Visited today with my good wife and enjoyed a Sunday roast. The pub was busy but the service was great. My wife had the roast pork with 'to die for' crackling. I had the roast beef but cannot eat a lot so went for the small portion (reduced the 2 courses from £18.50 to £14). The food was quickly served and was hot and a selection of extra vegetables was served despite there being 4 vegs on the plate. The beef was perfectly roasted and tasted great and the pork was well cooked. Main course was followed for herself an orange light sponge covered with dark chocolate .... yummy. I had the cheese board, 2 cheeses, biscuits, celery, grapes, butter and chutney. I had a cool Guiness and my wife a lemon and lime. We were not rushed, had plenty of room and were well served. Not bad for less than £40. Will visit again to try the fish.

Myself and my partner visited for lunch on Saturday, the pub was busy which was great to see. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door and were promptly shown to our table and asked if we wanted to order drinks which we did. The drinks were delivered quickly and in a safe manner. Our waitress greeted us when she went past the table and was very friendly. Although she was clearly very busy running around she was soon back to take our order. The food arrived within a reasonable amount of time considering how busy they were and it was delicious! My partner had the duck which was cooked perfectly to his specification and I had the chicken burger which was lovely! Good value for money and we will definitely be back :)

Our first visit to this wonderful venue for a Valentines Day lunch ❤️. The location is a little odd, a 16th century building in the middle of a retail park. But don’t let that put you off. Once inside the historical character and log burner create the perfect atmosphere.
We had not booked and the place was busy but the staff made us very welcome and were found a table straight away. The food was perfect we had the Duck breast & seafood languine followed by Ginger cheesecake and chocolate orange sponge. All served perfectly by excellent staff.
So glad we found this little gem tucked away on a retail park. We will definitely be paying another visit soon 👍

Lunchtime treat today with my partner. I was shocked and disappointed when my veggie meal. Chickpea and red pepper burger came sandwiched with bacon. This was upsetting as you imagine. When it was pointed out, the burger was exchanged for another replacement burger. We could not then eat together and my meal was not very hot when it came back. I eat a small amount and left the rest. I did point this out at the time of paying bill, but was not offered a discount. An apology from a manager and deducting the meal from the bill would have been good practice I think. Safe to say we won't be using The Hankridge Arms again.

Visited for Sunday lunch having seen the advertised menu on line - to find that it wasn’t available. Offered Beef or Pork which took forever to come and which, when they did, was both cool and lacking in quantity! Waitresses were slow and the male supervisor showed no skills on hospitality. Over very disappointing - overpriced for what you get and not an experience to worry about repeating

Thank you for your feed back. I don't understand if it was so bad why you didn't complain on the day?
If you had we could have put it right, however you seem to think its ok to complain on here!
These sort of reviews are making small business go under, please say something on the day.
Kind regards

Four of us visited last night for a meal, welcomed by a friendly girl when we first arrived and then it went down hill. The girl serving the table with our food was first class but the chap who I think is the manager was totally rude and refused us the second drink around 9.15pm when we all knew that we had to be out before 10pm. I now things are not nice in these strange times but if u want customers then things have to change. This isn't the first time but it will certainly be the last

Reserved table for 6 of us at 7.45pm, on arrival when given the menus we were told 5 of the dishes from the main courses where not available as sold out!!! Leaving us a very limited menu to choose from. Baring in mind it's a Friday night, run up to Christmas & the tables were pre booked why would a restaurant of this size be so short of food??. However, what food we did have was very good. Also, there was a member of staff (male with glasses) who made us feel unwelcome & had a hostile attitude both to us & in general throughout the evening. As a result of this we would hesitate in revisiting.

Thank you for your comments.
We are sorry we had sold out of a few items but it is a very busy time of year and as you can imagine we don't always get it right on our ordering, as its a little bit of guess work what items are going to sell.
Regarding the member of staff, he is our front of house manager and this time of year he's always running around and may have come across as being hostile but i can assure you he's not and sorry you felt this way.
Thank you very much for your feed back as it is much appreciated. Kind regards.

