Nachos and a peroni.yummy. Really nice bistro with nice friendly staff. Well worth popping into. The evening menu looks really nice and we will be back to try it out.

We stopped here for lunch after a beautiful walk at NTS the Hermitage (a stunning walk through pine woodland to a waterfall, and I highly recommend this too). This one took our fancy and had a table spare, so we stopped and I'm so glad we did. My friend had a roasted veg and hummus sandwich and I had a... More

Went to Howies for a nice romantic meal. Was very disappointed. Service was reasonable but food was unexciting. The chips were not hand cut and the mushroom and haloumi burger was just that! I had to ask for chutney and the ciabbata bun was stale. Altogether a pretty poor experience.

Really puzzled with these comments especially after you haven't replied to our e mail. Your veg burger as per the menu description does not come with chutney but we were pleased to supply it without fuss or cost. The bun was not stale they are slightly toasted for obvious reason. I would prefer to have homemade fries but with our... More

Visited Howies on 2 ocassions in November 2014. First visit was just passing through after a walk nearby at The Hermitage. Had a LOVELY fruit scone (warmed) with jam and clotted cream along with a very good latte. The scone was absolutely massive and delicious to taste. The second visit was for lunch. Had home-made tomato soup with oatcakes. This... More

This is a warm and friendly restaurant. The service was very good and the food delicious. Two of us had home made pate and scallops for starters. Pate was very good and the scallops (with black pudding and roast apple) were perfect. Again, Portobello mushroom and haloumi burger and garlic & thyme chicken breast mains were mouth-wateringly good. Desserts very... More

Stopped by for some "coffee and cake" on a dull day. The bistro was very cosy with a relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Coffee was excellent and the homemade doughnuts and scone were very very good. Highly recommended!

We went here for a family lunch whilst visiting Dunkeld on holiday. Howies had been recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. The menu was varied and something for all whether you wanted a small lunch or something larger. The staff were really friendly and offered colouring pens and paper for our three year old son. Would recommend a visit... More

My husband whisked me off to Dunkeld as a birthday surprise and booked a table here for dinner. The booking was made online and handled by Graham, which gave a personal touch to the experience. The staff were very welcoming and there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. We had no problem choosing what we wanted to eat from... More

Ate here recently with a group of my friends for my birthday as we were staying in Dunkeld. Have eaten here before in the past. Restaurant is fairly small but nicely decorated and has a nice atmosphere. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful. All the meals were lovely and everyone struggled to finish their main courses. Only small complaint was... More
