I thought I needed to write a review for this restaurant as I just had a takeout service and it was delicious. The food came well presented, hot and good portion sizes and I couldn’t fault it. I have eaten in the restaurant a few times before and have always been pleased with the food and service and they usually have a man playing live guitar on a Saturday night, which is a lovely touch. I wondered if the takeout would be as good, but it definitely was. Personally I can’t remember having better tapas than this. I’ll definitely be back again.

I’m always reluctant to have tapas in the UK because it nearly always disappoints, thankfully Meson La Pepa is an exception. The menu is varied and extensive and the food quite authentic, a pleasant change to some tapas restaurants here. It’s a small cosy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. It was very busy on the last day of ‘eat out to help out ‘, but the service was absolutely excellent and we didn’t wait long for our food, which was very tasty and well cooked. I will definitely be returning and my sincere thanks to the staff for making it a very enjoyable evening.

We've been going to Meson La Pepa for years and it's been amazing every time! It's only a small place but this makes for a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and will always stop for a chat to see how you are doing and how the food is etc. We've not eaten in for a while due to lockdown but this weekend we had our 4th lockdown takeway and the food has been equally as amazing! The tapas is world class, the chicken skewers and meatballs are delicious to name a few. We can't wait for the restaurant to open again so we can dine in and show our support and appreciation for this excellent little restaurant. If you haven't tried Meson La Pepa, ditch your local takeaway and give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

We had a couple of takeaways during lockdown which were great but were pleased we could visit once again and luckily the seafood specials were on. The soft shell crab and oysters were indeed special in a good way and for once we saved room to share puds. The churros and ice cream finished the meal off nicely for us and the kids. Will be returning.

We came here for my fiancee's birthday in early March and as always, the food was great, portions were ample and the atmosphere was lovely. We had a large party, were well accommodated and we all received our food at the same time. Our drinks were kept topped up and everyone really enjoyed it. My fiancee and I are vegetarian and we were well catered for . Our carnivore friends were likewise impressed with the menu choices and the food itself :) We've visited on numerous occasions now and have never been disappointed.

We recently visited here for lunch, having previously enjoyed a superb meal at their previous location just around the corner, however this time we were unfortunately very disappointed. The calamari used to be incredible but this time we got what appeared to be going out of date and overcooked. Everything else was bland with exception to the prawns which were the best part of the meal. The portion sizes were laughable. Literally 5 chips for £3. The service was great, the lady who served us was excellent, but sadly we will not be returning to this restaurant which has definitely taken a turn for the worse and appears to be visibly cutting costs, presumably to reduce overheads in light of their much larger new venue. Go elsewhere if you want great tapas.

A mixed review the staff would have scored 5/5, despite a member of staff having to apologise for taking food before we had finished she was new and learning and was a lovely person. The food 3/5, loved the paella, the rest was average, ordered halloumi, although tapas and expected small dishes I did expect more than 3 thin strips for the money. House red 1/5 absolutely disgusting tasted bitter and sour so we left over half of that! Told the member of staff and he said it was fine if we want quality we could buy a £300 bottle! ..for nearly £20 I expected it to be drinkable. Despite his nonchalant attitude he was a nice guy. Not sure I would rush back and pay £90+ for 3 again theres lots of restaurants to choose from in Huddersfield. Decor fantastic and place lovely and clean.

Myself and a friend visited a few weeks back and had 3 dishes each, including the bread. This was our first visit and we definately won't be rushing back. Presentation of the food was poor, portion size was poor, food was mediocre, and absolutely nothing special.... certainly not worth the price charged. The waiter came and lifted my drink bottle a few times and shook it whilst we were eating - I had some left, this was really off-putting. If I wanted another drink I would have asked for one. I honestly was expecting more, very very disappointed.