Appalling and disgraceful.
Special occasion - food was beyond unacceptable,
Starter :- Asked for balsamic for focaccia starter and was presented with vinegar and told that was all they had!
Then for mains :- Who would have thought a sharing £75 platter would be presented with burnt items on it and Med steak would have slices underneath that were BLUE, sauce cold and had a bitter unsavoury taste.
Also, another dish had old hard slices of luke warm old potatoes and not once did anyone attempt to ask how our meal was until they came to remove plates…
Not impressed nor would recommend ( unless you want a sandwich or potion of chips)!!!

Hi,
I have spoken to the team about this visit.
You were originally in the bar and you asked to move into the dining room which we accommodated,
No where on the menu does it mention balsamic dressing so your server was correct in saying we dont have it as we don't have it stocked.
You have failed to mention that your onion loaf was replaced and the complimentary bottle of wine.
i'll just leave it at that.

Had a brilliant time celebrating a birthday party. Pre ordered 18 meals some of which were specially catered for off the menu and all meals were delivered at the same time. Very impressed and the food was lovely. Appreciate the work the staff and chef went to to pull this event off so smoothly. I also appreciated the efficient response to the numerous emails sent prior to the event. Very reliable and will go again.

Found the staff a little surly. Initially we were served the wrong starters, mistakes happen I understand that. The main course was average, not enough vegetables for 4. My friend chose a dessert, only to be told they had run out. My husband ordered the cheese and biscuits and it looked as though mice had been at it,a miniscule amount of cheese on the plate and the waiter whipped it away without bothering to ask if he'd finished! All in all not a great Sunday lunch for the money. We won't be back

Had Sunday lunch and the portions and service were excellent. Food was great as well the only negative being my lamb was overcooked so a bit tough in places, my husband’s pork was perfect. They had run out of the dessert I ordered which was a shame but the substitute was good. Having said all that it was good value for money and we will be back.

Stumbled across purely by chance as it is surrounded by superstores. Let that not deter you though, his was a GREAT find. Good food, decent ales and very pleasant staff. Dog friendly which helped as well,
Really enjoyed the meal; some dishes are on the pricey side, but cheaper meals are available.
Will defiantly return

I really love the food at this lovely little pub, but today left me feeling a little underwhelmed, although I opted for the light menu by having the ploughman’s lunch I didn’t expect for £13 to only get a tiny breadboard with two pits of different cheeses some ham and a boiled egg. All as you would expect, but it only came with a tiny ramekin of piccalilli half a pickled onion, and two slices of bread, not whole slices, so no salad, no apple, no tomato, no onion no accomplishments, as expected from a normal traditional Ploughman’s lunch. I asked for a small side salad 🥗 in the end which was a tiny bowl of salad leaves 🤷♀️ such a shame 😌

Sorry to hear your feed back, did you report to a member of staff on the day so they could put this right?
It's very difficult to sort any issues you have when you have left.
And bad reviews don't do you or the business any good.

Second dining experience at The Hankridge Arms and each one equally brilliant. Tucked away amongst a retail hot spot, conveniently off J25 of M5. First visit I opted for the Duck Special, and my friend had the Pork Belly (I was already jealous) but mine did not leave me with food envy, it was sublime, more likened to fine dining restaurant than a country pub, yet it seems they cater for all types. I saw Burgers, Fish and Chips, Sandwiches all wizzing past me on this busy afternoon.
This latest visit I opted for the Duck Wrap (a little lighter for a late Lunch) and again delicious. Nice little side order of piping hot fries on the plate, satisfied my hunger perfectly. We were looked after by the young waitress faultlessly and had I caught the new land lady's name I would have personally thanked her, but she was busy busy lending a hand to her team. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you!

Lovely pub. Friendly staff. Went for a Sunday roast. Disappointed really the plate came swimming in gravy. That's ok if you like a plate of gravy. One small slice of beef. One small piece of roast parsnip. Food was nice. Advise to the chef please allow your customers to choose how much if any gravy they would like. A small gravy boat would be more dignified and acceptable for the guests.

Thank you so much for your feed back.
The chef is now only putting a little gravy on and offering more if required.
He has also increased the portion side.
Kind regards
