Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We called in here after a recommendation by a local and we were not disappointed. We had lunch , it was excellent, beautifully presented and very tasty. I have coeliac so have to follow a gluten free diet, this was no problem, in fact there...was too much to choose from! I had the fish and chips, crispy and plentiful. The lady who served us was very friendly and helpful, explaining where we could go for an interesting walk locally after our meal. Highly recommended. We will be to back to explore more of the menu!More

Superb Sunday roast yet again at Green Acres Caravan Park in Carlisle. Delivered to the site piping hot, huge portion with all the trimmings and a beautiful Yorkshire pudding on top! Never fails to impress us. Thank you!

We recently stayed at Green Acres caravan park and made use of the facilities from Skitby, this consisting of a Sunday Lunch delivered to the site. We have used them before and found the meals to be of excellent t quality, hence the reason for...using them again on this visit. However, sadly the meal this time was below standard, we ordered the Roast Beef with Yorkshire Puddings, imagine our surprise when one of the meals arrived without a Yorkshire Pudding and being from Yorkshire, we were very disappointed. Green Acres apologised, however, have yet to hear from Skitby 🥲. Sorry to say we will not be utilising this service again.More

We had a 45cover Sunday lunch for a family event. Katherine and the team at Skitby were brilliant throughout. Great communication through the booking and couldn't have been more helpful on the day. Food was great, venue superb and staff brilliant.

I was here for a wedding recently. An absolutely beautiful location, improved by the glorious weather. The staff, all young, were so efficcient, friendly and helpful. It is very difficult serving a very large wedding party, but they did it so well. Prices were average,...not escalated to shock 😂. On a long shift, all staff were smiling and the food was divine, I’m coeliac, and my dietary requirements were attended to, above and beyond. The GF bacon bagel in the evening was absolutely gorgeous.Compliments to the kitchen catering team, who I did not see,but thankyou. It was a wonderful day, and I would heartily recommend this place.More

First impressions count in this game and my first impressions didn’t. On arrival on side of the gate was left closed which made entry to the place awkward so had to get out and place the gate back with the wedge of stone as not...to inconvenience other people. Car parking look like a random affair as cars were parked with no defined markings which made parking awkward to find a spot, this looked like a classic case of being over booked. Once inside we waited by the door to be told wait a minute and I’ll come to you….still standing for 5 min’s was then asked can we help you by a different person. I have a booking for 1:45 which was now 1:50. Take a seat and we will be over shortly to take a drinks order. This was another 5 min’s and when asked would you like a drink? I asked, “What do you have?”, what do you want was the reply. No menu so I asked what beer was on offer? “We have a San Miguel or Black Sheep on tap.” So one beer as San Miguel is a continental lager? A drink arrived but it was a good further 5 min’s after that for a menu and was told they were turning tables so my conclusion of over booked was correct! Once sat down we were on a nicely laid table but was in the direct path of the outside door which was left open more or less throughout the meal. It was closed once when they were asked to do so, and I did it as well but gave up after a short while! A hinge on this wouldn’t go a miss. However, saying this the food was plenty but the meat was slightly over cooked for me. There was plenty of vegetables but no serving spoons were supplied, extra gravy was also good. Cauliflower Cheese was great but again no serving spoon and no warning the plate it was cooked in was also hot! The meal itself was good but I would get someone to sit in the dining room, opposite the kitchen in door, get a member of staff to walk in and out the kitchen door (about 10 times should do) as keen as it was on a Sunday serving! The noise from the door constantly banging back is annoying to say the lease. Again, a hint here would be to stop the banging with a stopper of some sort.More

Four of us ate here on a Friday evening, we had booked but were the only people in the restaurant that evening. The menu had a good choice of food options at very reasonable prices and in many cases sourced from the local area. The...lady serving us was very pleasant and helpful with our food choices. When the food arrived it was nicely presented, served piping hot and we all agreed was very tasty. At the end of the meal, we spent a few minutes looking around the quirky little shop on site. We will certainly return.More

We booked in for Sunday lunch, although I was a little apprehensive givent he current climate, when we got to Skitby I felt immediately at ease. The lady greeted us and asked us to use the sanitiser, which we did, we were shown to our...table and seated. The tables were more than 2 metres apart, which felt to me as if they really cared how their guests felt during the time spent there, and not trying to cram as many tables in as possible. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and polite. I was asked whilst paying if I felt safe enough during my meal, this was such a nice thing to ask, and yes I did feel safe. We had a voucher from pre lockdown which they honoured. First time at Skitby House and will definately be back - such a lovely setting to have dinner or lunch. Thank You for making our Sunday relaxed and enjoyable in these hard times.More
