We often eat at this restaurant, along with the odd takeaway. Excellent top notch curry, as good as any curry we have had; and I have eaten a lot of curries :) Food very fresh, and they never mind altering the recipes as my wife likes a very, very mild curry. Nice ambiance in the restaurant, along with attentive staff. Once turned up when they were fully booked but they still managed to fit us in. Easy parking in the Park carpark across the road (and a little west) or in front of the shops on the other side of the road.

Best around, we dont go anywhere else now

At present during Covid, there is no eating in but the takeaway and delivery allows us to enjoy the great food from here. Its flavoursome, its not greasy like others can be, always hot, always a smile and a welcome. When the restaurant is open and we have a treat with a sit in, the staff are attentive without over attentive. Love them

When me and my fiancé moved

When me and my fiancé moved nearby, we were convinced after trying 2 or 3 different Indians that we were never going to find one quite like the one in our home town... WELL, Blue Ginger may quite knock that one out of the park. Every dish we’ve tried here has been amazing. The service of the staff is lovely, you’re never waiting long and the food is absolutely delicious. It’s our ‘go to’ Indian now! Highly recommend :)

Some worrying signs

I love this place but I am starting to see worrying signs that need addressing. For the second time my pick up has been no where near the time suggested from the confirmation email. There is no point in telling someone 40 minutes if they have to wait an hour plus. Its better to tell the customer a realistic time. I was told there was a rush order, which basically means someone else was prioritised over you (although the resturant was nealy empty). The food has started to be variable, which was unheard of previously. One week the Suka was bland and spiceless, good the following. The bhaji are dripping are now very greasy. I recommend this place to colleagues as the best in Bedford but the kitchen has started to look chaotic and I am worried for the place.

Disappointing Take Away this time (Very Greasy)

I've been to Blue Ginger in person several times in the past and have always enjoyed it. Always thought the food was tasty. However I was recently unwell and a family member sent me some Just eat vouchers to make sure that I ate something. I ordered a takeaway from Blue Ginger with high expectations. I was disappointed with just how incredibly greasy the food was. It was so oily that the oil had leaked through to the cardboard outer of the containers. The food was also almost an hour later than the estimated delivery time and was lukewarm. I actually enjoyed the leftovers the following day more, when I added extra fresh vegetables to the curries and it was at the right temperature. A much better balance of flavour and texture. More fresh veggies in there please and less oil and please find a way to get the takeaways to people before they get cold.

Welcoming staff and delicious fresh food

We visited Blue Ginger on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is clean and modern. Staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our experience enjoyable. The food was bought out quickly and tasted so fresh and delicious. We will definitely be visiting again.

Outstanding Local Curry Shop

As soon as Bozza announced lockdown 2 on Saturday I was on the phone to Blue Ginger to book a last meal out for a while. Table for 5 was ready on arrival, social distancing was in place and we felt very comfortable, service was good as always and the food outstanding and great value for money. Highly recommended ... They do delivery too which is always piping hot and we shall be using until we can visit again.

Amazing unplanned meal :)

Wasn’t planning on dining at BlueGinger tonight but luckily on phoning they had a table available. Starters of a king Prawn purée and Vegetable samosas went down very well. The fish Korai was so good and flavoursome. Not had it for a while but I’ll definitely be having it again soon. The dish of the day was the Lamb Shally. We had a little hotter than our daughter. We all said how tender the lamb was. As always the service was exceptional! Thank you

I never give them my money ever again!

I’ve been living in Kempston for nearly 6 years now and have used Blue Ginger regularly in all that time. New Year’s Eve we ordered food via their own website, the money left my daughters account and the restaurant refused to honour the order, ask what the order was, ask if we were loyal customers? Nothing! They could not care less! My daughter was told to ring back at a less busy time which she did, the blue ginger employee told my daughter he did not have the time to deal with her issue and if she was worried about her £50 she should have been in contact earlier! As it worked out the bank did not honour the payment… result! As of this experience I will never use Blue Ginger again. I recommend Coriander in town, they at least give you a vegetable curry with your biryanis!

Always excellent food and service

We live locally and visit here every couple of months. It’s easily the best in the area and is now the only place in Bedford we go to (for curry). The food is great quality with ideal portion sizes. A very good selection of standard curry dishes plus house specialties. The service is always excellent and the staff (including the owner) will always chat if they’re not too busy.

Disappointing. Luke warm food, naan bread stale, cold and rubbery.

SUMMARY:The Naan bread was mot fresh and was rubbery and cold. The chicken tikka massala was luke warm. When I telephoned Blue Ginger to give feedback over the phone, whomever answered seemed disinterested and said that the next time I order he will make sure I don't have these issues. I won't be reordering with them in the future. Why would I when there is so much competition out there. To be clear I was not requesting a discount, refund or anything else ..I just wanted to know that they were listening. I got the impression they were not. REVIEW: Blue Ginger now operates a Takeaway Service and in the past we have had good meals. This evening the meal was disappointing. I ordered through there app which I would rate 10/10. I received emails and text messages giving me an estimation time for collection of 30 minutes. I arrived 10 minutes early and collected the food only a few minutes after their estimation. It took me 7 minutes to walk home with the food which I had placed in an insulated bag to keep it warm. The naan bread was not freshly made and was cold and rubbery. The chicken tikka massala was cold. The onion basis, pilau rice and other items were satisfactory but we have had better meals from Blue Ginger in the past I would rate the food on this occasion as 5/10.

Tasteless and ethicless

We ordered veg and lamb samosa, even the container which had veg written on it had lamb samosa and as someone who is a pure veg, I had meat. We also ordered 3 biryani’s which were horrible. They do not know what Biryani is, it was just tasteless pilav rice mixed with bland veg, chicken and lamb. A disgrace on name of Indian/asian restaurant. Beware before eating and do not go here if you want authentic Asian subcontinent food.

Lovely takeaway

Had our first takeaway tonight. Process of ordering was easy. I liked that gluten was clearly marked on the dishes so I knew what I could have without worry. Delivery was quick and food was hot on arrival. We had especially enjoyed the Chicken Makhany and Chicken Shahi Mogul and dessert of Gajar Ka Halw. Husband happy has he has the leftovers for his packed lunch tomorrow. Definitely recommend.

Excellent prompt delivery. Delivery driver very friendly . I have dined out and have had a variety of takeaways from different Restaurants over the years. My guilty pleasure is the Prawn Puree starter . Blue Ginger does this exceptionally ! Well. From the beautiful soft bread coupled with a crispy texture - it makes a perfect base for the succulent fresh prawns , nestled in a deliscious (spice just right ) sauce . The main was also of a high quality and balance of flavours . Thank you to Al at Blue Ginger Tracey

Blue Ginger never fails to impress! From superb delivery service to stunning food that is consistently superb. The Chicken Momo starter I thoroughly recommend - beautifully spiced shredded chicken is a mouth watering wrap, generous portion size but not too much to spoil the main meal. Chicken Tikka Biryani is consistently good and the choice of side curries to go with the dish, lends a freedom of personal choice Thank you to all the staff at Blue Ginger Tracey & Andy
