We eat at the Indian Queen fairly often & always find the food incredibly tasty & well presented. The menu is varied & the wine list is reasonably priced. The staff are always welcoming, friendly & efficient. The Indian Queen is busy seven nights a week so booking is advisable. We always look forward to dining here. It’s a great restaurant!!

We approached the manager of the Indian Queen with an idea this being in the form of an ‘off the menu’ banquet for all of us with our Mains all on the bone. (Like the old days) He thought it a good idea with the reservation he needed to consult with the chefs. That meeting went fine and we set a date and numbers so he could order in the food. On the night 14 of Shutfords finest attended. Ali had lain on a splendid 4 course feast. Poppadoms. 2 Starters. 3 Mains. Sweet Desert. The 3 mains we had were Catfish, Lamb and Chicken. With rice and Nan’s. Now S.C.C. are not dainty eaters but we did not manage to clear the generous amounts supplied. When the very attentive staff were serving us we were running out of room for the food. At the end of the meal we asked for the chefs and gave them and the team a round of applause. Thanks to the management and the staff for a brilliant evening. Bill Boucker on behalf of Shutford Curry Club.

We had been intending to go to this restaurant for ages and weren’t disappointed. Good menu and the prices are reasonable too, excellent fish curry, onion bhajees were great along with most of the other dishes we chose however the butter chicken sauce was too sweet and the chickpea side dish a very vibrant red ! Staff are friendly and all except one were wearing masks. Table clothes were changed after each group of diners.

We booked a table for three for Saturday (18/1/20) to treat our son on his birthday. We started with poppadoms and sprinkles followed by three delicious starters (king prawns, mixed grill and spiced salmon.) The mains were excellent and the service friendly and attentive. A lovely evening well spent.

This place just keeps on serving top quality Indian food at reasonable prices, with a great welcome. I’ve only ever used the takeaway option, but it’s always ready at the agreed time and the restaurant area has a satisfied sound to it whenever I call in. Too many restaurants either come and go, or have variable quality, but the Indian Queen has been doing great takeaways for at least five years now. Be adventurous - it’s the kind of place where there is genuine variety on the menu.

It’s about time that I wrote a review for the Indian Queen. We have been having takeaways there for over a year now and not once have we ever had a bad meal. Most places are a bit inconsistent however every single time the order is spot on and the food is delicious. The staff are so friendly and value your custom. My family and I appreciate good food and have eaten lots of Indian cuisine over the years. We make a 40 minute round trip to eat from there and we’re never disappointed. The place was heaving tonight with diners and people collecting takeaways; given its rural location that speaks volumes. We couldn’t recommend it enough and excellent value for money. Superb!

Booked for family of 5, 3 adults and 2 older teens. one of us was vegan, 2 were vegetarian, one was wheat intolerant. The ambiance in the restaurant was fine, a little chilly that night. The setting is a bit like a pub restaurant. Staff were attentive, a bit of a wait for food but not too bad, maybe 20-25 minutes. We were provided with poppadoms in the meantime and they were good. There was an interesting selection of food, it was good to see vegetarian options although it would be good to see a couple of interesting Dahls on that list . There was one Dahl in the 'sundries' list which one teen had but it was very watery - he said it tasted fine but not much substance. One teen had the aubergine vegetarian option. It looked good but she found she could not eat more than half of it due to the heavy taste of Ghee?, making it very greasy for her. Should there be Ghee in a vegan dish?! In fact we all realised that there was a ghee taste that dominated most of the food. It was tasty but the greasiness got to you after a while. I had coconut rice to go with my veg dish. I found it to be very sweet which I was not expecting. Again it was tasty but I did not want to eat a lot of it. We would rate this experience as middling, not bad but not fantastic. We probably wont go there again.

This was our first visit to the Indian Queen. This lovely restaurant is housed in an old pub building about 5 miles outside Banbury on the Stratford Road, close to the villages of Wroxton, Shenington and Alkerton. We didn't see it in daylight, but the building is situated on it's own and looks lovely. The food was first class and the service excellent. The menu is varied and extensive, and the portion sizes were large, which we were very happy with. It worth knowing that one portion of rice is probably sufficient for two, especially if you have nan bread and side dishes as well. After freshly made papadoms with pickles and sauces, I had Jhinga Garlic Masala Special - a wonderfully presented, giant king prawn dish accompanied with a superb sauce - and my father had Tandoori Chicken Masala, which he had never tried before! We added side dishes of Bombay Aloo and Tarka Dall, along with garlic naan bread, mushroom rice, and plain rice. All the dishes were wonderful and we will definitely be returning. I should add that the service was efficient and friendly, and the restaurant has first class covid-19 measures in place.

Just got home from a superb meal at the IQ. My daughters birthday today and she wanted to go back after such a long enforced break and visit for a chicken korma ! She was 5 years old today and was treated like a princess by Jabs and the team who laid on a special birthday meal experience for us all. Good luck to everyone at the IQ with the rest of this year, highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of visiting for proper meal and a personal service.

From a recommendation we decided to give the restaurant and food a try. From the moment we stepped in, we were made to feel welcome and the staff were all very friendly. I had the lamb shank which was extremely tender and along with the sauce was a very nice flavoured dish. I will definitely be returning again in the future.

Ordered an online takeaway, no problem, emailed back to accept order, all good, noted on takeaway menu that a discount of 10% was offered on collection orders. However, staff did not want to honour said discount because order was placed via website!. I explained to staff that it was still being collected ! So discount is valid, i was going to pay full price when staff exclaimed that i was being"funny" with him. So i retrieved my money and advised them that i would not return again. They lost out on a £66.00 order. For being rude. Their loss not mine.

Now I used to come here most weeks without fail, yes the curry was always a little more pricey but it evened itself out on everything else. I can understand a 10% increase or so on the menu prices but £1 on most things, £1 on the curry, £1 on the Naans, £1 on the Rice, £1 on the starter is absolutely shocking and terrible. These are now rip of prices on the price increase of the rice, naans and appetisers

It's always a pleasure to celebrate my birthday at this terrific restaurant. Hadn't been since 2019 pre-covid and the absence made my heart grow fonder! The creamy sauce in the Vegetarian Korma is just how I remembered it and so delicious it is too. The staff here are attentive, polite, convivial and welcoming- have never had a negative experience here and don't personally know anyone who has either.

We had butter chicken takeaway and honestly it was the worst I have had. I really don’t understand why they think we want to eat over dyed incredibly sweet but otherwise tasteless food that Indian restaurants all seem to produce these days. Thin strips of dry chicken in a sugary gloop. Not worth eating or the £40 we paid.
