We had never tried Timbers out before but had always heard good things. Having turned vegan in August last year we wouldn't have thought of it but for the boards outside advertising the new GF and vegan menus. We were in and upstairs in a flash - the somewhat dark décor and uneven flooring hardly detracting from our excitement once... More

Great to see this cafe embracing veganism, with a sign to indicate that they do vegan options on the chalkboard outside. Vegan breakfast tasty, but underwhelming (consisted of toast with marg, beans, 2x tomatoes, mushrooms, 2x hash browns). Disappointing that they don't provide vegan sausages though, or anything in place of the sausages/bacon/eggs in the regular breakfast, but charged the... More

Amazing customer service, great, tasty quality food and good value! What more could you ask for? The staff are incredibly friendly and patient, the cosy little restaurant is perfect for a small family to go for breakfast in town.

Very good value and good atmosphere. I had the soup and sandich combo ( tomato soup on the day and I ordered the cheese and ham toastie), my partner had the all day breakfast. My friend had a big coffee and we also had three other drinks. The bill came to £20. They also have a vegan menu and a... More

A small but comfy place to have a brunch/breakfast/coffee. We visit this place for a Sunday brunch. I had a vegetarian brunch with tasty veggie sausages, however the hash brown's flavor wasn't as good as should be. My partner had a tasty ham and mushroom omelette. At the end we were satisfied with it. Probably going back again.

Lovely little restaurant, lots of choice, staff so friendly and helpful. Always busy so sometimes its best to book. My friend and i go regularly as its a good traditional restaurant which are hard to find these days.

Neither of us are vegans but we went for the vegan breakfast. First class. The food was wholesome, well cooked and served well. Lovely cup of tea, very reasonably priced. We'll be back!

We have been regular customers since timbers opened, but that will change now. We visited for lunch in November, we both wanted the soup and sandwich. The waitress took and order to the table next to us then came over and took our drinks order then asked what we would like, we asked for 2 soup and sandwiches but before... More

Simon, Ali and the team would like to welcome you to "timbers" our family run restaurant set in a gorgeous 400 year old timber framed building in the historic centre of Colchester.
We offer well cooked quality food from our famous breakfasts using locally sourced ingredients, such as Proctors award winning sausages, local farm free range eggs, to our home made versions of world renowned classics. Great Coffees and teas or maybe something a little stronger are all available to wash it all down with!
We believe that if we can serve you the best meals, by the friendliest staff, then you will be more than happy to come back and recommend us to all your friends.
