Bhujon meal at Mere Green

Bhujon meal at Mere Green We had a very tasty meal for two on a quiet Tuesday evening. Starter was the onion bhaji with dip and side salad, followed by the mains of salmon and the kori gassi. With rice & naan with the mains, and an Indian kulfi ice cream for desert, the bill came to £37.00. We took our own wine and the service was good. The only aspects I would mention were that we feel there should be a hot warmer on the table as by the time we had completed our main meals the rice and naan bread had become cold in the interim period. Secondly when receiving the bill the waiter had made it contactless before I could place my card in the machine for putting in my code. Regards Gary Saunders

Had a delivery of Chicken Tikka Madras and Mushroom Pilau Rice . Although reasonably tasty the container was swimming in what looked like Ghee or Oil and took some time to stir in which when served still was separated. Mushroom Pilau was also very wet. Reasonable but not great

I have been to Bhujan on several occasions and the food is consistently good . The service however is consistently poor and customer attention is non existent. I am reluctant to say I won’t go back but the staff are so bad it’s embarrassing. I hope it improves to compliment the kitchens efforts.

Meal deal offered but not honoured.......be careful

Booked a table in advance in an empty restaurant on a quiet Monday night in March. We arrived and sat down and asked for the Sunday to Thursday fixed price meal displayed on a highly prominent A 1 poster which was popadum , any starter, any main and any sides and tea or coffee ( with exceptions ) for £13.90 each but after we ordered the meal deal and confirmed it was available and after the meal deal popadums arrived we were told the manager has now decided that the meal deal was not available today. We then scaled back and just had mains at less cost but they tried to con us and won’t be back.

No Social Distancing Measures In Place!

Have eaten at Bhujon a number of times pre-pandemic and thoroughly enjoyed it. The good is always good! We were surprised to be able to get a table on a last minute booking last night given its a popular restaurant and they are part of the "eat out to help out" scheme. Sadly the owner was clearly cramming as many customers in as he could! There was no social distancing whatsoever. Tables and customers were way too close together and customers were not being kept separate in the waiting area either. My husband and I are now self-isolating! Unless Bhujon adhere to the social distancing measures, I strongly suggest you avoid this restaurant, and they should be fined! Very disappointed!

Covid 19 gov 50% review

Last night we decided to take advantage of the government 50% discount ,mon-Wednesday offer and we’re not disappointed. Although we live on the doorstep to this gem we have only ever had A takeaway from here. We booked a table for 3 , there was socially distance floor markings clearly visible and alcohol handheld available at the top of the stairs . All the attentive staff were wearing visors and gloves. The food was cooked beautifully and we didn’t feel rushed. Bhujon restaurant also allows you to bring your own drinks , so this further reduces the cost of you fancy an early week treat.

Let us down. No social distance.

Lovely to catch up with another couple tonight. But we all felt uncomfortable at Bhujon. One manager and 3 waiting staff. Far too may customers. The centre line of tables should have been removed. Tables far too close. Diners far too close. Fabulous food but I felt far more at risk tonight than I have at any point since March. We have had great food via takeaway during lockdown but the dining in experience was horrific. People waiting in a queue, all with bookings for 7.30. At 7.40 another party join the back of the queue and the male goes to speak to the staff. They get seated before 3 others parties all with bookings at the same time. There were not enough staff. They were run ragged. Worst service we have ever had. Asked 3 times for glasses. On second occasion we were brought left over glasses from a table that had just departed. One had food on it. Tables and diners sat in normal seating plan. Most restaurants have made changes due to covid restrictions but not Bhujon. It was their normal, crushed layout and it was full. Just trying to get as much money as possible with minimal staff. Fed comments to manager who offered us money off which I didn't take as I felt with the 50/50 offer we had had a decent meal and I was commenting on their set up not the food. We won't be going back to dine in for a long time.

Poor takeaway

Ordered a takeaway in December. My husbands dish was really tasty so credit where credit is due but mine was completely inedible. Absolutely swimming in oil so we both shared his. Called the restaurant and no one answered. I have sent two emails to them with a picture of the meal and no response at all. It’s a shame that they wouldn’t want to have a chat with me, apologise and maybe try and rectify it.

Food quality has gone seriously down hill. Our meal was poor with one dish (lamb shank) being completely inedible. Flagged it with the manager who agreed that it was poor but did little to resolve it. This will be our last visit to Bhujon

Another quality meal, never disappoints!

Went on Saturday night with friends. Had a fantastic meal. Food top quality, my husband and I had the combination dishes which were all very tasty and differentiated. Generous portions and high quality ingredients with lovely fragrant flavours.Service was excellent despite full restaurant and waiter’s friendly and attentive.order taken promptly and food followed shortly arriving altogether and all piping hot. Atmosphere in restaurant was good felt a buzz in the air and enough staff to deal with everyone. Eat here regularly and never disappoints. We are lucky to have such a high quality establishment on our doorstep.

Disappointing

We’re regulars, going once a week or fortnight. We’ve always had a good meal but this time the chicken in our Baltic was most definitely re-used and warmed up, chewy and unappetising. I hope this isn’t the norm to save money. We went on a Friday

Dum Ka Gosht is just delicious!

After visiting quite regularly over the years with a group of friends I have tried a few different dishes. All of which have been very good. However over the last few visits a clear favourite has appeared. The Dum Ka Gosht is a truly fabulous dish. As you know mutton is an older lamb so is a much stronger flavour. The pieces of mutton are very large and melt in the mouth tender. The sauce is tomato based with a great combination of spices. Oh and the portion is huge!

Derisive lack of concern for customer’s allergy

Complete disregard for a declared allergy. Unable to confirm whether chefs had ensured allergen was not in food. And really poor attitude by staff when the presence of the allergen was brought to the manager’s attention - begrudging replacement and a singular lack of concern for the serous consequences that could have ensued for an elderly relative. Have been customers since it opened but this is a classic case of a restaurant becoming too full of its own reputation and forgetting to treat customers with respect or concern. We have now been to Zazzu in Shenstone twice and can’t begin to describe how much better the service and the food is!

Went here for partner's birthday night out. The food was very good. Although the waiter seemed pleasant enough, I got the impression he would rather have been somewhere else. Was a little off putting, like us being there was an inconvenience to him. We booked in advance and the restaurant was fairly quiet. Saying that I would go again as the food was good and we all had a good evening. Good parking close to the restaurant too

Fantastic food, great choice of vegetarian dishes & excellent service. We have been regulars here for 18 years and they have never let us down. Take your own drinks or use the cocktail bar.
