I celebrated my birthday here with family and friends and WOW...... what is there to say the food was out of this world, we were first given a complementary Amuse Bouche which did exactly as it should and got our taste buds going and longing for more. Our meal was cooked to perfection. The staff where attentive and we were certainly well looked after. We choose to eat in the restaurant which was more than comfy. Over all it was a very pleasant experience and I will not be waiting for my next birthday to go back.

We have been fans of the Kings Arms for a while so decided to order our Valentines meal from there. We have tried a few different takeaways from local pubs during lockdown and this was the best one we have had by a mile! The food arrived on time delivered by a smart, polite gentleman in a lovely valentines themed box! The food itself was delicious (we had the veggie option) and we were especially impressed that even the bread rolls that came with our starter arrived warm and doughy! The little card inside with instructions and truffles were lovely extra touches, we really appreciated the effort. Thank you for making our lockdown valentines special❤️

Four of us stayed here late September 2020. Rooms good, Breakfast and meals excellent! I required the vegetarian options on menu but after a few nights has eaten them all, I asked for something else and the Chefs NICK and JOSH were very accommodating and expertly made two more different dishes for me, the Stuffed Peppers were lovely and the sweet potatoe cakes were a lovely surprise. All the staff here are so friendly and easy to talk to. The ambience in the bar and restaurant is relaxed and cozy. Lovely place, lovely people, ZOE really helpful, a great people person. Will stay here again definitely when I m that way.More like a Hotel than a B&B. Very short walk to National Trust Montacute House which was useful. Staff used masks and shields and made everything fun. 10 Stars to everybody and thankyou!!!

Thank you very much the kings arms for making are Christmas Day 👍 We had a takeaway for five people and it came in large box. Wrapped up like gift 🎁 The meals had all there heating instructions on a card, even made me look good when I severed up the three courses. The time and thought that had gone into it was ‘’EXCELLENT’’ in a year like this some people just have it. And that’s you the KINGS ARMS

V rude staff, had to ask three times for table with globs of beef stew from previous guests to be cleaned. We were left in a side room and were left to our own devices - no offers of more drinks. When food arrived it was good but so ruined by grumpy young waitress with attitude

I was staying in the Kings Arms for 2 nights and I was travelling from Bristol Airport a bit later than expected on the first. I called ahead to see what time the kitchen closed. It would be before I was arriving but staff member who I was talking to offered to read out the menu so I could pick a dish, for it to be prepared and heated on my arrival. I was met on arrival with the requested dish and only 2 other patrons in the hotel. The staff member (Colin I think) had kindly stayed behind to make sure I was sorted. The meal was lovely. It would have not been possible to find any food in the local area at that time. I seen alot of reviews about great customer service, very happy to see its completely correct =)

Wow, what a fantastic find. We decided to stop for a light lunch after visiting Montacute house. We were accompanied by our hound and were all made very welcome. A good selection of well kept Ales and Ciders were on offer from the well stocked bar and we were quickly found and escorted to a table. There was plenty of choice from a pretty comprehensive menu, including vegetarian and vegan dishes, and all reasonably priced. We ordered Ciabattas which quickly arrived and came with a dressed green leaf salad and nice crispy chips. All in all, we had a lovely lunchtime stop. The food, drink, price and service were absolutely spot on 💯. We will return for dinner in the near future 👍

Can't say enough good things about this gastropub inn. Room upstairs was clean and comfortable, and Clive couldn't be a more welcoming host. He was friendly without being overbearing, and made certain our room, drinks, and meal were to our satisfaction. As for the restaurant. From a Moroccan tomato soup to roasted duck and cottage pie, everything was prepared with a light hand and it the best meals we had during our few days in Somerset and Devon. Montacute itself is a tiny town, but beautiful, and we would certainly make a point of staying here again when in the area.

