We found this little gem when looking for somewhere to have a cream tea. As we were in the throes of a heatwave it was nice to see they had 3 outside tables with brollies, they also have indor seating Careful observations of Covid risk reduction in place, seating for 6 people outside in total, staff wearing face guards and tables sterilised between customers. The cream tea was delicious, lovely warm scone and good portion of cream and jam served with lovely leaf tea servied with china cups. There is a good choice on the menu, we also sampled the pannini's but noted that they have specials if you want more substantial meal. There is also a deli and they produce gin and vodka too. This place is well worth a try.

We visited on a sunny Monday in September- they were very busy but served us a superb lunch followed by Devon cream tea with superb homemade scones. The staff are very very friendly and helpful . I would highly recommend a visit . They have homemade specials too - such as soup and chilli . The cakes on offer looked good but we were full after our lunch plus cream tea - must go back ! They also sell local preserves , gin, rum biscuits etc as gifts

We visited back in March and the cream tea was wonderful, so making a return visit on Wednesday we were ABIT disappointed. My husband's scone was served and when he cut into it, it was frozen still in the middle, also both servings of the clotted cream seamed to have been frozen too. Certainly not the high standard it was previously. But the staff did correct things and were full of apologies, but still left disappointed compared to our last visit

We were looking for place where we could get a cup of tea and a cake and fit five people and three dogs in. This fairly small place looked promising for the food but seemed to present a challenge on space however a speculative enquiry was met with enthusiastic exhortations to enter. We were seated at the only table that could accommodate us but actually without being crowded.
My daughter was keen to have a scone at some point in the holiday but had been frustrated by all previous locations only offering the fruited variety. She was delighted that three varieties of home baked scones were on offer including plain, fruited and cheese. Devon cream teas in two varieties of scones were ordered plus another with cappuccino cake. There was a wide variety of teas on offer, all loose leaf, and we all opted for Assam. The tea was served with an eclectic mix of vintage tea cups, no two the same, and very generous portions of strawberry jam and clotted cream which we were assured would be topped up if needed, which seemed unlikely. The scones arrived nicely warm, well risen and of generous size. The scones were simply delicious, the best that most of us could recall eating in many years of sampling in various places, including many in the county immediately to the west. There was a brief debate about whether the cream was to be applied in the Devon style or the Cornish style but in deference to our location we applied the cream first. Not a word of criticism was to be heard and, although not needed, the final act of great service was the delivery of some diced chicken for the dogs.
If you are ever looking for a decent cup of tea in Sidmouth with a good choice of cakery served by happy staff, I couldn’t recommend the Dairy Shop more highly.

What an amazing find. We found this great little shop come cafe and enjoyed a couple of hours sampling their delights: from pasties, to cream teas and finished off with gin and tonics. The gin is made on the premises so we also bought a bottle to take home too. Service was so friendly . I would definitely recommend a visit.

Found this gem by accident! Absolutely delicious food with a huge choice, extensive gluten free options with friendly efficient staff.
The shop had a great range of local produce & gluten free pies. It even had its own gin selection.

The home of Sidmouth gin!! I found this hidden gem on a previous visit to Sidmouth and can highly recommend the award winning gins, but on this latest trip I discovered they are now running a gin school and was quick to book this with a couple of friends. The evening started with a gin & tonic (85% ABV) excellent start and then John (the owner) and Ellie were amazing they explained about the history of gin and then talked us through the process while we chose the botanicals for our own personal bottle, within two hours we were holding our own flavoured gin. Excellent couple of hours would highly recommend this for all gin drinkers out there.

We called in just for a quick coffee and a bite to eat. The food was excellent so was the coffee. We now call in regular just for a coffee as it tastes so good. Talking to the waitress the coffee is roasted in Sidmouth it’s good to support local business

An amazing little deli shop with fantastic choice of produce. We visited here as our accommodation welcome basket ( Old Scout Hut) had gorgeous jams and apple juice from here. Purchased jams, chutneys and beers as gifts all fantastic.

Found this lovely little independent café whilst visiting Sidmouth for the day. Food was delicious ( I highly recommend the fresh crab sandwich!) and the coffee was good too. Left with a bottle of the rhubarb gin that they distill on the premises ( other gins flavours are available too!). Relaxing and comfortable, will definitely visit again when we’re next in Sidmouth 😁

Lovely small shop and café. Friendly and welcoming to both myself and my dog. Lovely cuppa and bacon roll. Will visit more frequently now that I have seen what they have to offer. Some different food items which will make nice gifts for birthdays and Christmas.

I bought a 'Cornish' pasty from this place. I asked the man to heat it. He said he did. It was half cold and half warm. Pasty not cooked and after one bit I had to throw it away. I have had a bad taste in my mouth every since.

This was our 2nd visit and we were really pleased to see that it was open again. I had the gluten free homity pie - it was delicious. This is where on my first visit I had a pasty for the first time in 35 yrs!!!!! They are so good that we purchased extra to take home for tea the next day. My family both had pasties and said that they were equally as delicious. We are so pleased that they are able to have tables outside as well to help provide social distancing.

we were greeted in a very friendly way, the service and food were excellent, they made time for us and even showed us their gin making facility. Lots of jams bottles of interesting alcoholic drinks for sale etc. They are also very eco conscious, a nice touch in this modern day world. Only a few tables are available but well worth a wait if they are busy.
