Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Between our group of 5 we had quite a few different flavours.
My first one was a Rum & Raisin which was full of flavour and taste, best was to describe it is very creamy and very moreish. Rum and Raisin can be quite plasticky in taste but not this one. Rating 10/10
My next one was a Blueberry, I don't want to bore you too much but yet again it was creamy and full of flavour. Rating 10/10
I would advise you to get a ice cream from another establishment first and the next one from here and you will not go back to the 1st one for your 3rd one I am quite sure.
Son also had a pasty which he said was great.
All the ice cream is made on the premises and travels well to the front counter.
Staff were lovely also..
Well done Taste.

During all our Lockdown exercise walks in Sidmouth we have made a pitstop at Taste of Sidmouth for their excellent Takeaway Bacon or Sausage Baps and Strong Fresh Coffee. Their always very helpful staff, and good quality food very reasonably priced ensures that we will keep coming back. On a sunny day the seats in the nearby churchyard are sheltered and a perfect spot to eat, drink and enjoy Sidmouth. Thank you Taste!

We popped into 'Taste' today for a quick bite to eat for lunch (Saturday).
The staff were all extremely busy, working hard to meet a high demand of hungry visitors to Sidmouth; we expect due to the dry weather forecast.
We ordered food and were impressed with ours, especially the freshly made omlettes and tastly organic soup.
We couldn't help but notice the large queue outside for their excellent ice-creams which never seemed to change in length but, happy customers were walking out with their hands full of cones and cups loaded with their choice of ice :)
A special thanks to Jenny and Sophie who sorted out a 'small issue' very promptly.
We will definitely return when we visit Sidmouth in the future!

We got ice creams at the end of a 13mile walk and we were so happy we chose this place! I had biscoff with a waffle cone and the scoop was massive and the ice cream itself was creamy and delicious. The staff were very friendly and let me sample a couple flavours in order to help me make a decision. My sister's a vegan and they had a sorbet option so she was also happy. Would definitely recommend!

Although the ice cream itself was good, the person serving us today was not quite up to the job. Four ice creams ordered, 2 cones were broken in the attempts to get ice cream into them and my daughter's had almost melted by the time daddy got his. Portion sizing was poor compared to the better trained girls working either side. Topped off by finding out the small waffle cone chosen by my daughter was actually a gluten free cone, and this wasn't labelled where we were so we paid a hefty premium for something we didn't need without the server letting us know.
Appreciate the food and drink industry are trying hard to get back on their feet right now, a little more work needed here.
I would go back and recommend the raspberry ripple, but hope staff training improves.

Wife and I shared a honeycomb ice-cream in a waffle cone which was absolutely delicious, genuinely one of the best ice-creams we've ever had. We were told by the local cafe (selleys, also excellent) that Taste made their own ice cream and were so glad we dropped by. The waffle cone was fantastically fresh too, a perfect accompaniment to the ice cream.

OMG I love this place so much. Sidmouth is a wonderful seaside town just down the road from where we live; Exeter. We regularly attend the taste cafe as I am a coeliac on a gluten free diet. I can eat sausage rolls, pasties, cakes and ice creams catered for on my diet. Staff are excellent and you won't be disappointed with a visit to Sidmouth and especially the Taste cafe. You'll thank me later x

Whilst the general service was great there was one person in particular who was, what I can only class as rude. She made our experience awkward and didn't have any manners. We, as a family, simply love our local ice cream parlour, especially the milkshakes, but this put a dampner on the day. Amazing ice cream, simply the best, just two negative experiences, as this employee was also was the same towards my children previously.

We've been coming to Sidmouth every year for our annual holiday and we've always enjoyed their amazing ice creams (at least once a day during our stay) however, this year we've been dissapointed with some of the young staff serving us, although the ice cream taste is still delicious, some of the staff look and act so miserable, they are ruining the good reputation of the business, most of them won't even greet you, the serving sizes were bit of a hit and miss as well ( my husband's double ice cream was exactly the same size as my son's single) which I felt was bit of a rip off, especially in comparison to what the sizes usually look like. Overall I just didn't think the staff did the business any favour. Especially today (28/8 @12.30) young blond girl serving us looked and acted so miserable, consta rolling her eyes when someone talked to her, she then got our order wrong and we had to repeat numerous time, what we actually ordered... I hope the owner chooses their staff more carefully next summer to bring the business back to it's fantastic standard..

As a local to Sidmouth we have been to taste lots of times as we love the ice cream! However, today we were given tiny portions to what we have received before and then staff stood behind the counter openly talking about us and staring at us whilst my husband, my two young children and myself ate our ice cream. I felt so uncomfortable and upset by the experience and will be telling friends about this. What a shame that the staff feel that it is ok to behave like this towards customers especially locals who visit regularly.

I would like to apologise to you and your family for this very, very unfortunate and uncharacteristic event in my shop.
My staff pride themselves on creating a happy and welcoming environment in the shop as I am sure you have experienced before.
If you would like to email me on info@tasteofsidmouth.co.uk I would like to try to rectify the situation.

Loads of ice cream flavours to choose from including a few seasonal Easter ones. I tried the Smarties flavour as sadly they were all out of creme egg which sounded amazing! My friend had the coffee flavour and both were really tasty. Gluten free cones on offer which were perfect quality and texture.
We returned again the next morning for a slice of the gluten free lemon drizzle cake which was quite sticky and not as lemony as I expected but still very nice.
Everything was very reasonable priced and the staff were friendly.

Lovely consistency! Very delicious.
Would try a different flavour as the salted caramel was not salty enough, but that’s personal taste. Very busy which shows you it is a good place. Would come back again.

This was always our favourite ice cream shop when the children were growing up with huge portions of tasty homemade ice cream. We stopped going for a while when 2 of us became vegan but when we saw they had started serving vegan flavours we went back.
The taste, quality and size were just as we remembered and with a variety of flavours to choose from.
What a treat.

Stopped here this morning for a quick £3.60 bacon roll and was extremely disappointed to be handed a large bap with a solitary rasher of bacon inside. Just felt like I was eating a dry roll. Should have complained at the time in hindsight but certainly won't be going there again.

Very strange review as the price of the bacon roll is incorrect as ours are £3.00 and also at Taste we pride ourselves on giving value for money and we would NEVER serve a bap with one slice of bacon in it.

We popped in for a sausage and bacon bap, it was honestly the worst bacon I have ever had, it wasn’t even cooked, nothing like the pictures on display, it looked like it was boiled in water.
The sausages were obviously from the day before and heated up in a microwave, they had the consistency of rubber, very chewy.
The bap was way too thick and just crumbled when eaten.
Never again, much nicer places in Sidmouth than here for a bacon roll.
