Great food and outstanding staff. Met up with family for lunch on a quick stopover on our way to Cornwall. This place was recommended to us and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The lady who served us was brilliant.

Three of us were looking forward to a fun family meal. However, all our meals were of a poor standard. The Kapso Chicken was no more than 4 strips of chicken goujons covered with curry sauce you would buy in a fish and chip shop...making the chicken covering soggy. The two pizzas were tasteless n dry. It is not in my nature to complain however, this meal was very disappointing and not good value for sureMore

I have eaten many times at the Hankridge and always the food is very good, my favourite is the Fish & Chips. My recent visit I ordered my favourite the fish was nearly all batter hardly any fish. Very disappointed. Reported it to one of...the staff and the response was very negative.More

My husband and I visited last week. The Shellfish Tagliatelle was incredible. The portion size was generous considering it was on the Light Bite & Salads menu. Couldn't fault a thing.

I really love the food at this lovely little pub, but today left me feeling a little underwhelmed, although I opted for the light menu by having the ploughman’s lunch I didn’t expect for £13 to only get a tiny breadboard with two pits of...different cheeses some ham and a boiled egg. All as you would expect, but it only came with a tiny ramekin of piccalilli half a pickled onion, and two slices of bread, not whole slices, so no salad, no apple, no tomato, no onion no accomplishments, as expected from a normal traditional Ploughman’s lunch. I asked for a small side salad 🥗 in the end which was a tiny bowl of salad leaves 🤷‍♀️ such a shame 😌More

Top level of service fantastic people and food you pay for what you get and the price and food was amazing so fresh. We spent a lot of time here and was always welcomed back. Was there with my brother from a different mother his...a fantastic Welch one and turns the landlord was from Wales so chat was great. Felt very welcome on each visit. Although had to explain I wasn't wearing a skirt it was a camouflage kilt. We had a good joke about that one. Great place great food and people.More

I genuinely hate writing a negative review, but what has happened to The Hankridge? Usually so reliable, but this evening three out of the four of us had disappointing meals. An underwhelming tiny fish pie with shreds of fish, an undercooked pizza base with no...sauce under the cheese, and a burnt veal chop with soggy mushrooms in an incredibly salty stock (not a mushroom sauce). Very disappointing. We were too embarrassed to make a fuss as we were celebrating with a family member, but we won’t be back in a hurry.More

Had pre-booked for our first night in Taunton as was very close to the Holiday Inn less than 10 minutes walk. It appears a strange place to have a pub in a retail park. As this is a traditional pub rath than a chain restaurant....Good service and the food was tasty and the desserts were particularly impressive best eton mess I have eaten “Excuse the pun” in a long time my wife's trifle was also very good. Certainly had no grumbles with the food or service.More

We found this pub by accident and was thrilled as it is a lovely building, great decor and nice little garden. Unfortunately we did not have time to stop but assured the staff member we would definitely come back. And we did. My husband and...I, had a minor celebration, and wanted to try it out for lunch as a precursor to our son getting leave from the military next week which is also his birthday,! We have missed his last 3 birthdays due to deployment😔 But when we went into the pub at 3:30pm it was evident that no food would be served until 5:30….our bad timing and lack of research!!! But….decided to have a drink(as said a minute celebration)……. No Prosecco in the fridge, asked for darkest ale and was served a gold bitter…….where were we allowed to sit…only bar or garden….weather not great so had to be in the bar……yet the bar staff had set up an ironing camp dead centre….ironing board and ironing pile and was merrily doing the housework😂🤣😂 rendering 3 tables unusable. Still another 2 hours until food but apparently we were not allowed to sit in the rather lovely looking restaurant area so had to sit in………the laundry 😂🤣😂 Never have I witnessed this I. A pub before, very unprofessional….now I realise they wasn’t very busy, only us and 2 other parties in there…..but I’m afraid first impressions always stick. Had I known I would have brought my ironing pile too😂🤣😂 As said, it was a mini celebration for us and a precursor to a special meal with our son………safe to say won’t be returning. Shame. Unprofessional.More

Amazing cheese souffle! Definitely not a small plate! Will come back. Decor and atmosphere is a bit rigid, softer chairs and colour decor would make the place unreal.
