The Ostrich is all about the ambience and the history. The 3rd oldest pub on the U.K. Or is rich with history having it's found in place since the 1100s and serving customers since the 1500s It is cozy inside as the ceilings are low Great selections of beers and I do recommend trying the ciders The food is pub... As someone who regularly stays in Colnbrook, The Ostrich has become the de facto restaurant for me and my work colleagues, and for good reason. There's large platefuls quality tasty food, nothing too fancy for my Northern palate, with the steak and mushroom pie, and fish and chips being my regular options. For dessert I've never strayed far from the... More

First time back since renovation. Excellent, one of the best in the area. Service, beer and wine all spot on.

Stumbled upon this place by chance. They were busy but just managed to accommodate the four of us so will book ahead next time we go. Prices were slightly higher than most pubs but don't let that put you off because the food is excellent. Highly recommended.

I stayed for one night. Used to live in the area so know this place well. It's newly renovated and has just 11 rooms. Mine was very nice, decorated to a high standard. Only issue (not for me) may be that the rooms are right on the road, it's not a busy road though. Restaurant also very good. I'd recommend... More

Great Sunday Lunch for a table of 5. Pub was quiet, but dinning area was full. The Pub has a great history and atmosphere and the Ghost stories kept the kids entertained for the duration of the meal.

Old coaching inn situated at Colnbrook just off the M4. Handy for Heathrow. Had no low alcohol beers - don't think the barmaid had heard of the concept. Looked at pump labels "this one is only 4%". Eventually offered a no alcohol beer, which as an aside was dreadful. A number of items on the menu were not available -... More

My partner knew about the history and I always wanted to go for a visit after his stories about their history. The bar staff gave us a show around which was really nice. We decided to stay for food and we're not disappointed. The filet steak and dauphinoise was fantastic. I would recommend having some more starter options which are... More

We visited The Ostrich for a Christmas lunch. Arriving early we were told to wait for our table to be prepared. This wait should of been a warning for what was what was to follow....After about 15mins we were told that our table was now ready and to go through to the dining area. The dining area which apart from... More

Description
Believed to date back to the 12th century, The Ostrich on the old Bath to London road, close to Heathrow Airport and Terminal 5, is said to be England's third oldest inn. It's certainly a very fine example of its kind, combining everything you'd expect in a historic coaching inn: beams, nooks, fireplaces, crooked stairs, a cobbled courtyard and an interesting (albeit macabre) history. The chunky contemporary wooden furniture and bright colours come as a bit of a surprise, and work well with the huge, sagging beams, standing timbers and open fires. A wide-ranging menu serves good, freshly prepared food and reflects the demands of the area (the M4 and M25 are very near) and the concomitant mix of people. The specials board changes daily, while a lunch menu that is always ready within 20 minutes. A hearty Sunday lunch menu is served all dy long allowing you to indulge in a proper lie in and still have time for a roast.A private function room upstairs plays host to regular comedy nights and is available for hire for functions.
