Until recently I have lived in the Altrincham and Sale area all of my life. I had no knowledge of this fish and chip shop until a recent taxi ride when the driver told me that this was the best fish and chip shop in the area. I always order two steak puddings plus chips and gravy. Whenever I visit Altrincham on a day trip from Conwy I call into the Altrincham Fish Bar. If everything goes to plan I will be there twice next month. I cannot wait!!!!!!!

Amazing batter, tasty and fresh and flaky fish, perfect chips.
Stopped by for a quick lunch today, and boy are we glad we did! The potatoes were of great quality = really tasty chips and the batter on the fish was not like the bog standard you get - it was almost like some sort of secret family recipe. Really tasty and not too dry or too soggy, just perfect.
Very friendly staff.
We wished we had this place around our corner.

First time visited this place on reccomendation of husband. My husband visited it with NHS staff and he really loved the food. He said he would take us one day. Me and my daughter ended up getting a takeaway for lunch as we passed by. The food is delicious. The fish was light and fluffy and the best I've ever had. The chips also really cooked well light golden not crunchy or mushy just right and not to oily. Perfectly made. Will come again with full family and they deserve 5*****

Always loved fish and chips from Altrincham Fish Bar. Called tonight on the way home and the chips were awful, undercooked and greasy and went straight in the bin, the fish wasn't much better. This is the third time I've been disappointed. Won't be going again soon.

I first ate fish and chips here in the sixties and the place looks pretty much the same as it did then. The fish and chips have always been of the highest quality. Today's visit is the first time I've been disappointed. First I asked if the restaurant was still open (I arrived about 2.15) I was told no, I wanna go home, by one of the two women serving. When I turned to leave, she said "I'm joking".
I'm not complaining about that but not the best way to speak to customers.
My fish was cooked well, but the chips were stale and dry. When I pay £14.20 for fish and chips and a cup of tea I expect freshly cooked food.

Great food and service. Generous size fish and portion of chips. Properly cooked and warm. Reasonable eat in price or takeaway. Can sit outside for the sturdy.

Thank goodness this fish bar has been able to reopen. Excellent food as usual. Had to try WA14 then Costas in the last two weeks when the Altrincham Fish bar was closed. The food at these two places was AWFUL.

Not the cheapest fish and chips I have ever eaten, but the quality was very high indeed. The haddock, in particular, was absolutely beautiful. A case of getting what you pay for. The fixed tables are a bit of a squeeze for the less mobile and anyone with a serious disability would struggle. However, there are also tables outside on the terrace with tons of legroom. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Would be happy to go back any time.

We came to this place years ago and it was 5*we found it again last week and it was still 5*. It was delicious. We live in lytham but the drive out and the market and full atmosphere was fab. Keep it going your simply the best.

We went as a family to sit inside on one of the big booths. The lady was extremely rude implicating there was no room for a pram. There were a couple of other families sat inside with prams already but rather than ask us nicely to leave this outside, she made it very clear that we were not welcome. On asking where she would prefer for us to sit, she was rude again and her tone very inappropriate in front of young children. She offered no alternative option other than for us to leave. This is not the first time we have encountered rude behavior from staff. It is a shame as the food is good but not worth the attitude!!

A non fancy restaurant which also serves food to take away at the chippy counter. Fish always freshly cooked - so meaty and amazing batter. Chips fabulous and their mushies are just right!
I come from London for these fish & chips - I have been coming here since I was a girl - now much much older!!
Family run & has a real loyal following.
You won’t be disappointed- I drool thinking about their food.

Hot, fresh and delicious! As a veggie options are always slightly more limited at a fish bar but amazing chips, fabulous mushy peas and gravy - the first time I asked if the gravy was veggie I was presented with a catering tub of (veggie) gravy to inspect ! Always friendly, efficient and helpful. When I have dined with non-veggies they too have been very happy with hot fresh crispy fish.