We stayed in this hotel last weekend and were greeted by a friendly, bubbly, accommodating member of staff we later discovered was called Zoe. She also served us breakfast the following day and could not do enough to make our experience fantastic and she made us feel like valued customers. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff were the complete opposite. On going to dinner in the evening our waitress was very sultry. She did not smile once, was not welcoming or friendly and seemed to not want to be there. We had to wait for drinks and ask for them. The food was fine although portions were quite small (particularly the mackerel starter) and there was a lack of sides and vegetables. Nothing wrong with the food overall however it is definitely over priced. The pub emptied out and we were the only ones left. We weren't given the bill as they were going to give it to us when left. We were discussing at the table that we ought to look at it to check it over and make sure it was correct at which point the manageress stormed through and said she'd get it for us to check, clearly having been listening to our conversation. The waitress then proceeded to bring it over and throw it at us. Considering we had spent a reasonable amount of money this was unacceptable service and we will not be returning.

we chose the King's Arms for a lunch stop on a long journey on the A303, to make a change from the bland service station offerings. we were not disappointed. we sat at one of the outside tables in the sun with our dog and enjoyed a light lunch which was served by the friendly and efficient bar team. the out is in the heart of the village next to the church in a historic English village we both had a sandwich and fries, and it hit the spot. we will be back when we next travel this way

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the Kings Arms we were shown to a small room with a couple of tables in, which I found very nice. A young lady came and took our drinks order and returned promptly with them, talked us through the menu, very professional. We had our starters and was left alone another waiter came and asked was everything OK, A timely gap before our mains came, which were I might add very delicious, well presented and plentiful. The whole experience from start to finish was like being in a very up market restaurant in London, but in the middle of Somerset. keep up the good work. If you wish to eat here I suggest you book well in advance, to save being disappointed.

Popped in for lunch. As we were passing thro Montacute. Staff are so friendly, the decor and ambience is warm and the food was lovely too. Can recommend the corn beef hash and poached egg, and my husband had a Chinese chicken sandwich, which came with chips. It was done beautifully with a nice fresh crisp salad. We dont live too far away, so will deffo be back. And it’s dog friendly 🐶

We stayed here while visiting the area, the staff are lovley and really helpful. We had a family room which had plenty of space. My daughter said her bed was like sleeping on a cloud - she doesn't give many compliments...! Our bed was also really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious we all had a the 'full english' which was beautifully cooked. Should we be in the area again we will definitely stay again

My partner and I came down to have a chilled weekend and visiting friends. The location is really lovely and relaxing, just what we needed for a little break from work. Unlucky for us the boiler decided to give up so we weren’t able to take a shower in the morning, we report it to Sarah, who offered to give us immediately another room in order to take a shower, however we couldn’t as we were tight on time as we needed to be somewhere, so we got offered a full refund of our stay. A day later, back home, I’ve realised that I’ve left my glasses behind, at that point I’ve already lost my faith and thought that I wouldn’t be able to have them back. I’ve called the hotel and spoke to Sarah again who immediately said that I’ve left my glasses in the room, at that point I was so happy to hear the good news, that instead of having them posted, we decided to take another trip down to Somerset! Everything was just perfect, everyone were incredibly polite, kind and actually all the staff done that extra mile to make sure that we were happy and satisfied with the service. We are both business owners, I come from a family of restaurateurs, I can genuine say that the food was divine! All dishes were well balanced, full of flavour and different textures. From a starter, dessert to the breakfast everything was well presented and fantastic. Although the unforeseen circumstance, the staff at the Kings Arms Inn shown an exemplary customer service, that nowadays it is really rare to see. We will be definitely come back to visit Sarah and the team very soon! Thank you for everything once again… Chiara & Toby

We had our 2 little dogs with us and we were all made so comfortable Breakfast was Great ......The only one little thing that I would suggest is a better /stronger fan in the room with the heat the way it is the fan did not help much at all i'm afraid but that is all so 99% perfect in my Books Will be back again for sure . Staff were just so friendly what a pleasure
