We visited here on a Wednesday evening as the menu looked quite comprehensive and there were options for one of our group that was vegetarian. We selected drinks and were told that the lager we wanted was off. So we were given an alternate that...was ok, but the 2nd was flat. Shame there was no Mexican option. Starters were ok, but main meal disappointing, very average and little spice or flavour you normally get on a Mexican, not even dips like guacamole, sour cream included with your meal. No one ever came to ask if the meal was okay. The room lacked atmosphere, and on visiting the mens toilets on the way out, three young lads had locked themselves in there for some reason ? Perhaps removing the lock of the main door to the room would stop this. As this is next to the bar I’m sure the two staff talking there could have monitored it better. Sadly would not return.More

Dined here a year ago and really enjoyed it so just had to go back. It was just as good, excellent service, great food, lively ambience. Love it !

We were looking forward to our meals here as they looked lovely. I suppose we should have been a bit wary as a nearby diner suddenly vomited over themselves, but that could have been for any reason and not the restaurant's fault. However, a few...minutes later, while eating a vegetarian dish entitled 'Veggie Mayhem' a piece of chicken was found inside. It was hastily spat out, as the eater is vegetarian. A waitress was called who, without really apologising, took the meal saying she would take it to the chef to "check if it is chicken or not". It was clearly chicken! The waitress returned, apologising this time, but rather less helpfully saying that the chef confirmed that there was chicken in the wrap. It was agreed that we did not have to pay for this dreadful experience of a meal, so we left. The waitress again apologised as we left, but by then the damage was done. As a long-time vegetarian I will certainly never set foot in this restaurant again.More

We have not visited the lonestar in a very long time, approx 10yrs. So we were hoping for a fabulous evening and they did not disappoint After drinks been ordered we were given plenty of time to look at the menu as I didn't know...what I wanted. Decided on a buxton bird with upgraded fries to the parma ones and hubby did the same burger but upgrades to dirty fries. The food arrived hot, well presented and fresh. Despite been well fed we also had a pud. Both tasty and well presented, the lomonchello was stunning after a big meal. All good quality services The waiting on staff were attentive but not pushy, John (whom we have know for a long time) waiting the bar, professional as ever. We will be back soonMore

Booked in the Old Clubhouse for pre theatre meal but massively let down as the waiting time was over an hour. (07/04/22). Took a chance and went to Lone star..so glad we did. From when we arrived John went out of his way to accommodate...us knowing that we were up against the start of the performance. He took our order quickly and kept us up to date on when the meal would arrive. When it did it was amazing, looked fabulous and tasted superb!. He gave us the bill to pay before we had finished which was brill coz we literally walked out when finished to get to the show.. absolute superb experience and we will definitely be back when we visit again..thank you John and the team!More

Manged to get in on a Saturday evening thanks to a cancellation and the Lone Star certainly delivered. The venue is perfect right in the centre of Buxton. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Great choice of cocktails and drinks. The food menu has...something for everyone, we are both vegetarians and had options aplenty. The food came quick and was delicious, the portions were generous and the flavours so good! Would highly recommend 😁More

We were very happy with our choice of the Lone Star for an early evening pre-theatre meal a few days ago. The staff were welcoming and efficient, the food was delicious and the portions generous. The burger was one of the tastiest we have had...for a long time. The "Alabama Slammer" was juicy and succulent. We could not have managed a starter! The beer was good too. And it was inexpensive compared with many restaurants. The location is ideal for the Opera House. We look forward to going back.More
