Popped in for lunch. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Food portions were good and the food was freshly made and excellent. Highly recommend their ploughman's. It was busy but quiet enough so you could talk to each other easily.

Really lovely quick bite with our three and a half year old, when she suddenly decided she was starving. We split a baguette and got some chips, which were honestly some of the most tasty I've ever had! Decent coffee too, and everything reasonably priced...for the area. The staff were friendly, service was speedy at just before noon, and there were plenty of seats. For buggy users, the bistro is split over three levels. I didn't see any specific baby change facilities BUT the toilets on the first floor were clean and roomy, with toddler seat provided. Outdoor seating available.More
Stopped at Hay on wye for a couple of nights, ate at Oscars. Sausage, egg and chips and ham egg and chips both cooked to perfection, plates were over flowing. Good service from staff, highly recommended
Not again .Staff would rather have a chat to each other than inter act with customers .Food was poor service was slow and it was actually quite I wonder why !!
Avoid at all costs. Unorganised mayhem... Called in on a weekday, not very busy at all. Lazy Staff unaware of customer care. Food was of poor quality and poorly cooked. Grubby sauce bottles.... Unwelcoming to say the least. Probably the worst cafe experience I've encountered.
We have always enjoyed Oscars. Sadly we have not had a good experience the last two visits to Hay. This time for example the staff serving on finding I couldn't eat the ingredients in the soup of the day did not offer alternatives but just...told ne that they had no more baked potatoes. We left at that point to find somewhere where people were interested in us as customers to please and not just someone that they were obliged to serve to get our moneyMore
When we got there we ordered a cod and a cheeseburger .My cheeseburger was driping in grease and my mum's cod was GREY and smelt off.. There was also no price on the menu. The woman who served us refunded us for the cod, but...didn't even say sorry.More
We like Oscars and go there most times we visit Hay. Yesterday we found a good range of food on offer. We chose the soup which was leek & potato and it was very good. It came with a very nice brown wholemeal roll an...butter. The place was very clean and the price reasonable.More
We came here as a family of 12 on a weekend break to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and wanted to have a nice celebration lunch all together. Unfortunately we couldn’t find a table free elsewhere and we found seating here to accommodate us all. The...man serving behind the counter was disorganised and frankly rude. After ordering and paying I overheard him having a real nasty rant at the young lad( approx 14 ) working for him. But for the fact we had payed and we had hungry kids with us I would have walked straight out. I’m really regretting not confronting him about his treatment of this young lad now. The food was average but horrendously overpriced . Don’t be tempted to eat in this nasty place, I could have put up with the overpriced food but the customer service was abysmal.More
I had a bad experience in here years ago and vowed never to go back ( I heard the owner and a staff member verbally abusing me, they must have thought I was out if earshot, you couldn't make it up) but in this insance...I was meeting others so had no choice. I ordered a coffee and the owner was his usual sulky self. Coffee was fine. No issue there, although someone had a gripe about some cake. We sat upstairs. Some of the party were eating, some just drinking. After 30 minutes or so the owner came upstairs and started clearing the table away even though we hadn't finished, the message was very clear. I cannot believe he is still in business.More
