be warned of the long wait due to staff shortage, so we could choose to leave or go when we arrived. This simply wasn’t just last night, the reviews previous have experienced these staff shortages over the last few weeks. Owners, please don’t leave your staff short, the Manager, received complaints from every table last night. He done the best he could, but you can’t simply leave them to operate like that again.

We haven’t visited Storm for a while and I couldn’t believe how much it has changed! This restaurant has always had a good reputation; I’m not sure what has happened! Starters were ok. Before I ordered the main (linguine), I asked the waitress if the sauce was tomato based or creamy, she said ‘creamy’. To my surprise a tomato based pasta arrived, to which I asked her about and she looked confused implying it wasn’t normally like that. The linguine is bland and very similar to Heinz spaghetti. I ate about 1 spoonful and left the rest. Waitress didn’t seem concerned food was left and asked if I was finished and wanted dessert. Training definitely needed for the staff. With a menu a small as the one on offer, you would think every dish on there was good. We will not be returning again.

We visited this restaurant pre-Covid and were absolutely bowled over by the quality of the cooking and an exciting menu. We took old friends visiting from afar last night and were a little disappointed by a rather unimaginative menu. The catch of the day dish of plaice cooked with caper butter was perfect. We were not hurried and there were long waits between courses which I prefer as we like to take our time over a meal and enjoy the experience. However when it came to desserts, everything had sold out from an already very limited menu and the only choice on offer were ice creams or a very disappointing over-sweetened sundae. This may seem like a pretty 'first-world' complaint, but I think that if you are paying a lot of money to eat out, you want something better than what you can cobble up at home. Unfortunately, the toilets were in pretty dire state with loo paper and paper towels strewn all over the floor and over flowing bins. I wish this restaurant well as a lot of what they are doing is good, but it needs to get more of the basics right.

Went for our anniversary on Saturday evening and it was extremely disappointing and we ended up on a bench on the quay eating chips!! Our starters came out, I had what was supposed to be Bruschetta this was actually uncooked white baguette and my partner should've had rye bread but also had the same uncooked white baguette - we let this go. Then the mains came out after waiting 45mins. Both our fish were overcooked and dry. What was supposed to be sautéed potatoes were boiled new potatoes. The sauce had split and tasted of cheese and the Med veg were a very soggy courgette, carrots and parsnip also what was supposed to be spinach was in fact kale!! We had to send dishes back and go hungry. Overall nowhere near restaurant quality especially considering prices charged.

Th food: outstanding oysters, lovely pint of prawns only that quantity fell short of a pint and the Marie Rose sauce was a (very lovely) peri peri Mayo; crab croquettes had no discernible crab in them and can with. Sour cream throw sauce not a mango based sauce; chips were piping hot and tasty; scallops were great, bread with olive oil was I der asked. Wine was cool so was the beer. The service was entirely overwhelmed: inexperienced; understaffed. The chap behind the bar (owner?) wore a bright red shapeless Tshirt over building site shorts and scuffed trainers. We spent far too long waiting for our food (thankfully a selection of starters Only), the atmosphere in the place got so charged due to the wait times that I asked my partner how much longer it would take until there was a riot … it took5 mins longer until 2 whole tables walked out and the remaining co diners looked like taken hostage. We left satisfied and happy, but also a little as if we had a lucky escape - we had overall a good experience and those oysters would tempt me to come again - maybe just for a plate of 18 of them …

Trading under the reputation of the previous owners who were a justifiable award winning restaurant. However, under the new owners their attention to detail and product knowledge were severely lacking though perfectly pleasant enough but lack those essential Front of House skills as I think a Weatherspoon’s could have done better. The food was presented well and tasted good once the cutlery arrived but the wine ordered was not what was described by the waiter and there wasn’t any detailed description on the menu which was difficult enough read as the font size was micro As a frequent diner of restaurants my final litmus test is the cleanliness of the toilets as you can usually judge how dedicated an independent or high end restaurant is as part of its all round experience…. Again, badly let down in both ladies and gents with the ladies still having the remnants of the residual works to fixture and fittings. Both men’s and ladies had not been serviced probably since earlier in the day or if at all. I did not want to be so harsh on what used to be a pleasure to visit prior to the Covid pandemic but I can’t see this place trading on it previous owners success when you can’t maintain that hight standard and quality.

Hi Omega, Firstly, let me extend our apologies for your negative experience you had. We would like to get to the root of the issues here. First and foremost, what aspect of the wine did not match the description on the menu? We train and uphold the highest standards of operation with all members of staff when it comes to service that includes our kitchen and front of house team. When you compare and mention that front of house skills are lacking, we would like to talk more in depth about this in particular what aspects and how they are lacking. In terms of cleanliness of our toilet facilities, we do again uphold the highest standards and they are checked thoroughly at the start of each service and indeed at the end including replenishment of stock. We are sorry to hear that throughout the evening after the use from multiple users that the cleanliness did decline slightly. In terms of fixtures and fittings, they were all installed and are of high quality so again, we would like to hear more about how in particular said fixtures and fittings did not meet specifications. Please contact us on 01202674970 or email us on storm-restaurant@outlook.com so we can discuss this more in further depth. Regards Storm Management Team

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Storm last week. The menu changes regularly, but we had: Starters: 2 oysters, scallops with samphire and radhishes, moules mariniere Main: plaice fillet with brown butter, fries and seasonal veg, seafood linguine The scallops were cooked beautifully and the oysters were very fresh. All portions were enormous, we couldn’t finish it all. We had a bottle of Picpoul and were looked after very well by the staff.
