At Botafogo you control the service. Turn your “green/red card ” to green and our chefs will bring you our delicious cuts of meat. As long as your card is green the chefs will keep serving. Whenever you wish to have a break just turn the card to red; and to resume service back to green.To accompany your meat help yourself from our delicious salad bar. There you can find rice, Feijoada (yummy Brazilian black beans stew and Vegetarian bean stew), salads and many more. Order your chips from one of our waiters. Make sure you come hungry

Took my wife and son who both found it more enjoyable than me. The staff were absolutely brilliant. The restaurant offers all you can eat for £21.50 a head, and it starts with a waiter coming round with a large skewer of beef from which he carves slices according to how thick you want the slices. The beef is in three parts and unfortunately I had a piece from every part and as a result could not enjoy the other meats which followed. You can have as much salad as you can eat normally chosen from a buffet, but because of Covid this had to be given to you as a mixed salad. There are a number of different dressings to choose from. The beef was followed by ham (the best in my view) and chicken and pork. The quality was good, but to face so much meat is something you either like or otherwise.

We have visited here many times over the years but this was the first since lockdown so we expected some changes due to following covid compliance. We had ordered take outs to support this business during lockdown but it didn't compete to being able to come into the restaurant. However we were very surprised as it was our favourite visit to date. The staff as per usually were attentive, friendly and professional. The food was exceptional! And cooked to perfection. Obviously the main change is no salad bar, but as we had been many times before we new what we would have had anyway. But if you haven't been theres a list on the table, its has a great deal of choice and you choose various dishes you would like, which the servers replace for you if you need more. Overall it was a perfect night for us so thank you to everyone at Botafogo. Will definitely visit again next time we in town.

Booked last minute for a date night with my partner and this place certainly didn’t disappointment. Authentic Brazilian feel and friendly faced and attentive staff. Cocktail menu was simply awesome and the food I couldn’t get enough of. Great cuts of meat with a great variety - tasting delicious and cooked to perfection. We’re not long waits / intervals to be served and I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled pineapple I have never tried before - one of the chefs so kindly bought more out upon my request. Total value for money and will be making sure I visit again. If your a meat lover you will love this place, great service great food and not one bit did we feel rushed to get out. Will definitely be here again and recommending to all family and friends

Great food but extremely slow service

Went for a Birthday meal on Saturday night. Extremely busy but been before so knew it would be, and seated pretty quickly. However once seated we waited 20mins before a waitress even came near our table. After eventually getting drinks we waited another 10mins for the meats to be brought to our table. Waiters were going round the restaurant but mostly not even looking our table in the corner. It wasn’t until the man who we presumed was the Manager came over and we explained the problem that we started to be brought more meats and could start enjoying our meal. The food is great, hence this was our fourth visit over the last couple of years, but the service on this occasion really put us off.

Shocked at how downhill this place has got.

We used to come here at least once a month, food was always great and we couldn’t fault the service. We booked a table for a group of friends in July 2021. The server said he would be sure to “Take care” of us. Our sides (chips, stew, rice and salad) did not come out until an hour after we had ordered it. Tables beside us who came in after us received their similar sides before us. We got hold of the waitress who seemed uninterested and on a few occasions even ignored us when we had made eye contact and asked for the sides again. The problem was, we were sat there for over an hour without any food except the 2 dough balls you get to begin with. You can’t start on the meats until your sides have arrived. There were 2 waiters and 2 meat carvers on that night. We had asked to reorder the first lot of sides that never came to a meat carer that came past, his reply was “I can’t remember that I’ll get the waitress over”. We had asked for chips, which should not be difficult to remember. When you work in a restaurant every member of staff works as part of a team, this response of his was very poor. He is just not happy to be working there which makes the ambience very miserable as he comes round. The salad bar is a new feature which does not work. Previously you would get rice, chips and stew as your sides which worked as there was not variation to be had. This would therefore help with the service again as that is what used to make the place. This is alongside the fact that 10% gets added automatically to the bill - which they did not deserve that night! The meat as always was great but the same carver who can’t take orders and has a permanently miserable face on, cannot carve the meat - you get very thin scraggly bits of meat which you pay a lot for. That night you could tell that the waiters were avoiding our table because they had messed up. They should’ve apologised and tried to make amendments that night instead of coming over and saying, “I am trying to look after you guys” after not coming over to the table at all since we first arrived!

waiting for drinks that never came. So unorganised waitresses looked like they didn't enjoy the job so medico having to ask more than once for a order. Meat came out slow so you didn't get much of it. Busy looking after people coming in instead of looking after the ones that are there and still waiting for the order they asked for 20mins ago. Each waiter or waitress should have selected tables to manage instead of running round like headless chickens. Twice we were bought orders that we didn't ask for they didn't know what table ordered what. would not recommend to anyone the guy with the braids was well mannered and attentive to our needs also the main server with the bald head sorry didn't get his name. Very disappointed waste of money.

