Popped in after a lovely couple of hours at nearly Chepstow Castle. We'd certainly worked up an appetite. So glad we came in here, Kate on the bar was lovely, attentive and nothing was too much bother. The wood fire was wonderful. I had a Brie starter which was plentiful for a starter, myself and my wife then had the Trio of Sausages and mash both such value for money, large meals and quality sausages. Thank you so much for your kind Hospitality.

We arrived on Thursday, Oct 17, 2024 rather late - around 8 pm'ish and were greeted warmly by bar staff, who showed us to our room, made sure our breakfast order was placed, and answered any questions we had. They don't serve dinner, so we stepped out and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Back at the Pub, we enjoyed a pint of local brew and chatted with a local and the bar staff, who were very eager to share all they knew of Chepstow. The room was well appointed, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and bathroom with excellent water pressure for a great shower. The real gem here are the people. The bar staff were warm and friendly, and David, the owner, is a wealth of historical information and energy. He sent us on a walking trip to the ruins of Piercefield House, which did not disappoint. There are even the remnants of some standing stones there on the grounds! Breakfast was a full British breakfast with sausages, eggs (to order), toast, beans, mushrooms and bacon/ham. Coffee was piping hot and very good. The serve lunch as well, but we were out and about and didn't eat lunch hardly ever, but I'm sure it was just as tasty. I cannot recommend this Inn enough, and I truly hope to be able to return to stay here again in the future. Thank you David and staff for a most enjoyable stay!

Dropped in on Sunday at 2.45pm to see if there was any chance of getting a Sunday roast seeing as we hadn’t booked. We were made very welcome and offered a table for 2. There was a fairly large birthday party in which helped reassure me it would be good and it was. There was a special Sunday roast menu with several starters, 4 roasts (pork, chicken, beef and vegetarian option) cauliflower cheese as an extra and several desserts, all reasonably priced. I don’t think they offered any other menu on a Sunday. I opted for the roast beef and my husband for the chicken with a cauliflower cheese to share. We were well impressed when the food came out roast potatoes, parsnip, carrot, red cabbage, green beans, mashed swede, Yorkshire pudding and plenty of tender beef on mine and a breast of chicken for my husband with stuffing. The side order of cauliflower cheese was huge and would easily serve 3/4 people. All of it was hot and very tasty with plenty of gravy. We didn’t have room for a dessert. The pub isn’t very big but very cosy with the roaring log fires and friendly staff, can definitely recommend and we’ll be back.

We were a party of 12 and there for our second early lunch pre Christmas. The greeting (sorry to be cynical) was exactly the same as the previous year.He who gave it also undertakes the "cooking". My pie from Devon apparently, was nice, the steak being tender, and the gravy "lubricating" the pie itself was yummy. My cheesy mash would have been great but it was cold in the middle.(Have you ever eaten cold cheesy mash? ) Layered artistically on the mash was three verrry thin tender stem broccoli - raw.Perversely the day before at a Sunday lunch costing £8 more than the tenner I paid for yesterday, the broccoli being also raw.In truth,it's horses for courses, you get what you pay for. This time round it was in balance.

We spent 2 nights here and from the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and at home. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and we slept well. The breakfast was cooked and served by the owner, a lovely man with a great knowledge of the area and keen to help. Would definitely return here.

5 out of 5! We booked last minute to celebrate a family occasion. We were greeted warmly and enjoyed a delicious dinner, of which every mouthful tasted homemade and full of flavour. Portions were generous (we boxed up to take home left overs, thank you!) and service was efficient and friendly. Puddings were also homemade and truly tasty! Our special guests were also spoiled by the landlords on their special anniversary day; the thank you 😊 Highly recommended to anyone in the area for a special occasion or for those just wanting a day off from cooking!

Went to the Coach and Horses for Sunday lunch. Walked in and we were immediately given a warm welcome by the lady in charge . She asked us where we would like to sit and took our drinks order from us as that came the menu arrived with a good choice of main courses including a vegan option . The good was prepared quickly . It was more than enough good value and a good experience . The food was hot tasty and appetizing. I would whole hardly recommended this pub for meals . We even met the chef on a previous visit there . Full marks

We have stayed here a few times now when visiting friends, but this was the first time we ate on a Sunday. The breakfasts are always top notch and we can now add their Roasts to the list. Our friends recommended their Roasts and they weren’t wrong. I went for the the Nutless Roast and the rest chose Beef. It was all delicious and the Cauliflower cheese is not to be missed. Such good value as well!

Stayed here to attend Castel Roc which is a five minute walk down the hill. Most fantastic cooked breakfast (sausages must be locally sourced - they were just fab). Room is comfy with a dolce gusto machine (nice touch). Comfy and welcoming , would stay there again

Lovely place for a short break - we stayed for two nights (extremely comfy beds) and all you would need in the room. Made to feel very welcome. Friendly and prompt service and a good range of food, including vegetarian options. Sat in the beer garden in the summer evening sun - with a gin and tonic - what more could you want. Great value for money too. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in Chepstow and would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed location for a short break or just for a meal and/or drinks in the area.

My vegetarian friend was given pork sausages instead of vegetarian ones. She ate one before noticing. The bar man gave us the money for our meals back but the experience still cost us £11. My friend spent the rest of the evening being sick. I understand that mistakes happen but this was a terrible, terrible thing to happen to a vegetarian. What if it had been a food allergy? I expect much better.

Great place for lunch time with the family. We all devoured our meals after a nice walk at Great Barnet Woods and were well pleased with the excellent value for money . Nice log fire in the hearth and dogs were welcomed. Very nice for passing through Chepstow.

We had a table booked for 15 of us! Wow what great service and the food was even better, catering to our every needs including my 5 year old grandson who’s a very picky eater! Pub is in a great location with a large car park nearby, ideal for family gatherings! My daughter and son in-law had a room booked for the evening and said how good their room was and also very clean! We are looking forward to our next visit, thank you again!

We stayed here at the start of our Offa’s Dyke walk. Very dog friendly and very friendly staff. Comfortable room and superb breakfast. Evening meal was delicious (breaded Brie and halloumi fries starters followed by scampi and steak and Stilton pie with proper chips and jam sponge with custard).

My Mum and I were lucky enough to get a table last minute for today. The food was lovely and there was so much of it too 😍 The staff and owners are really friendly, helpful and accommodating. They gave my Mum a mini box of chocolates at the end of the meal too, which was a lovely touch. Highly recommend 😊
