Very popular at lunch times due over 50's menu really God value but be prepared to park on road as car park of limited size. Do not even think of going unless you book ahead.

Very good service and nicely presented and well cooked food. Great value esp. if over 55 yrs and go for weekday lunches. Would recommend booking in advance as it gets busy!

I use this Pub/Restaurant on a regular basis, for lunch and dinner, and it gives excellent value for money. The 2 menus are varied, 1 for lunch and 1 for evening. The lunch menu is £3.95 for 1 course and £8.95 for the 2 course evening meal, there is also an alternative evening menu if you want to spend £12.95... More

We were very disappointed with our visit to The Ship Inn. We had beforehand looked on the website at the menu and from that we decided to have our meal there. When we arrived the menu was different to that on the website (less choice available). When we questioned this we were told by the grumpy waitress that they don't... More

I often come here for lunch with friends. It is a very popular venue for lunch so I do advise booking ahead! They do an 'over 55's' menu on weekdays, so a large number of cars in the car park do belong to this age group!! Having said that, there is a good atmosphere here, and the food is very... More

"Hi, what would you recommend?" - "On what?" "Er ... the menu?" - "The chips are usually safe" Judicious use of the microwave does not a restaurant make. When served with chicken that refuses to cool down after 15 minutes, or a 'Hunter' sauce applied seemingly with a water-cannon, it may be best to spare a thought for your digestive... More

On a extremely snowy wild night Thursday 12th January a coach load of ladies from a Colchester Ladies Group ventured to The Ship for a post Christmas meal and we were certainly not disappointed, personally this was my first visit(it will not be my one and only). The food, service, surroundings were excellent. As there was a choice we all... More
