Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been visiting here for over 20 years the breakfasts are simply the very best in the area, if you want a selection of precooked items plated up from a hot cupboard or 15 items for £3.99 then please go elsewhere. The Jubliee serves fresh quality food cooked to order and as a result there may be a wait at times that wait is ALWAYS worth it. The staff are always pleasant and friendly i do not know why some people they feel they need a personal heartfelt apology because a business is successful and therefore busy meaning that they may have to wait a while for their food.

It was minus 2° outside but inside we had a warm welcome from the owner and was seated at our table, our order was taken within a short period of time our breakfast arrived. My husband had the Jubilee mix breakfast and I had the Jubilee breakfast which was absolutely delicious with bread and butter for both meals, we ordered hot drinks which was coffee and a pot of tea. We will definitely be going back. We'll done!

Bacon was very good, eggs cooked well, loads of mushrooms and crispy fried potatoes were superb. Well known for them I'm told. Bread was good quality, fresh and came with sunflower spread. Plenty of sauces provided. As good as many a four star hotel I've stayed at.

My friends and I attended the jubilee cafe for breakfast having heard rave reviews from many people. Whilst the coffee was enjoyed by my partner and I, our female companion was left feeling deflated over her coffee that had a slight taint of Smokey bacon. The overall atmosphere was in keeping with the average age of customers and being in our 30’s we felt slightly underaged. After ordering our food our drinks were brought to us along with payment, which seemed strange timing but fair enough. There isn’t much to say about the food, apart from that it was entirely whelming and in no way met the rave reviews. Whilst I have nothing bad to say about it I was left feeling disappointed as it hadn’t met the hype. I wish I had read the lower rated reviews on various platforms as they give a more accurate portrait of the cafeteria standard food and frankly ridiculous overpricing. Mediocre food- pensioner palette- pension pricing.

Just left the cafe after being told that we can’t order two slices of toast to go with our £30 breakfast as it slows down the orders. We could not order the food we wanted. The cafe was less than 1/4 full on a Sunday morning and we have been attending for more than 15 years. Really disappointed with the customer service in this instance.

We visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast, there were only a handful of customers at tables so it was very quiet. There was a sign up saying there was no table service and you needed to go to the counter to order. A full breakfast, beans on toast and a couple of drinks was nearly £25!!! The quality of the produce being used appears to have slipped and having to order at the counter was very disappointing. I’m sure a local hotel/pub will do a great breakfast, with better quality ingredients and full table service and be cheaper. The Jubilee used to do really good food, but it seems to have slipped on the quality and sneaked the prices up! I appreciate they need to earn a living but not at the expense of quality. It’s a shame, as we loved it there as it was a very short drive from home. Not sure we will be visiting again in a hurry. Sorry!

Had a lovely mid week lunch here, didn't book but it was busy and had to wait a while for our food, not a problem though, it was so worth the wait. The roast lamb was cooked to perfection as were the roast potatoes and veg, also husband had the quorn lasagne with saute potatoes and salad again delicious. Reasonable priced too, will definitely visit again. Lovely staff too, very friendly.

It doesn’t get any better than the jubby. I should know For the first time in1973 with the EEB gang, still back at 2020. Cooked fresh every time I’ve had a meal there, and still has the attention to detail. If you’ve sampled as much roadside meals as a Sparx you would surly appreciate good food and well prepared.

Been coming here for >30 years on and off. Have eaten here weekly over recent times. Invariably order the same cooked breakfast meal. Everything's always consistent: quality ingredients; excellent preparation; piping hot. Much better than any café or pub I've been to in Colchester. Family owned and run business. Everyone seems to care about giving customers a good eating experience. The waiting staff will engage in some conversation if you initiate, or just politely leave you to it.

We took some family to eat at the cafe. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite, we were aware of the long wait to get superb food as its is ‘not fast food, but good food served when ready and all of our guests commented on the excellent hot tasty food. However, they were a little taken aback by the ‘poor cleanliness and presentation of the cafe overall’. It could do with a deep clean as the lights above us had black cobwebs and the coke glasses have seen better days and need to be replaced. I am aware that it is a cafe, but it wouldn’t hurt for the entrance in particular to get an upgrade and tidied up, as well as an overall clean. Getting the cafe to the standard of their food, it would be amazing.

Visited again with friends as our "go to" place for good home cooked food at a reasonable price, As usual it didn't disappoint. We all very much enjoyed our choices and there is plenty to choose from. Desserts are wonderful and a real treat. We all left very content and will of course be returning again soon.

Attended with friends for the first time in many years. Spotlessly clean inside although could have been a bit warmer. Although the price of the food is slightly higher than normal cafes the quality of the food is very good and staff helpful and friendly. We all agreed that our visit was a big success and would definitely be returning in the future.

This was the first place we visited post lockdown and we've been several times since. Not only has every single meal we've had been perfectly presented, every mouthful has been spot on. The customer care is the best we've experienced anywhere and I don't say that lightly. Of great importance to us also, has been the exceptional and respectful way that COVID restrictions have been implemented-we feel very well protected and cared about, right from arrival, through to when we leave. We look forward to our next visit.

On holiday in England with our dog, our first stop was Swaffham Bulbeck. We arrived from the Stena Line, Harwich and had planned to have breakfast at the Jubilee Restaurant, Old Ipswich Rd in Ardleigh. We were too early, this roadside restaurant opens at 8:00 am!. So we waited a while and it was now starting to rain. The roadside restaurant opened indeed at 8:00 am. When we asked if a dog was welcome here, we were shouted from a distance: no just on the terrace. The terrace where there was no shelter from the rain. In the large empty roadside restaurant I saw a table near the exit, asked if we could take a seat here, no on the terrace, we were shouted, but I replied that it was raining. No answer. Then we looked for something with hospitality.
