Always great food and service, gluten free a bonus

We travel to the opposite side of town regularly because one family member needs gluten free and we know that this establishment does it properly with contamination controls. All the food is cooked fresh and is of good quality and taste. The staff are all friendly and courteous, even smiling in the boiling heat. Since the lockdown, we have ordered on the app several times for a timed collection slot, and the food was ready on the dot of our pick up time, still lovely and freshly cooked. Thank you Kevin & team.

Long Wait by lovely chips

Following our recent visit to Catch on a Friday evening (fish and chip night) at around 6 in the evening, it was disappointing to see only two members of staff trying to cope with high online and walk up demand, I am aware that due to social distancing this must be difficult however appropriate PPE could be worn to increase this. My partner ordered 1 portion of chips, this took 20 plus minutes to be ready which in my opinion is to long. Admittedly the service received was good and the chips were lovely, however I do believe that being efficient doesn't take alot.

You are correct that working in close proximity and keeping social distance is one of the many challenges small businesses face at present. Along with the downturn in trade and profits that home working also brings. We have been open again since the 11th May when we also introduced our app and online ordering platforms to enable out customers to order their food, and choose a suitable time to collect having prepaid (and also saved 10% off their total bill) This has been a great success and has enabled us to cater for many more customers, but yes this does mean that walk in customers may occasionally have to wait a little bit longer. Best battered cod ever!! No lie

I went to catch on a lunch break with all intention to grab a meal deal from Tesco next door. Being new to the area I spotted catch and thought why not grab a more substantial lunch and boy was I not disappointed. The fish was so fresh and flaked into huge steak like pieces, hands down the best fish I have ever ordered from a chippy!! Would 1000% recommend this place to everyone. Can’t wait to go back next Friday!

How not to cook fish!

Sorry guys but this was the worst fish experience ever. We ordered online and I was early to collect so the fish was not hanging around. I presume as I had a short wait the fish was being cooked as I waited, how wrong could I be. At £7.45 for a piece of fish I would have thought the frier would be able to cook it to at least a reasonable standard, sadly this was not the case. The large cod was so over cooked the only edible part was about two inches at the fat end, the other 80% was awful, in fact it reminded me of school dinners in the 70’s, which ain’t a good memory. My wife had a small cod, which although not as bad as mine, was still very over cooked. This is the only review I’ve done but am so disappointed I felt compelled to air my feedback. So, sorry Catch but couldn’t recommend you on this experience.

Good Morning, regarding your review. Your fish like everyone else's is cooked fresh to order so that it does not sit around and dry out. However on this occasion something has obviously gone wrong. In my opinion it makes no difference whether the cost of the fish is £1 or £10 it should be fried to yours and our expectations. You can see from the vast majority of our reviews that we do know how to cook fish. Unfortunately some customers only ever feel compelled to leave reviews on bad experiences otherwise I am sure we would have even more positive reviews. I would have hoped that you may have contacted the shop direct with your issue, maybe you will email me so that I may address this directly with you. Catch of my week!! Superb midweek treat.

I’ve heard good things about this place so I tried it out for my first time on a Monday evening, and let me tell you, this won’t be my last! Firstly I must say how clean this place is, no surprise of their 5 star health and and hygiene rating. You can watch your food be prepared over the counter, and was served up in no time. The staff over the counter were lovely and showed an interest speaking to me whilst I waited. I’m not sure what the fish trade is like on Mondays but this place seemed pretty busy whilst I was there, around 5 different groups of people popping in whilst I was waiting. I think they also do deliveries. I was ordering on behalf of myself and a few friends, we ordered some chicken balls, sausage, a few pies, some fish and of course chips. I’m still surprised at how little this cost me because the food is clearly fresh. Brilliant quality (in particularly the fish) I will certainly be back soon. Thanks a lot to the team at Catch, we are certainly satisfied customers!!

Worth the wait!

