We visited here for a rare night out without our toddler to celebrate our wedding anniversary dinner, and it was a wonderful experience! It was a calm environment and the staff were very pleasant and attentive, without being overbearing. The food (gnocchi, pizza and tiramisu) was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this as a place to have dinner!

My friend and I went here for lunch and we weren't disappointed. Not only was the food fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious but the gentleman who served us was very obliging and approachable. The menu is amazing and my friend(who is vegetarian) was delighted at the outstanding amount of vegetarian/vegan dishes available, not to be matched anywhere in Colchester!. Deserts were a dream also freshly prepared, being abit of a choc connoisseur I was not disappointed by my choice of their handmade chocolat cake, which turned out to be a sumptuous chocolate torte heaven!. We will definitely be returning 😁

This place has been recommended to me so many times and it really did live up to expectations! We went at 5pm as we had a show to go to later. It was very quiet but that was fine with us! The restaurant owner was there to greet us and was really friendly and went through the specials. We order our drinks and food. The food was amazing! We did have 3 courses and the portions were perfect size to fit in 3 courses. Food was hot and full of flavour. The owner was so friendly and so was the chef who I believe was an owner. They were chatting to us and checking everything was good. I can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend …. I saw on another review saying this is a little gem of a restaurant…. I completely agree! Felt so welcome here loved it!

I was looking forward to wisit this restaurant for all the reviews were so great. Got there and the waiter was very nice and the restaurant itself very nice. I orderes Pescatori Risotto and my husband ordered a pasta dish I can't remember the name of. When our dinner came it was so obvious that the muscels in my dish were not fresh at all, I started though to eat them thinking that muscels can't always be as fresh as we are used to here in Iceland. But when I had eaten a few I stopped for I just couldn't eat more. My husbands pasta dish was good taisting but the pasta was very overdone a shame in a Italian restaurant. You might ask why I didn't complain... I never complain, if the dish the chef decides to bring to me is to his liking he just will have to read a comment like this later. But as I said before, nice servise and nice looking restaurant. Will not go there again if I visit Colchester

We had booked for 10 people for 8pm. We arrived at 8.30pm and we were immediately told in a grumpy tone that we would have to leave the table by 9.30pm at the latest because they would have to seat the second shift customers. If I hadn't been accompanied by guests I would have left. We were given two nearby tables for 5 people and our request to join them was inexplicably denied even though they were close and easy to join. During dinner there was no lack of desire on the part of the waiters to hurry us up to respect the 9.30pm timing. I don't leave 1 star because for being in Calabria, I consider the pizza to be of good quality. I advise you to organize yourself better in managing the "two shifts", I think it is a bad idea. rather, make sure that anyone who does not respect the arrival time loses their table and reservation.

Think about defending the medal justifying a physical malaise after eating at your place with "the story of intolerance that just happened to come to both customers" with the courage to invite us again to eat .. what about... Overdue. A good restaurant should have the humility to admit that some mistake could happen and that from experience we improve

When I booked our table I felt like I was in trouble. It was not a warm reception on the phone and I came away feeling a bit anxious in the case that anybody in my group of 5 may be late on the night they may be turned away. It really was a bit stressful but I continued with the booking. My very pregnant daughter and myself were the first to arrive and after 10 mins still had not been offered a drink. We asked for one and were told they like to wait for the whole party to arrive first. This seemed quite unreasonable and not very good customer service. When my son was held up in traffic, about 15 mins after our book in time, we were almost shouted at and felt we had a good telling off! Although the reception became less frosty after he arrived, and we had ordered for him in advance, it definitely affected our experience negatively. The food was ok, we all had some antipasto and pizzas but we're not offered any condiments other that pepper. The pizzas were quite dry and needed added oil in my opinion. The waiter showed moments of friendliness and said happy birthday to my mum who was 83 but I feel the experience could have been better.

Hi thanks for your taking the time to write us a review 1 your table was booked for 6 people and then when you came just told us the gonna be only 5 Why you didn't call us to amend the guest number? Your table was 5:30 booked not a 6:15 And did you see yesterday the restaurant was busy if everyone booked a table @ 5:30 and then came 45 minutes later we need to refuse the other tablet because you just decided it was okay to come 1 person less and 45 minutes later! 2 we didn't ask for a drink I don't know if it was the 1 time you going OUT to a restaurant but normally we wait for guests to arrive and take only 1 order. 3 About the pizza what condiment do we need to ask? We use Fior di latte mozzarella how can the pizza be dry? Did you know you were eating at an ITALIAN Restaurant? NOT a kebab shop! 4 when you booked you didn't tell us it was your mum's birthday We are not magicians to know if is someone's birthday! 5 I think this review was just done because at 5:50 I came to the table to ask AGAIN if more people would come or not This is not a TELLING OFF!!! 6 if you read our review we have excellent customer service 7 1 of your parties had Miseria Pizza which is with Buffalo Mozzarella again how can be dry? 2 pizzas were with anchovies full of olive oil how can this be dry? 1 was capricciosa with artichoke full of olive oil How can this be dry? Anyway, thanks for your review 😊

