Arrived last Wednesday for lunch just after midday - 2 of us - after driving more than 120 miles. Just two tables were occupied. A couple on each. We were told by the off-hand young man behind the bar that we couldn’t lunch there as...a large party (25) was “due soon”! He seemed to think that suggesting we re-route “to the Howard Arms or Fleece” was an adequate response to my protestation that to say they couid not cope with providing a light lunch for two was ridiculous. Needless to say we will not be re-visiting.More

Lovely stay over. Room spotlessly clean, some lovely complimentary touches. Bed was so comfortable!! We hadn’t booked for food and was contacted to ask if we wanted to book a table for a meal. Food was beautiful and plenty of it. Breakfast also very good....Would definitely stay again.More

We stayed for one night. The room was lovely, with some nice little extra touches to make your stay feel special. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The evening food was very good, with a good selection of vegetarian meals and the staff were...lovely. The breakfast was excellent - I think the hollandaise sauce on the eggs florentine was the best I have ever had.More

I stayed for one night with two friends while walking Hadrian's Wall (West to East). The hotel / restaurant is only a short walk from the trail. The welcome was very warm and friendly. The hotel has been very tastefully renovated from a former pub....Rooms and showers were stunning and luxurious. The beds were comfortable, quiet and temperature was easy to control. There were some excellent finishing touches, like a proper coffee maker in each room (not little sachets of instant rubbish) and fresh jersey milk. Evening meal in the restaurant was good, but the breakfast was in a league of its own; quite easily, the best breakfast that I have ever had, really superb. Additionally, much of the food is locally sourced (including the coffee). We felt so comfortable that it was difficult to drag ourselves away from the hotel in order to do the next stretch of wall !!More

We had the most amazing experience, the place looks great, the food was really great and the staff is very friendly. It's a shame that we leave so far away because we will love to come every week but definitely we will come back xx

We went for Sunday lunch. The dining room is lovely and the owner very attentive and welcoming. Good choice on the menu and portions are generous and well cooked. Excellent staff, very smiley and pleasant. A great experience, thank you.

From the minute we entered The Sally we were greeted by Shaun and made to feel very welcome. The Hotel was finished to a very high standard and had all of the finishing touches. While Shaun managed the front of house Jimmy was in the...Kitchen preparing what can only be described as delicious food, the food was very well presented and tasted fantastic. The Sally did not disappoint and we had a fantastic couple of nights here. The staff could not do enough for us and were all very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to visit the area. It was a most pleasurable experience and we will return.More

What a great little B&B; I stayed on a beautifully renovated room which was very clean. I also thoroughly enjoyed the food. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, it was very busy and they were still very attentive. I’ll definitely be back if...I’m ever in the area again. Thanks.More
