Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Winter has officially arrived at our favourite restaurant and what a selection of dishes they have created for the new season. We love how the food always evolves here and the menus just get better and better each time. Yet again they have created another...strong dining experience that they have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into. Definitely check this place out, you will not be disappointed with any of the food, drinks, service or atmosphere- it really is the best spot in our local area Some of the new menu highlights include Salt and Pepper Tempura Soft Shell Crab, Lemon Caper Mayo- the batter was fantastic, not too thick and coated in a salt and pepper seasoning that just smelt and tasted delicious and was really moreish. Inside was really soft excellent quality crab meat that was subtle in flavour and not overwhelmingly fishy. The dip was the perfect compliment to add some zest. Pan Fried King Scallops, Cauliflower Puree, Pea Puree, Bacon Crumb, Squid Ink- These were cooked perfectly- look at that sear on the top of each one. They were complimented by a light smooth cauli puree, rich pea puree and a squid ink that adds an earthy and salty flavour, as well as a meaty crunch from the bacon. We always love the different variations of this dish Slow Cooked Belly of Pork, Colcannon Mash, Beer Gravy, Peas, Onion Scraps- Wow what a rich hearty comforting dish and our new favourite main course here. Colcannon mash was made with Irish red potato with cabbage running through- this was a really powerful flavour and the mash is always buttery and creamy smooth here. The main event was a nicely seasoned pork belly that almost tasted like a southern fried coating with the softest pork inside that just pulled away with ease. There was not a huge amount of fat running through, just enough to soften the meat even more. The beer shines through in the gravy in both taste and aroma. The crunchy battered onion add another massive hit of flavour and finish the dish off perfectly. Absolutely delicious, a winning dish Hob Nob, Vanilla, Milk Chocolate Cheesecake, Caramel Cream, Toffee Popcorn- If you love a really rich creamy decedent cheesecake then this one is for you! Three layers featuring chocolate, hob nob and vanilla and caramel flavours that all shone through especially the butteriness of the biscuit. Huge portion that is perfect for sharing. We always love the cheesecakes here and this one is one of the best flavour combos so farMore

My partner and I have dined here a couple of times over the last few months, first was a Saturday evening and the second was a Sunday lunch. We had been looking forward to trying The Scullery for some time, having heard rave reviews over...the summer months from friends and I have to say it does not disappoint. The food on both occasions was exceptional, nicely cooked and well presented. The staff are always very friendly and attentive and I think for the quality of the meal, the price is more than reasonable. We look forward to dining here again soon.More

Visited again for Sunday lunch. As we have come to expect from this restaurant, the welcome, service and food were second to none. Four very happy diners, with the boys taking dessert home for later! Thank you! 😋

Woke up today and really didn’t feel like cooking, I asked on my insta for local Sunday lunch recommendations & this place came up a few times. We arrived at 2:30pm having tried to call ahead but being unable to get through. Waited in the...bar area and was then greeted by the owner (I think). Asked if they had a table for 2 but acknowledged I was pushing my luck at this time on a busy sunday! The owner looked on the system & after a bit of jigging said he could do a table for 2 if he could have it back by 4pm - no probs we said thinking would be in and out. Seated in the restaurant in the corner we were handed the Sunday menu, 3 courses for £30 was a bargain we felt. Ordered the chicken goujons & tempura crab after asking the owner for his recommendation. Both arrived after about 15 mins, piping hot & delicious. We then both ordered the beef Sunday dinner, partner swapped out mash for extra roasties which was no bother at all & appreciated. Again brilliant - yorkie maybe slightly overdone for me but that’s personal preference not a criticism. Wasn’t initially planning on a dessert but was really enjoying the atmosphere, service & wine 😂. So I got the hobnob cheesecake which was brilliant and the apple and blackberry crumble which was really sweet too & well received. The bill was around £90 for 2 x 3 courses, 2 x large wines, 2 x kopparberg and some great & attentive service. We’ll be back 😊. Thank you!More

Phenomenal food and service, lovely atmosphere. Cannot fault it and will be returning. Only downside which isn’t a negative just something to beware of is there is no baby changing facilities or high chairs if you are taking a little one.

I’m so glad we discovered such a lovely restaurant. The outside area, bar and restaurant made me feel as if we were on holiday. Such lovely decor and ambiance. We enjoyed our starters and main course. I had steak, which was cooked to perfection and...of excellent quality. I managed to make room for a dessert, which was chocolate fondant and pecan ice cream and I wasn’t disappointed. The wine was very good quality too. I would highly recommend this restaurant.More

A true hidden gem. Not only was the food delicious the service was fabulous. A lovely setting as you enter through the courtyard style outdoor dining area then a beautifully decorated restaurant with great attention to detail. It was so nice to go out for...a meal and be 'properly looked after' (something I feel is lacking in a lot of restaurants these days) A relaxed, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service. It was lovely to here the staff making food recommendations and wine pairing recommendations. Some may find it old fashioned but I call it a 'proper dining experience'. The decor is lovely and the vibe throughout the restaurant was great. Casual and relaxed. For the coeliacs out there, a LOT of the menu is gf/gfo .. even a gf ipa on draft 👌 I definitely recommend to anyone who likes good food and been well looked after.More
