Il Piatto Ristorante Italiano is celebrated by many for offering delicious and authentic Italian dishes that represent good value for money, despite the occasional hiccup in service during peak hours. Guests are charmed by the cozy and vibrant ambiance, although some find it to be on the louder side. The food, made with fresh ingredients, generally receives high marks for its homemade quality, although there are sporadic mentions of variability in service and dish consistency. While the service is often described as friendly and efficient, it can falter when the restaurant is bustling.

We jus got back from a lovely meal here. My wife and I both had capreae salad and risotto pizzaiola followed by melted chocolate cake (like a fondant really, served with ice cream. Lovely!) Our son had pasta pomodoro and caramel ice cream for pudding. A glass of wine, a diet coke and an apple juice and it only came to £44 which is excellent value - I was imagining £60+ Thus is because we ate from the two courses for £11 menu which is active various times including before seven on a Saturday. We would have happily eaten for full price anyway as everything was very nice but that sort of value is always a bonus. Nice home made bread with oil and balsamic to eat while you browse the menu. Our caprease was excellent - plenty proper mozzarella with a bit of rocket, good balsamic and nice slightly marinated tomatoes I think. Risotto really good too, nice texture not overdone mush as you can sometimes get elsewhere. Lovely staff too can't fault the place.

Meals were enjoyable but a couple of points need to be made. Began by sharing the anti-pasta starter. Plenty of it for two and all good except for the circular cuts of meat which were cut far too thickly, impossible to chew. Main course selections, Pollo Alla Pizzaiola and Salmone Alla Siciliana, both delicious. The wine selection was limited and our waitress was unable to answer basic questions any guest would ask. Instead of just saying 'I'm sorry I just don't know, I'll get somebody', she blagged. As a result we ended up with an over-sweet wine that spoilt an otherwise lovely gastronomic experience. This should not happen in an Italian restaurant. Let this not take anything away from the food though, it was top dollar!

We are a family of five, and booked a table several weeks ago. This place is amazing, we were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in and shown to our table. The food was well priced, home made and so tasty, I highly recommend the Lasagna which my daughter loved, my Grandaughters both thought the carbonara was the best they’d ever had and my grandson loved his ‘make your own pizza’ Deserts were fantastic and once again homemade. What sets this restaurant above the others is the service, the two young servers were both friendly and attentive. Thank you for giving us a fantastic evening to remember.

I walked in today and approached a small lady at the bar who immediately told me I came in the wrong way and I should have used the other entrance. There was no indication of this on the entrance I used. I asked if they had a table for one. I was asked by the rude woman to remove my mask. I don't think English was her first language. Another much nicer lady came over and told the other woman to seat me at the front. The rude woman abruptly handed me the menu. She returned to take my order and was still quite abrupt with me. I was given cutlery. Another younger lady who was lovely came and asked if I had placed a drinks order which I had. My drink came shortly followed by the food. The food was lovely and quite cheap. Huge portion and I couldn't eat it all. The lovely lady came out to ask if I was enjoying it. When I had finished she came to take my plate and asked if I would like the left overs boxing up but I declined and told her the food was delicious. I asked the rude woman for the bill and she loudly placed the plate down on the table. I began to place coins on to the plate and she seemed annoyed I was paying with pound coins (it was all I had). The food was nice but I will not return simply because of the way the one rude woman treat me. The rest of the staff were really nice. She lets them down. Whilst I was eating this rude woman seated two other parties of people and was happy and smiley and treated them with respect. I don't know what I did to upset her.

I went with a few friends for a meal here and the food was amazing, but what really stood out to me was the service. One of my friends has really unusual dietary needs, being both celiac and vegan. The waiting staff and kitchen worked together amazingly to give her a meal that accommodated her and she enjoyed. We had a great meal and really appreciated their efforts to make her feel at ease about eating there.

Came here midweek having phoned to book a table, not knowing what to expect as this was our first meal out since restaurants reopened. Staff were very polite and friendly and our order taken promptly. We were told there may be a wait to get served but our drinks came quickly and food wasn't far behind. I chose my own pizza toppings and my husband had a spicy pizza. My pizza was delicious, very thin base with loads of olives, parma ham and anchovies. We shared a homemade tiramisu which was spot-on. It felt very safe, tables were well spaced out and tables (and chairs) were cleaned as soon as diners left. I was very impressed and I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely recommend.

Went during COVID lockdown, not many places open. When we arrived, we didn't get a very Italian restaurant feeling about the place. However, it was full and they had 1 table left which we were offered. We chose the £11 2-course menu (no meat in the pasta dishes for this selection). All the pasta was freshly made, so were the pizzas. Very tasty food and friendly service. Plentiful portions also. Would 100% go back.

