Nostalgic visit to Folkestone! Indoor and outdoor seating. Good choice of menu for lunch. Our chicken pie/ gammon both tasty, good portions, service good.

Myself and my wife were foolish enough to book a table for two here. firstly table collapsed 5 minutes in with lite candle condiments and vase erupting every where!! Literally asked to stand up while I cleaned the area and a less broken table was...ushered in. 45 minutes after this debacle waitress rushed Over and apologised that we had not had our order taken even though she had stood 2 ft away discussing her current living arrangements and totally ignored us! Sitting there no food and two empty glasses. We finally ordered and to say the waitress was frosty was an understatement. Awkward and unpleasant. Food was average prices above average. No apology for the fact the table collapsed showering me with hot candle wax from anyone!! Location stunning service and customer focus awful!! I would avoid the restaurant not sure if the bar has more attentive staff. Totally disappointed .More

Went to this pub for a quick lunch, ordered all okay, bar staff seemed nice, waited outside for 40 mins for sandwich and a burger (both with chips), very disappointed with the portion size of the burger and chips, as I lifted the bun there...was pretty much a little bit of braised beef and that was it, counted 11 chips, this was not 15 pounds worth, was nice but no where near enough for that amount of money.More

Battered Seafood straight from freezer. Locally sourced from Asda. We have been here before and enjoyed the experience. However either chef or manager changed since November 2021. Have to pay at bar beforehand so no real recourse. Meal left uneaten. Really poor for harbour restaurant.

We went on 26th April 2022 as it is walkable for us. We walked in and upto very near the bar, the 2 young male servers were serving 2 blokes who were together with one guy already drinking to the right. Not once when we...were waiting did they make eye contact and ask if they could help, so we walked towards the restaurant with 1 female server sitting with her back to me and 2 more servers facing towards us chatting to her. Finally, as we approached the restaurant one of them spoke to us, we were taken to a table which was tiny on the side of the bar, I said I would rather sit at a table for 4 opposite the table for 2. I was told that she hadn't cleaned it yet, I insisted and she repeated this twice, I understood the first time but that is where I wanted to sit rather than a tiny table with uncomfortable seats. It was pretty obvious she wanted us to sit where she wanted us but it wasn't busy. As she turned her back on us she made a face at another female server as I could see the side of her face and the other server started laughing and walked off. That started her wanting to teach us a lesson, so it was sometime before she took our order, our drinks sat on the side serving bar and were there for so long I went and got them in the end. Our food was served and the plates were cold, the gravy was nearly cold, the cabbage was waterlogged, the mash was hot in some places and cold in others, however, the pie was excellent. I had to get up and get us knives and forks, how difficult is it to look at a table and see what needs adding. The delays were explained because part of her job was to get the outdoor furniture in - really, so that takes precedence over customers. I wouldn't mind but there were 6 ladies at the end just drinking and then we were the only other two in the restaurant with 3 female servers. There was another table that stayed covered in dishes for virtually the whole time we were there. It always amazes me how the barman knows how much soda I want in my Vodka & soda, they never ask and always get it wrong. Entitled servers sadly.More

We came to this place last summer and it was good, but were very disappointed in our visit today. First of all, the drinks. One pint of London Pride and a medium sized glass of white wine, wait for it, £12. !!! This is not...London but Folkestone! Next black mark. We ate in the bar but they wouldn't let us run a tab. Now the food. We wanted to order a starter to share but were told that as we were eating in the bar it would come up with the main! So that went by the board. For mains we both ordered the mussels. They were delivered with lots of pomp in cast iron woks with a warning not to touch the wok. Well I ate one of the mussels (which weren't much more than a starter portion) and it was barely warm and when I touched the wok it was stone cold! We sent these back but they came back hot but the mussels were over cooked by then. A thoroughly disappointing meal which won't be repeated. As someone else commented they need to go over the channel and see how it's done there.More

We popped in for a drink & the food looked so good that we decided to stay for lunch & we're so glad we did! Fantastic fish & chips, two amazing sharing platters, & fishcake between four of us. Really good value for money, the...quality of the fish & seafood were second to none. We'll definitely go back & I can't recommend it highly enough.More

We liked the look of the menu and I saw the draft beer selection was excellent. But, the food and service was disappointing and of varying quality. My daughters squid was very good but the squid on our Frito Mezzo was so greasy and overcooked...it was inedible. The whole lobster I ordered was undercooked and bland. The mussels in white wine and garlic were also very bland (the sauce just tasted of cream). Overall the seafood was treated with little respect. We had to remind our waitress of another dish we hadn't received yet which seemed to put her in a bad mood for the rest of the meal. It was a shame because the burgers and other things were very good.More

The food was lovely it was such a shame that the staff weren’t as lovely! Poor communication throughout the meal, leaving no time for puddings! The staff had no knowledge of what wasn’t available or the spirits stocked. Without any warning the kitchen stopped serving...so we couldn’t order our puddings. A lot of chatting amongst the staff but not much attention to detail. Such a shame as enjoyed the foodMore

I cannot put 1 star as food was eatable but came on guys. I’m coming to the sea food restaurant on the sea bank, in the port town. I’m happy to pay money for a good food but bloody being served with the food I...can buy in ASDA or Morrison for £2. I can accept this in the pub somewhere in the country but not in the “seafood restaurant”. This is an absolute disgrace. I cannot also understand hypocritical comments which brings the rating of this place above 4 stars. This average service for ridiculous money is not OK. You’d better go across the Chanel and check how you get treated in any eatery of any village.More