As a long-time customer of Botafogo, I have had the pleasure of visiting this establishment numerous times over the last few years. In the past, it was my go-to place for an authentic Brazilian churrascaria experience, and I had many memorable dining moments. However, my recent visits, spanning the last three to four times, have left me thoroughly disappointed. It pains me to admit that Botafogo has experienced a regrettable decline in quality. What was once a reliable and outstanding dining destination has become frustrating. On my most recent visits, the service could have been much faster, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. This starkly contrasted to the efficient and attentive service I had grown accustomed to. Additionally, on my latest visits, I encountered difficulties with communication, particularly when ordering drinks. The language barrier made it challenging to convey my preferences accurately, leading to mistakes in my order and further adding to my dissatisfaction. Moreover, the hallmark of any great churrascaria lies in the quality of its meats. While I fondly remember the delectable cuts I indulged in, the recent meats have all been rushed and overcooked. As someone who prefers their meat medium-rare, it was disheartening to find that every piece I tried was overdone, robbing it of its natural flavours and tenderness. The declining trend in my experiences at Botafogo is profoundly disheartening. Based on my previous positive encounters, I had always spoken highly of this restaurant, recommending it to friends and family. However, the recent letdowns have made it increasingly difficult to uphold that praise. Despite my history with Botafogo, I must recognise the consistent disappointments I have faced during my last few visits. I sincerely hope that the management takes notice of these shortcomings and works towards restoring the former glory of this once beloved churrascaria. In conclusion, while I have been a loyal patron of Botafogo for years, my most recent experiences have been dishearteningly disappointing. The decline in service efficiency, communication barriers, and subpar meat preparation have tarnished what was once a standout dining destination. Until significant improvements are made, I find it hard to recommend Botafogo to others.

Poor service

Service was incredibly poor. We ended up having to stay for an hour and a half just to receive enough service to have a full meal. Only we’re served 3 times within the first half an hour. Seemed very understaffed and we’re left awkwardly waiting for the majority of the time. The service here used to be fantastic and never disappointed however this seems to have changed since reopening after lockdown. Don’t recommend for the time being unless you want to awkwardly wait with empty plates for the majority of your meal.

Had high expectations from our visit today. I had been to a similar elsewhere and enjoyed immensely, but was sadly let down. Service of meats extremely slow, often 10 -15 minutes wait between meagre meat portions being carved to plate,sliver of beef or a peice of chicken. Bill with one round of drinks, including wine and a portion of chips just short of £155 for 4. Service charge charged to bill, which I find wrong, no way where we serviced to £15 as per bill. It's just not worth the cost. Will not return.

Good food, unusual but recommended find in Huddersfield

We went at a really quiet time (midweek) just as it opened so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Staff were really attentive and the meat was cooked well, came out sizzling and nicely seasoned. The salad bar was a bit small so can imagine it being packed on a busy evening, but the selection was good. The price was fair considering it's more of a buffet experience so you can fill up on meat with salad in between.

Celino is a CUT above the rest.

Celino was a master carver. Never been before and wondered if it was all you can eat. It was unbelievable I had to say no loads as I simply could not keep up with the amazing food. The finest meat well cooked superbly delivered and lush salads it really is worth every penny. All staff including barmaid were intensive and could not do enough. I'm going to be back everytime. Seriously try it. I have to go I have a cow to eat. Five stars. Finally serious shout to Celino who treats you as a five star diner. He is a professional.

Visited here last week as a part of the EOTHO Scheme. Food as usual was lovely. Salad bar has now gone and replaced with a side order menu which you order from and it is brought to your table. Staff were all very friendly and the meats were excellent. With the tenner off per person this was an absolute bargain!

Flavourful dishes, amazing drinks, friendly staffs and caring chelfs

I have always been a fan of grilled meat and when I figured out this restaurant, it is one of my favourite places in Huddersfield. The menu includes a variety of meat to choose from such as Picanha, Beef Shoulder, Sirloin, Garlic Beef, Chili Beef, Chicken Thighs, Honey Glazed Pork, Gammon, Grilled, Grilled Pineapple, Pork Sausages and Lamb. I love all the dishes here, but Chilli & Garlic Beef, Chicken Thighs, Honey Glazed Pork, and Grilled Pineapple are in my Top 5. These meats are amazing as they are marinated with spices, grilled in standardised heat, and served professionally at the table. Besides the meat, they also offer Non-Meat Options that will be cooked specially within requests. Not only delicious main course, but there are also varied drinks and yummy desserts to choose from. One thing I love about this restaurant is that the chef and the staff are super friendly, professional, and warm-welcome to all customers! Just love it!

Worst brazilian I have ever been!

This is by far the worst brazilian restaurant I have ever been. As a brazilian person myself I felt embarrassed that there are people serving this kind of food and passing by as brazilian! went last night my husband child and I, upon arriving, was greeted by this lovely girl who explained everything to us as we had never been to Botafogo before. When we saw the buffet, it was horrible. There was no rice, very small portion of feijoada in a pan which was cold. When I asked for rice and beans to be replenished, the girl apologised and said there was no more. The meat, was so well done, it was chewy, it was absolutely awful. My son when we take him to any brazilian restaurant, all he eats its the rice and the feijoada. As it had none, he had to eat the horrible meat however he was left hungry. When the bill arrived, there was no discount due to the lack of food and the service charge was there. My husband asked to remove and the lady was quite rude to say well we suggest it. My husband said well i am not paying it. She then removed it and wasnt very happy about it. Anyway, its a such a shame. If you are not used to brazilian food or restaurant, you would be quite happy to eat this. My advice would be, go to a Estabulo, or Bem Brazil, or even Fazenda, then you will never go back to Botafogo ever again.

Was okay but nothing exciting I expected it to be fantastic with the reviews We waited 20 mins before asking to be served as we had never been before , then you have to get your own food after all that , so we got salad then the meat you get at the your table is extremely small portions , can’t request what meat you want it’s what ever they bring out The food is nice but for the portions And paying £28 ahead I found that extremely expensive

Dear Amy M, It seems like you didn't quite understand the concept of our restaurant. The idea here is for the chef to serve all the meats we have on our menu at the table. And yes, we cut thin slices so that the customer are able to enjoy our entire offer. However, if the customer does not want any of the meats we serve, just say no, even if your card is green. In the same way, if you only want beef all night, for example, we will only serve you beef. If you also want thicker slices, we will also serve thicker slices. It's all about communication, after here you can eat as much as you want. And that's how all restaurants of this style work. The customer serves himself at the buffet and the chefs bring the meats to the table. Kind regards, Botafogo Team
