Popped in for a quick breakfast before a train journey to Devon. 1st they brought a Steaming hot mug of breakfast tea then the most amazing breakfast burger. I've had great breakfasts in a good old fashioned greasy spoon and even better ones in posher...places but this Block breakfast was on another level. Will be back again soon.More
Went here last Saturday for brunch with a friend who is vegan. She ordered the all day breakfast and asked for the vegan option with no mushrooms. One of the chefs brought our food over, and hers has mushrooms (which she didn’t want) as well...as poached eggs (not vegan). She said ‘sorry, I ordered the vegan breakfast’ to which the chef replied ‘yeah, meat free’. My friend had to say ‘no, vegan. Those are eggs’. They then brought her breakfast out for a second time….. with halloumi on it. Again, she had to point out to the staff that cheese is not vegan, and the chef still didn’t seem to understand. The front of house staff were very apologetic but the chef seemed annoyed by the inconvenience. By this point my friend said she would keep this dish and just took the halloumi off her plate, so as not to be a ‘difficult vegan’. It’s worth noting that the vegan all day breakfast is listed on the menu, and so staff should be properly trained on the spec, it wasn’t something my friend was just requesting off the cuff. The front of house staff offered us a free drink but we we’d already had coffees so declined, so when they brought our bill over we had to pay full price for everything which was quite disappointing for a breakfast that was wrong twice. When we got our receipt we saw it was put through as ‘vegan breakfast, no mushroom’, so it wasn’t the front of house staff that had made the mistake. I think the chefs need more training on the menu and different dietary requirements, as such a mistake for someone with an intolerance/allergy could have been really bad. If you offer a vegan meal there’s really no reason to be getting it that wrong twice. My breakfast was nice but don’t think we will be returning unfortunately.More
Absolutely love the idea of this restaurant, staff were warm and friendly, everything was clean, service was great. However, this is just our own personal preference, we found that the bacon was very over-cooked to the point whereby it was difficult to cut up, the...toast was very burnt, we didn’t like the green stuff either, that said the eggs were poached to perfection and the coffee too was excellent! The waitress offered more toast but we couldn’t see the point. It was very refreshing to have an independent cafe and if I was to go again, I would ask for the bacon and toast not to be so ovet-cooked! I’ve made huge mistakes in my kitchen, so I don’t really want to hold this against the establishment!More
This visit was an experiment as the previous cafe in these premises was not to our taste. The menu has some imagination as well as breakfast staples. My husband had the Brunch Burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. I tried the Turkish egg dish, menemen. I...am not a vegetarian but this was delicious. Not highly spiced but lots of flavour. We will definitely be back.More

Fantastic place for brunch. Food is delicious and really interesting menu.I had huevos rancheros. Delicious. Really fresh, and really well cooked. Can’t recommend this place enough. Only downside is restricted opening hours - til 3pm Weds to Sat only I think. Try it.
Fantastic food and service. Not noticed Block before but my partner suggested we headed there for brunch. Food was amazing quality, cooked fresh and extremely tasty. We both throughly loved it and will definitely be back. Service was excellent. Highly recommend
Would not recommend Block for breakfast. The avocado on toast was a joke as the ‘avocado’ was mushed to a thin paste and spread onto the toast. The additional poached egg (£1 additional price) was over cooked and to top it all, the waitress tried...to charge us for someone else’s table! When we gave our feedback on the breakfast she was cheeky enough to comment, “I don’t expect you want to give a tip then”.More
Met my daughters and grandchildren for lunch. Lovely menu, great atmosphere and really busy. The food was amazing, staff very attentive and lovely with the children. Will definitely be visiting again.
Such good food and incredible service. Andy and his team were excellent and highly attentive. Love this place. Highly recommended.

Visited this new restaurant yesterday for breakfast. It is refreshing to see an independent restaurant with an exciting different brunch menu rather than the tired chains Taunton is full of. The breakfast was outstanding, I had the full Block breakfast my wife had eggs and...avocado on toast. The coffee was excellent and there was a warm welcome from the staff. The decor is modern and pleasant with plenty of room and an open kitchen where you can see your food being prepared, no hiding place. If you are looking for something different in Taunton get down to Block before everyone else discovers how good it is.More
