Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice welcome and were taken to a nice table by the fire. We ordered the Sunday roast platter for 2. The food itself was good with lots of nice vegetables, Yorkshire pudding not the best, but the main problem was the meal was luke warm...and after eating half of it, it was stone cold. When asked how the meal was I told them the meal was nice but not very warm, there was no offer to rectify this for us. It would have been so much more enjoyable if the meal had been hot. I was going to suggest it to friends for a group Xmas lunch but won’t bother now..More

Lovely place and attentive staff but food let it down. I ordered roast chicken breast, it was a bit chewy & lacking flavour. The latte was so strong I couldn’t drink it

Lovely place but portions are tiny. Left feeling hungry! Ordered from the Cosy lunch which was 2 or 3 courses from a set menu. I had lamb starter (2 tiny pieces on a few lettuce leaves), sea bass main which was 1 small fillet on...a couple of potatoes with a bit of spinach, then ginger parkin pud which was the size of a finger. Ok I get it's a set price but boy do you get minimum amounts. A friend had the steak which seemed a decent size but came with no salad or veg....be careful of choices or if you have a big appetite maybe order from the main menu as these maybe bigger portions. Service was fine though.More

Whilst the food was ok, the service was awful. Went for Sunday dinner, we chose the sharer option of a trio of meats, firstly there were only two meats! Secondly we were not told till it was brought to the table that they had run...out of cauliflower cheese. The service was poor, with no one asking if the food was ok, considering there was only three other tables in and four waiting staff, not great service!More

A friend and I went for midweek lunch to the Rope & Anchor and ordered from the 'Cosy Menu' which had 2 courses for £14.95 or 3 courses for £16.95. We enjoyed the starter but when it came to ordering the main course, I ordered...rump steak but was told that they had none, so had to order fish. When we ordered the pudding we were told that they had no Ginger Parkin so my friend ordered Baileys ice cream, but they had none of that either so she ordered coffee, only to be told that the coffee machine was broken. How can a pub which specializes in food not have steak, or 2 different puddings off an already short menu? And how can a restaurant not be able to serve coffee, something with which most people order at the end of a meal. Very poor.More
