Visited on a Friday night having driven a long journey to Scarborough. Walked a way from the seafront to be told cash only. So a further walk for that. Sat down looking forward to burgers, milkshakes and the magic rock beer followed by desserts all round. We got the burgers. It seems that after the Eat Out to Help Out customers had literally cleared them out earlier in the week, the full price paying customers couldn’t get a milkshake or a dessert. Burgers were very good especially the peanut butter and chilli Jam fries. The kids hot dog was ok but not for a child under 10 as it was the massive bratwurst type so choking was a worry and chips were very salted which the 5 year old loved but was thirsty in the middle of the night as a result. Lovely burgers, friendly staff but maybe visit on the cheap nights this month as you may be disappointed if you are prepared to pay full price!

So we booked to go here as reviews looked good and was pleased to hear that they were part of the government 50% discount scheme! But to be honest I would of paid full price twice over! The burgers even at full price are so reasonable and you get amazing portion sizes, the burgers are fully home made, Frieda are amazing and the staff are so friendly too. Social distancing was being adhered to really well all tables sanitised and staff wearing masks. So so so impressed. We had a flat liner burger and a bbq bacon burger and our daughter just had a plain burger but all looked and tasted amazing. A definite recommendation for any burger lovers will definitely be coming back next time we visit Scarborough. First class

Whilst the name of the restaurant might put off vegetarian or vegan customers there are burgers for all types here, and very good they are too. I'm not vegan but I've enjoyed the vegan burger a couple of times that I've been here. The sweet potato chips are brilliant also. Overall the food is great value for money. My slight issue is with the drinks pricing. I know that the business has to make a profit, but £2.50 for an ordinary size bottle of coke I thought was a bit on the high side, especially as it came just in the bottle with a (plastic) straw, not even cold. If it was presented in a glass with ice, slice of lemon, there would have been more of a feel good factor. Won't stop me coming again though!

Poor service. After waiting 35 minutes for our order where the cook appears to be able only to cook one thing at once, they got the order wrong then forgot the drinks. No "I am so sorry" forth coming. Then after getting home to find a less than average but over priced burger i found half an inch of bone, very sharp in my food. Give it a miss and stick to MacDonald's.

Stopped by the cowshed the other evening for a meal with the family. The kids (7&8) had half a burger each with fries and devoured it. My review of the burgers as someone who eats a lot of burgers was..... Really nice patties, quality bun and well constructed. you didnt feel greasy after eating it which is always a big plus. The serving staff were full of energy and added to the whole experience in a positive way also really attentive to my slightly picky daughters requests. Definitely worth popping by if you're in town.

We dined here during our holiday to Filey this year. Staff friendly and welcoming and were all wearing restaurant branded face coverings, they made an extra effort to be friendly as their smiles are covered. Hand sanitizer available on arrival, tables cleaned between guests and spaced apart. Burgers were delicious and there are a selection of sides and extras. The waiter was particularly kind to my 4 year old who ate nearly all his meal, quite an achievement for a fussy eater. My teenagers had bacon and bbq burgers, my wife opted for blue cheese with sweet potato fries and I had the flat liner a 4 burger beast. Clean plates all round! If you love burgers you will love the cowshed

Went here for dinner. Quite small restaurant but well spaced out with excellent Covid measures in place. The food was brilliant and the hosts are genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. My wife went for the vegan option and they were very attentive to her needs and preferences. Highly recommended!

Booked this place a couple of hours before going, car park just across the road which is free after 6pm. nice surroundings and clean. Pleasant staff, burger bar that is also vegan friendly as well,( if you like that sort of meat free stuff ) bottle beers no draught beer. medium priced very well presented food and plenty of it. would I go again yes I would.

Back in business! Wow! Soo glad to be back eating out , seems the cowshed have taken covid as an opportunity to up their burger game! I tried the jerk special and oh my days.. to die for! It’s not just a burger joint it’s so much more than that. Staff are friendly and welcoming you can tell they are happy to be back doing what they do best too! The new menu makes deciding on a burger so difficult as they all look banging, I’m gunna have a lot of trips to make up for lost time and try them all out! And btw the biscoff milkshake jeeeeesus! Next level highly recommend just don’t drink it all before your burger arrives should come with a disclaimer 🤣

We decided to book a table here on our first night staying in Scarborough as it is known for being busy. The place isn’t over big which we didn’t mind as it didn’t get too loud. The staff were running behind so we had to wait 20 minutes before being served. We ordered food and drinks. The drinks are quite pricey which is a shame. Food arrived and OMG it was amazing. The burgers were so juicy, you could tell these were fresh and you got so many fries with it. My only fault is you do not get a paper receipt to check prior to paying and they do add gratuity without asking if you want to pay it, you only find this out when you receive the card payment receipt. I don’t think I would go back again as it was quite overpriced.

Fair play! The burger was seasoned really well, the bun was toasted perfectly, great ratio of burger to salad, the bacon was belting and it had gherkins! What’s a burger without gherkins? Pizza fries - not what I’d normally get, but they were class. Loads of chorizo and the chips didn’t go soggy under the cheese! I normally go for some form of garlic dip, but opted for something new in the truffle mayo - absolute scenes (once I’ve done here I’ll have a search for some on amazon). If you’re still reading this review and haven’t tried the biscoff milkshake yet, just do it and thank me later.

So if you are going to Scarborough do not miss this place for food. Don’t let the usual hallmark Burger kitchen stuff put you off and make you think this place isn’t top notch! The food is sublime, so much so I tweeted Gordon Ramsay during my meal to tell him to come and sample the mouthwatering blue cheese burger! The staff were attentive and the manager couldn’t do enough for the guests and the staff too. It felt like a one man band start up because of the amount of effort everyone was putting in to make the experience amazing. That’s to your team and super kitchen staff. Brilliant 😃

Once again we had a lovely birthday celebration at Cowshed, the food is consistently well presented, healthy portions and delicious. Disappointed no red or white wine available so suggest the management look at improving stock control. However the two front of house staff dealt with this issue very professionally, well done and particularly Richard, a great ambassador for the restaurant.

Tried this out for the first time on Tuesday when visiting Scarborough. Despite this being the early days of re-opening after lockdown, this place was on top of its game. Booking a table was easy, the staff serving were very pleasant and genuine (maybe they own the business?). Menu is mostly burgers with a few chicken dishes, but these are all beautifully cooked and can be served as a salad if you wish. Our order was a bit awkward as the kids wanted to remove half of the items from their burgers(!), but this was skilfully handled without error and without fuss by the team. Comedy food names such as McLovin' It and Nand-who's? were not just for cheap laughs, these particular dishes trounced the chain competition. This is not fast food - this is a specialist restaurant. The whole restaurant has a relaxed, easy vibe, which is rare to find combined with high quality food and service. There was a small but adequate selection of beers and basic house wines to complement the food. Special mention goes out to the shredded onions which were heavenly. I wish there was a restaurant like this in my neck of the woods.

Such a shame that this place gets slightly worse each time, last year after a long wait for food apart from sending cold chips back it was all ok. This year young girl rushing around serving on her own, waited an hour for average food. We got own napkins and cutlery as she was very busy. When she bought the salt over it was dirty, chairs dirty and tables were sticky. Bathroom seemed clean though. Shouldn't take an hour for 2 burgers and chips. Young girl very good, but the kitchen staff take forever.
