There are an increasing number of eateries to choose from in Hay on Wye. Choose this particular one because of the interesting menu options. Historic building, plenty of tables over 2 floors and an outdoor area as well. Very quiet on a Thursday evening only 3 groups of people in total. Fast, friendly and attentive service throughout. Food very good... More

No atmosphere & limited choice of menu. Does not feel welcoming. There are better options in the town.

We have not been to the 3 tuns for some time. We had a very warm welcome from the manageress. The meal came quickly, we chose. 1 meal from the bar menu, and 1 from the main menu. The main menu was more expensive, and we had to order a side dish of potatoes to go with it.

I am on holiday in Hay so booked a table for dinner here on Saturday evening with husband and daughter. Glad I had booked as it was pretty busy. Service was very good and staff attentive. We each had two courses - starter and main. I had very nice mushroom soup with home-made bread and then sirloin steak with home-made... More

We selected items from the cheaper bar menu but were disappointed by the quality. Pizza had a weird base and fish in fish and chips had scales left on under batter. Staff were apologetic but I wouldn't rush back.

We booked a table for Friday evening (27th March) - we arrived early and sat outside under the nice warm heater - the Service was great - Jo is the 'best bar Manager 'in Hay on Wye and the people she works with are fabulous too! The Chef remembered something we had said previously and treated us to a surprise... More

Huge portions of food, friendly staff and a beautiful building- we would happily return. They were very accommodating to the two small children we had with us too.

Stumbled across this place while in Hay-On-Wye at the weekend and popped in for a bite to eat. Lovely food! I had a spanish stew and my girlfriend had eggs benedict. Both really tasty. Had a good pint of Butty Bach to go with it which hit the spot. Friendly staff too!

Early evening mid week, but the full menu was available. The pub was quiet, warm and welcoming. Barmaid/waitress most pleasant and helpful and the food hot and tasty. Chef was innovative, and some aspects didn't quite work (sweet caramel shard on the poached egg with mushroom risotto seemed wrong) but still excellent food and ambience.

An excellent meal - it's good to visit a place that offers something different. The chef really experiments with new flavours - such as with licorice - to add a new angle on his dishes. It's a matter of personal taste sometimes but top marks for originality and service.

The Three Tuns dates back to the early 16th Century - although some records make even earlier reference to this, the oldest pub in Hay on Wye.Famous for its unique charm and character, Three Tuns became a popular haunt with local characters and well known personalities such as Jools Holland, Marianne Faithful, Neil Kinnock, Huw Edwards and some as infamous as the Great Train Robbers!Unfortunately the Three Tuns suffered a devastating fire in 2005, but a sympathetic restoration has brought life to the old building once again.Enjoy the huge inglenook fires, 16th century beams and the sympathetic new additions such as the garden room and large beer garden