I love this little bit of Spain in Huddersfield, however today the grill must have been turned onto over kill The scallops were cremated to their shells, the croquettes burnt, the chicken wings left black burnt bits everywhere on my partners face. It was really unexpected and the waitress very kindly moved them from our bill. I was as always so very much looking forward to the meal and it’s the first time here it has disappointed The prawns, soft shell crab, tuna, chorizo and potatoes were all fab together with the sangria Please do not let this fab little restaurant get complacent, you must continue as always with your high standards The chef should never have let the over cooked/burnt dishes leave the kitchen

Finally got around to trying this place after wanting to for ages, with it expanding we thought now would be a good time. We arrived and were seated and had 2 waitressess come for our drinks order, 30 minutes later and we were asked if we are wanting to order food, we said yes and the young girl said she would get someone to come and take the order as she wasn't allowed, 10 minutes later we asked someone else who said she couldn't take food orders either and would get the one who could, 40 minutes after arriving we finally had our food order taken, nothing against the staff as they were very apologetic but told us that there was only 1 member of staff on duty who was able to take food orders, this was 8pm on a Saturday evening, there were 5 or 6 staff on duty and the 1 who could take food orders was also, clearing tables, serving food, taking payments, making drinks etc while other staff members seemed to be walking around looking for something to do, another couple sat next to us got up and walked out after they had still not had their order taken after nearly an hour. Surely the staff member doing food orders could have just done food orders?. The food itself was very nice as was the Sangria, we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu but again after 15 minutes this had still not arrived so we decided to leave then. We are willing to put this experience down to a one-off on the night and try it again sometime but if this is the norm, ie huge waiting times just to have our food order taken then we won't bother, management could do with looking at their staffing issues if it is. A really strange arrangement

We came across Meson La Pepa on the off chance a few years ago as we fancied tapas and after a google search of the area found that the other restaurant offering tapas was fully booked. Lucky for us! This small tucked away restaurant is a hidden gem! I have lost count of the amount of times we have been and we have never had a bad meal. It is fantastic and the owner is lovely and always welcoming. Highly recommend!

Such a shame. With better organisation this could have been a 5 star review. Unfortunately due to the service it was 2. Arrived and seated without issue. We had someone arrive soon after for our drinks.order Then 30 seconds later someone else arrived to take a drinks order. Drinks arrived then we became invisible. Had to ask twice for our food order to be taken. White wine arrived but no wine cooler presented to put it in. We asked for a jug of water. Apparently you only get a jug with sangria otherwise it is in glasses. Consequently the staff were running round with water glasses rather than tables having jugs of water on them . Made all the more bizarre by the fact that none of the tables had jugs of sangria on them either. Thirty minutes later and no food had arrived. We asked a waitress what was happening, she said would check, then never came back. Asked another waitress who did come back and inform.us there was a problem in the kitchen. Apparently we should have been more specific when ordering that we would like the cold platter before the hot mains as they were doing it all together... To cut a very long story short we eventually got our starters, only took over an hour from us arriving for them to be served. Itwas like a conveyor belt that within 5 minutes all our dishes came out. No rest between starter and main. When we informed the staff member of the awful service we had received she was very apologetic about it. It would have been nice if her manager had been the one explaining the issues rather than her. I am sure she does not get paid enough to take the criticism because of a disorganised business. It appears too many people were seated for what the kitchen could handle. If you cannot keep a good standard of service then say, I am sorry we cannot accept you at the moment. They did apologise and were very good about it all but it was avoidable. We won't be rushing back.

Visited March 14th, Saturday night. Restaurant full and glad we booked. Seated straight away and drinks orders taken. Plenty time given to choose and specials explained. Went for bread and dips to start and shared 6 Tapas between us. Food was hot and the Cod, Meatballs and Spaghetti with chicken was out of this world. Wine list good with plenty choice. This was our second visit and sure to go again. Thanks for a great night.

Visited here after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. Hopefully it was just a bad day for them. In our group we ordered 12 different tapas dishes. At best they were just OK. One of mine was chorizo in red wine that I have had at numerous restaurants before. The sauce had the consistency of water and was pretty much tasteless, another dish that was also supposedly in red wine was the same. Morrisons of all places currently sell chorizo in red wine for £2.50 and it is much better. I won't be going back. On a positive note the staff were very nice.

We love the annual Seafood Festival at one of our favourite tapas restaurants! This runs every August and showcases a wide variety of delicious Seafood options. The prices were reasonable given how expensive seafood is and some of the options on offer are luxury like Oyster, Lobster and Monkfish. We chose 7 dishes from this menu and it filled us nicely but still left enough room for one of their amazing desserts. The restaurant has recently expanded and now has both a modern fresh open space as well as their cosy traditional Spanish section. We tried the new area for the first time and as lovely and fresh as it is, we prefer the original authentic area. However the fact that they are so busy that they needed a bigger space is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for a lovely meal as always
