Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Castle. The location was ideal for a family Wedding in town, just off the main part of town, meaning that this area was quiet both day and in the evening. There was parking for the car which didn't move...the whole weekend as the town centre is just so near. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and the bar was just the quintessential 19th C. English pub. Next time we're in Bedford, this is where we'll be heading.More

Took a room here for our last night of a 10 day trip - admit we were exhausted. Room was clean and comfortable. We had a round of drinks in the pub and enjoyed the atmosphere and meeting the smiliest dog I've ever seen. Food...options were limited.More

This is a really sweet traditional pub with friendly staff and brilliant decor. There’s a range of seating options including some nice window booths and a small garden area. Prices aren’t the cheapest but there’s a good range and it’s nice to see food options...from a couple of the local restaurants. I’d happily return here for a relaxing drink and I’d recommend!More

Went here for a drink and food with family. The staff were great, with a good selection of cask ales. We got the Thai, which is delivered from rice Thai around the corner - all of the food was very tasty. Will definitely be back.

Track and trace in place for everyone, sanitiser on entry, one way system and the tables and chairs are sanitised after use, a very pleasant and enjoyable experience in this new “normal” world. Definitely worth a visit

The pub seems very popular & can understand why. There is a good choice of draught beers and ciders. We also had dinner there. The menu has meat, fish vegetarian and gluten free options. The dishes are homemade so they do take longer to prepare....The portions seem small but are very nice and filling. The Good Pub Guide says worth a visit and it is... It doesn't serve dinner on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings.More

We visited for a Saturday lunch. We were pleased to find our favourite cloudy cider available. We all ordered burgers. Mine was a veggi halloumi and mushroom. It was a pity the mushroom was very greasy and were slices of button mushrooms instead of a...grilled portabello mushroom I was expecting as all the tiny pieces kept falling out. I ended up leaving these grease saturated slices. The rest of the meal was nice enough. The staff were very friendly and coped well with a studden influx of football and rugby fans.More

Friendly welcoming here, which was nice. We had beef and pork, both were nice with all the trimmings, including a very nice cauliflower cheese, my only gripe was no mash potatoes! Very much a locals pub here.

Met a friend for dinner and drinks. Had the venison burger which was very tasty and the burger was nicely cooked. Not sure if it was fresh or frozen but regardless it was good. At the end I had the banoffee pie with ice cream...which was delicious. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. The pub is great, is nicely decorated and has a lovely atmosphere.More