The second attempt in reviewing as my last review was deleted if only they were passionate about their food rather than their reviews !!!!!! The food was tasteless, extremely disappointed I’m too nice to complain but must leave a review as this is the worst place I’ve eaten at for a long time… I had the Fritto misto which had overcooked calamari that was so tough and one prawn that felt like it had been sitting in a freezer for years. The white bait wasn’t too bad though. For main course, I had cannelloni and it was just so bland. Why wouldn’t a place just keep salt and pepper on the table instead you get the waiter asking if you would like black pepper. "How would I know, I haven’t tasted it yet," I was thinking. The partner had pork. Wow! What a disaster! It said chilli and garlic but it came like a roast dinner basically floating in gravy, soggy as anything and so bland. At least she enjoyed the potatoes! Her bread starter was the best of the night. Don’t bother trust me!!!

Delicious food, the crab and ricotta tortelloni special was so tasty with beautifully cooked fresh pasta and the cannelloni was so fresh and tasty! The tiramisu was also perfect, but more than anything else the 2 staff we met were so friendly and made our evening so lovely. We will definitely be back hopefully soon, thank you!

As we were in Colchester for a funeral, I checked out this place on trip advisor & really pleased I did. We had a wonderful meal. I particularly enjoyed my main, the belly pork & my wife’s Puttanesca was also lovely. They advertise that the food is homemade and it certainly taste it. We both had the tiramisu for desert which was excellent. We decided to return the night after for pizza & we were not disappointed. We had a tomato based one with chilli & a white one named after the restaurant, both were delicious. The staff, or should I say owners, were really pleasant & nothing too much trouble, Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We were thrilled to discover Miseria & Nobiltà! As Italians, finding authentic Italian food can be a challenge, especially since we are vegan, but this place was a dream come true. They have a fantastic dedicated vegan menu featuring starters, pizzas, pastas, and even desserts! We loved the crispy, golden vegan arancini with their delicious filling. The vegan calzone was really impressive, it was not only bursting with flavour, but the pizza base was also made ‘a regola d’arte’ and was incredibly easy to digest! The handmade gnocchi were also absolutely delicious: properly made Italian gnocchi, with a perfect bite and fantastic Alla Norma sauce. We also had the vegan brownie and vegan chocolate mousse cake and they were both mouthwatering! The warm and inviting atmosphere added to the experience. This a family-owned gem, and Giuseppe and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back and explore more of their delicious vegan options!

For some reason I can't understand why we have not been here for a while. Our visit tonight was absolutely fabulous. Wonderful mussels for starters, followed by great mains and a very tasty home made dessert. Excellent front of house service from Alfredo and good to see a very slim Guiseppi appear from the kitchen from time to time. This is a fantastic family restaurant and we will certainly not wait so long before we visit again.

Giuseppe and his brother Alfredo, together with their mama, deliver an authentic food experience that has become our favourite restaurant in town. The food is exceptional (whether you have meat, fish, pizza or pasta - or wonderful desserts) and the service is second to none. A great menu choice and excellent wines too. Looking forward to our next visit.

Oh how I wished I lived in Colchester, if it was only to have the pleasure of visiting this restaurant more often. We found this place during our mid week stay in Colchester and so pleased we did. Attentive service from the owner who is clearly passionate about his restaurant and the food served, as was the chef who came out to ask if everything was OK. And yes it was more than OK. One of the best pizzas ever, light base, flavoursome, super tasty toppings. Great fritto misto starter, and light fluffy gnocchi, like soft pillows of deliciousness. A must visit if you want authentic Italian, cooked fresh, family owned and not part of a chain restaurant.

Visited today with my family unfortunately the food read well but didn’t live up to the description my husband had the pork belly which was described as being in a port sauce and having chilli in the dish … Sauce was not anything like the description and the fat was soggy not crispy. There was no chilli! I ordered calves liver and bacon with mash. The portion was ridiculously small one strip of liver cut into two pieces a little bacon and mash that tasted like it had come out of a packet I asked for some mustard and was told it wasn’t Italian!!! I’ve been to many fine Italian restaurants and was never told I couldn’t have mustard!!! The children meals were fine although the portion of pasta was rather small. By far the biggest joke was the portion of vegetables served with each meal I only wish I’d taken a photo of it. Never ever have I seen anything so ridiculous. I would except a toddler to eat more. Such a shame and I wish I didn’t have to write this review but seriously you need to up your game!
