Richard Booth is the gentleman credited with kicking off Hay-on-Wye's reputation as a book Mecca, so it seemed appropriate to go to his shop when we were there. As it happened, we found a couple of books to buy (one I'd been searching high and...More

This is a proper cafe with waitresses and a decent-sized kitchen area and the small range of food they produce is good and healthy. The setting at the back of the bookshop works well - unlike the bookshop itself it is in a very light...More

Like the bookshop, the cafe is well executed with lots of light and space. We just stopped in for tea but were greeted by a friendly waitress who didnt rush us. The prices were quite reasonable.

We visited here during the Hay Festival, so it was busy as expected. Staff were helpful finding a seat. The setting is nice, and the bookshop itself is amazing. The food was good, but rather overpriced.

We come to Hay every year for the Festival and always have at least one lunch in Richard Booth's Bookshop Cafe. We always have at least one portion of their excellent chips with whatever takes our fancy on the menu.

Richard Booth's Bookshop is the largest second hand bookshop in the world (apparently). Tucked away in the very far right hand corner of this large emporium is a really fabulous restaurant which is perfect for lunch (they are closed in the evenings). Great healthy food,...More

Buried in the bookshop, is an enticing cafe. Well worth stopping in for lunch or a snack. Prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. Nice selection of food on offer. Would recommend looking in if in the neighbourhood.

We spent hours browsing the many bookcases overloaded with books galore! What a great find! Then took lunch in the café and although we had to wait a while for a table to become available, it was worth the wait as the menu was very...More
