I didn't think my favourite Huddersfield pub could get any better, but....They now do pies! They're very good too, great value, you can get them with peas, chips, and gravy if you're hungry, and there's even a vegan pie - it's darn good too! :)...More

I’m not familiar with Huddersfield but with some friends who were. The Sportsman was suggested as a pub to visit. A good choice. A traditional pub - with alcoves and good seating. Not large but wasn’t cramped when we visited. A decent selection of cask...More

Passing by and decided to pop in. Good service and great beer. It's a good old fashioned pub. Would definitely come back again.

Best ale pub in Huddersfield town centre. Amazing selection which changes at least weekly. Friendly, unobtrusive, knowledgeable bar staff and half decent grub. 5 mins walk from train station. Regular 'meet the brewer' nights. Challenging quiz. All round good place. Dog friendly...assuming you can control your dog.

Pub.The Sportsman takes the classic British Boozer and brings it bang up to date. With its beautiful Art Deco interior we've restored the original feature to their former glory. We won English Heritage Pub Design Awards in 2010. A great pub needs great beer and The Sportsman clearly delivers on this count. Recent years have seen the biggest change in British brewing in a lifetime with the rise of Craft Beer. The Sportsman is at the forefront of the Craft Beer scene and we always work hard to offer our customers the most interesting and exciting beers available. As well as many great craft beers on hand-pump we have four craft keg lines including one dedicated to Magic Rock beers. Our fridges are always packed full of great craft beers from the UK with a few US and continental beers thrown in for good measure.