We (4) arrived without a reservation, but we're lucky in getting the last available table. Ordered mixed olive bowl and antipasti for 2 for starters, followed by lasagne, asparagus risotto and spaghetti with beef ragu. Portions were generous yet not over facing. Food was fantastic. Wife says it was the best lasagne she'd ever had. Service was excellent, attentive but not too much. Meal was very good value (we're used to big city prices) but most dishes were single figures. Can accommodate dogs. Gluten free options are available (pasta and some menu items).

An amazing experience. The staff were just lovely and so friendly, they made a great experience amazing. Fabulous team. The food was fantastic - try the prawns!! I loved the cheese stuffed chicken - they let me adapt the dish too I asked for a white wine sauce with mushrooms and they obliged immediately. That sauce was stunning too. Recommend that the chef includes that in his dish in future. So good! The pizza my husband had was brilliant. My friends Salmon dish, wasn’t quite right but they changed it immediately and were very professional. We were a table of 8 and everyone had amazing food. The wines were great and such brilliant value for money too. Excellent service, clean and COVID care very obvious. Well done!!

Superb. My mother had a goats cheese and spinach pizza and says it was the best pizza she has ever had. Ordered the barley risotto and carbonara from the set menu, very good and we had calzones with extra artichokes. The complementary homemade Italian breads and biscuits were a lovely touch and much appreciated. Friendly service If this is the takeaway I can't wait to try the restaurant when they reopen.

Like "Won't Return",further down the the page.we.too fell foul of 'Grumpy's Rule. We were told off for NOT wearing our masks on entering the premises by the side entrance, by The Chef...Signor Grumpy, who himself was NOT wearing a mask, nor any other form of hygienic protective clothing, except for an apron that would have been more appropriate to a building site than a kitchen. I taught Food Safety for over 25 years. We,likewise, were 'ungreeted' by a small, rude woman, who's English was unintelligibl, who also threw the bill onto our table.. However, the food we received from the other very nice, friendly local waitress was outstanding; one of the best Pizzas I've tasted, and we have eaten Pizza in Venice,Rome, New York and many more international cities, but this was the best the pizza bread was to die for. A few tweaks from Signor Grumpy and the World could beat a path to his door. Just be sure you choose the right one!!

What can I say. Prices very reasonable. Portion size perfect. Quality absolutely outstanding. This place could be walked by without a second look. Don't walk by walk in!! You will not be disappointed. Two starters, tomato and mozzarella salad and the gamberini Al forno ie tigers prawns on a bed of mash with garlic mushrooms. Six huge tiger prawns wrapped in pancetta. Beautiful. For the mains I had the meatfeast pizza. Steak, chicken breast pepperoni. Cooked to perfection. My wife had risotto al branzino... tiger prawns, cherry tomatoes topped off with crispy seabass fillet my wife gave it 12/10 lol. My daughter had fresh pasta ravioli Tuscany. She gave 20/10 lol..... Staff are lovely and friendly can't do enough for you. Very well done to you all. We will be back.

Our family of 4 adults visited on Friday evening. Worth booking ahead as the place was fully booked with not only tourists but also locals; always a good sign! The restaurant does not have parking but there were plenty of spaces at the Palm Court multi storey on a minute walk away. Although the outside of the building is a bit underwhelming inside it’s very nice, clean and comfortable. The waiting staff were all very friendly, attentive without being intrusive and efficient. Two sharing platters were delicious and sizeable. Mains were 2 pizzas and 2 calzones. My wife misordered but the staff were more than happy to alter her dish to add some sauce. The mains were freshly made, absolutely delicious and such generous portions that we all struggled to finish them! The final bonus was the price. The best meal we had on our break was also the cheapest. All in all I highly recommend a visit.

In Scarborough for just one evening and needed somewhere that would do an early meal. Il Piatto opened at 5pm - staff very welcoming. Food (we both had pasta dishes) was delicious, and the puddings were divine. Early doors discount meant the final bill was incredibly good value. Simply faultless.

Just called in for a quick bowl of pasta before the football shown in the pub up the street. Not a lot of people in, maybe 3-4 tables at 6.30ish on a Wednesday but the one guy serving appeared rushing around a bit. But 'rushing' in a really pleasant and positive way. Home made bread and oil/balsamic deilvered quickly with the menu. As it was 'early bird' ordered caprese salad which came in good time. Not the normal caprese I know in style of the Italian tricolore, all mixed up a bit but really fresh and tasty. Followed, again in good time, pasta arrabiata with a 'help yourself' helping of parmesan. All washed down with a nice glass of white for £16.00. Absolutely excellent food and absolutely excellent service.