We had been waiting for the weekend to arrive so that we could order from Catch. We decided to order directly with them and collect, after a couple of recent delivery courier issues, and we were pleased that we did, as it gave us a chance to look inside and get a feel for the place. Very bright and welcoming and most importantly sparkly clean! Staff busy working away, but friendly and welcoming to those who came in as well. As you can see by responses on TA thé management are active and passionate about the business, and this clearly passed down through the team. The food really is worth the 5* ratings given on Trip Advisor. This is good quality fish and chips at a reasonable price. Portions are beyond huge and we have enough food left to warm up a full meal again tomorrow! Whoops, we will bear this is mind with our next order. Meals - No complaints from anyone in the house! All VERY full and all pleased with the taste. Even my hard to please husband said it was the best fish and chips he’s had in a long time! Curry sauce - Like real curry sauce from the Indian takeaway, not anything like the usual version offered in other takeaways. Minted peas - again nothing like other takeaway, but in a good way. Very flavoursome! See you again soon Catch!

Going downhill

This used to be the best place around here for fish&chips, but the last couple of times we have been here the food has not been as good. The chips were hard and dry and the fish was greasy and tastless, and the batter soggy. Such a shame, going to have to find another fish and chips shop.

Great food but awful service

This is without a doubt the best fish and chips place in Kent. But and it's a hell of a but one of the staff is an absolute nightmare. Went a couple of weeks ago and asked for gluten free. On a gluten free day. What did you say she asked. Ordered and got a fantastic meal but seriously kissed off with having to ask twice. Went back today and deliberately asked to place a gluten free order to be asked what I wanted 3 of. Said thank you and walked out. If you have the time and energy to ask for everything twice knowing that you have spoken slowly and clearly the first time you will have a great meal. But if you hate being taken for an idiot give it a swerve. Seriously, she is taking the kiss out of your customer's and many are noticing.

Hello and thanks for your review. Glad that you really like our food and Value. On this occasion as it is remembered by the shop staff. The server happened to say hello to you just as you said your order, so to be 100% sure she politely asked you just to double check. Yes it was a Gluten Free day and although the demand has grown enormously for this it is still by far in the minority of orders so of course we are going to double check to ensure that no errors are made. We certainly dont take any of our customers for idiots, they are all appreciated for supporting a small local business. Two things, firstly there is another side to the bed, secondly why not download our brand new app, that way you can order and pay and not have to talk to anyone if you dont wish to. Maybe take the Covid screen down?

Lovely food but the atmosphere in this place lets it down. They have a 'Covid screen' up so the staff can't hear the customers and customers can't hear the staff. Not helped by a really loud refrigeration system. Not the most pleasant experience.

Hello, i am really pleased that you have given our food a 5 star review. Yes we do still have our "Covid Screen" up. If you saw what was cleaned off this every evening you may understand why. I appreciate that on some occasions especially with more quietly spoken people it may be slightly harder to hear but its worked well for over 4 years now and our customers numbers have really grown so im glad we are doing somethings correct. Best fish and chips I’ve had in years & with homemade tartar sauce. Crisp, tasty, good portions and not greasy. Nom! Nom! Spotless chippy with friendly staff. All recyclable packaging including cutlery. What more could you want! I’ll definitely be back for more.

Takeaway order wrong

Asked for 3 cod, large chips and cheese burger. Goy it home to find I had a fish burger. I don't eat fish so subsequently I had no dinner. I've mentioned this on your twitter but have been ignored. I will leave this review wherever possible. Will not use again

Good morning, regarding your review. Apologies that we made a mistake, in the ten years now that we have been open i believe this is the first occasion that the server has given out a wrong product. Unfortunately this means that we made two mistakes as the customer who ordered a fish burger received a cheese burger. Fortunately they did the sensible thing and rang the shop so that we could correct this error. We are a busy shop so do not monitor our social media 24/7, we do however answer the telephone as quickly as we can. Sorry you feel the need to share our human mistake wherever possible, perhaps you will be so kind as to share our reply as well. Kind regards Martin

Lovely team and gorgeous food… ohhh sneaky sausage and chips before home so tasty. Found it by accident as dad fancied some chips, and though let’s give it a try! The food was fantastic and the people in there lovely too

Didn’t visit the restaurant but ordered online , Not long moved to Ashford and have tried a few other places - this knocks the rest out the park ! 10/10 great portion sizes and very tasty - not greasy.
