Had a brilliant Sunday lunch (pork and beef). Generous portion size, nicely cooked veg (not boiled to death). Friendly, attentive staff in spite of very busy Father's Day. Only thing that could have been better was more gravy. Would highly recommend and suggest booking if today was anything to go by. Will be back!

Decided to call in for "Pie Night" and was not disappointed. I had minted Lamb, and partner had Steak / Ale. the other couple we were with ordered from the main menu. Food arrived within 10 minutes and was piping hot, delicious and very well presented. All of the staff were attentive and very welcoming. Our friend reckons he is... More

After both my friend and I ordered the quiche we both looked a little shocked when the saucer of food arrived in front of us minus the chips as advertised on the blackboard. I was quick to point out the chips were missing so the waitress went to check in the kitchen. Another waitress came over and apologised and explained... More

£7.25 for a 'small' meal of Scampi. Arrived with 6 small pieces of overlooked scampi a handful of cheap frozen chips and frozen peas. Not good at all. Waitress too busy chatting at the bar and ignored various requests for the bill. Won't go back.

I've been to the Duke half a dozen times now over the last year or so and it definitely serves the best beer in town. Superb bitter and very friendly staff too.

We have called here numerous times as we have always enjoyed the food and we found the staff really friendly. We arrived today to find uncleared tables, the staff were to busy chatting at the bar to take our order a member of our table confronted one of the 2 women sat chatting at the bar to be told we... We arrived about 30 minutes before the scheduled end of curry night and this seems to have been a problem. We were kept waiting for half an hour and when it arrived the food was lukewarm. We sent it back but my reheated chicken madras was horrible. My partner Dennis's so-called prawn curry was actually a thin sauce with small... More

We had eagerly anticipated a return visit to The Duke during our recent trip to Buxton, however we were disappointed that standards had dropped a bit since our previous visit last October. Service was extremely slow – the restaurant had been busy when we arrived, however it had quietened off by the time we came to order dessert, and we... More
