Me and my partner came here one evening for dinner out of complete random choice. The staff were amazing so friendly and attentive especially Darrell and the new guy that had just started with long hair.
Really lovely service!
We were a group of 5 friends meeting for drinks. I've been to the pub many times and enjoyed our visits very much. Sadly on this occasion we had far too good a time, and a waitress felt it necessary to ask us to laugh...more quietly. On the one hand I'm quite pleased that in our 50's & 60's we've still got what it takes to be "hushed" in a pub. On the other hand it did leave a bit of a nasty taste - instead of staying to eat we finished up our drinks and I think we'll enjoy ourselves elsewhere in future.More
A very good, old fashioned pub with a friendly atmosphere and welcoming, helpful staff. The menu has changed since the last time we were here but there's still a very good choice of meals. My wife is Gluten Free but this did not cause any...problems. I even had one of the GF options (the chestnut mushroom, butternut squash and thyme pie) which was very tasty. All the food (our friends had the home-made crispy Mexican Burrito Baskets) was well presented and potion sizes were ample. Can certainly recommend.More
All our food was lovely by far the best meal we uave had out in ages. Service was perfect all staff friendly quick with drinks and food. On the whole excellent meal for our family and have already booked for next weekend
Having read reviews about the Chequers we thought we would give it a try.
What a good decision .
Staff very polite and courteous.
Menu choice excellent, with prices to match.
The carvery was absolutely first class.
Plenty of meats available and a huge choice...of fresh vegetables.
All staff seemed happy and most welcoming to the diners.
This was well worth the trip from Canterbury.
Will definitely return for another visit.More
