About
Welcome to Il Padrino (and to save you looking it up, it means The Godfather) - the Italian restaurant which has taken Colchester by storm since opening in May 2013. Mouth-watering food, a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and great value for money - everything you want from a dining out experience and it has been created by owner, Fausto Mazza. How appropriate that one of England's leading Roman towns should play host to such a fabulous Italian experience! Il Padrino is open for lunch and dinner. Whatever time of day you visit, the warmth of the welcome will never waver - and neither will the quality of the food.

Restaurant is downstairs so if you are like me a bit claustrophobic will not be for you. Tends to be quite crowded. Choice on Specials menu is good but found it to be very expensive. I had a lasagne and to be frank one of...More

I enjoyed a dinner at Il Padrino with 11 friends, which was a bit of a challenge for the staff. Everyone was happy with the food which was pretty authentic, compared with other restaurants which claim to be Italian. However, after serving the desserts, the...More

We visited today with two friends after my husbands' great experience of a Christmas meal with colleagues here in December. We have walked by many times, thinking it was your average pasta and pizza place, but we were wrong. Now we know better! We all...More

When my husband I prebooked for a pre-threatre meal - we were waiting ages before our order was taken. The food took ages to arrive. When my meal did arrive it had obviously been microwaved as it was steaming hot. I was asked 4 times...More

We attempted to go to this restaurant for lunch with our grandchildren, as we entered the waitress looked at us and told us she would put us upstairs. As we had a buggy, a 4 and a 2 year old I requested that we sit...More

Dear Daniel Sorry to hear of your experience. We are a very busy restaurant (particularly so during the Christmas period) and it is a very common occurrence that we have to sadly turn away people who call in without a reservation. It is nothing whatsoever...More

Very nice tasty food, service was good great little restaurant. But didn't realise they close in the afternoon, so we were lucky when we got the table.

I hadn't visited for a while and it was the first time for my partner, who loved the basement atmosphere. All the staff were first class, polite, friendly professional and really added to the whole experience. A good meal is often ruined by poor service,...More

The time we visited this restaurant, we were happy with the food and the service. I would class this as a 'close, cosy' seating area, so vibrant atmosphere.

The restaurant is on 3 floors and is too small to have a lift. The Ground floor does not have many tables. I am afraid the answer to your question is no, in my opinion.
