5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed in the deluxe room with the lovely bath, the staff could not have been more accommodating to our needs and we had a fantastic stay! The breakfast is wonderful! We were staying as a friend was having a big birthday at the Ostrich and it was well catered for, with great food, drink, atmosphere and fun! Highly recommended!

2 of us went for a beer one night. Cozy with a heater near the table (in Jan). Then about 10 of us went there after a work conference. The food and beer selections are very good. We had a separate room so it was very convenient for talking and not bothering others. The service was not consistent. One server... More

If you go to the Ostrich wear your thermals, it is like sitting in a fridge. The management seem to think the locals and visitors will pay for over rated beer and food while freezing there bits off. Moral of the story is wait until the summer or wait until shepherd neame sort out this pub that used to be... More

the pub is really old but beautiful. if you are tall you might need to watch your head as everything is medium sized. The service is good and the food really good. The grilled salmon is what i recommend. If you want a lemonade, do expect sprite and a piece of lemon :). Totally worth a visit.

Sad to hear the previous reviews, after their recent refurbishment and addition of rooms for staying I tried out this 6th oldest coaching Inn in the country for lunch. A pint and good old sausage and mash. Great service, tasty food and reasonable price. Good atmosphere, although only a handful of people at around 2pm. The room was cold and... More

I booked a meal here and whilst the food was good the service was appalling. Firstly they completely missed one of the meals. Two of the other meals were incorrect having asked for certain items to be removed from the burgers they were not removed. I ordered drinks from the waitress and they never came,I later tried to order more... More

Booked online using excellent and quick booking function with text confirmation. Unfortunately, I was generally disappointed having anticipated a relaxing candle lit restaurant in an atmospheric old coaching inn, with open fires on such a cold evening, but this wasn't the case. Female staff member was really friendly, polite and efficient. Full marks there. Unfortunately I was dismayed to be... More

Very disappointing meal. We had a table for 4 at 7:45pm on a Saturday and were told they had run out of Ham, Gammon, Pork and had 1 Lamb left! My wife chose chicken and chorizo which was dry and tasteless and with the smallest portion of cabbage ever. I had the last lamb which was tough, fatty and chewy.... More

We had 2 hours to fill before picking up my grandaughter from a party near by, so I booked us in for Sunday afternoon meal. The place has been refurbished well and the place has a very nice feel about it, but as others had sad the Service does let the Restaurant /Pub/Hotel down, we had 2 hours to fill,... More

Believed to date back to the 12th century, The Ostrich on the old Bath to London road, close to Heathrow Airport and Terminal 5, is said to be England's third oldest inn. It's certainly a very fine example of its kind, combining everything you'd expect in a historic coaching inn: beams, nooks, fireplaces, crooked stairs, a cobbled courtyard and an interesting (albeit macabre) history. The chunky contemporary wooden furniture and bright colours come as a bit of a surprise, and work well with the huge, sagging beams, standing timbers and open fires. A wide-ranging menu serves good, freshly prepared food and reflects the demands of the area (the M4 and M25 are very near) and the concomitant mix of people. The specials board changes daily, while a lunch menu that is always ready within 20 minutes. A hearty Sunday lunch menu is served all dy long allowing you to indulge in a proper lie in and still have time for a roast.A private function room upstairs plays host to regular comedy nights and is available for hire for functions.
