Took my ancient and not very mobile parents there. When booking had requested table near fire with easy access and that was exactly what we got. Very thoughtful service. Good choice of food with some excellent specials(sea bream a particular hit). Dad had starter and this seemed to cause a rather prolonged delay for mains, so I think things may... More

Back in the 70's, when we were young and lived in Sussex, we used to come to this pub. We returned last October and found that it hasn't lost its charm. Although we were with our new grandson - starting him early on trips to pubs - we still felt welcome and enjoyed a lovely bar meal. This week, we... More

A great pub lunch. We were happy to take our time and enjoy our conversation, the bar and the fire. It was busy so the main was an hour after we came in - but we did have a starter. Huge portions, good tender meat and plenty of veg. Good beer selection x4. We will be back and in the... More

Thursday 19th January, early evening had just checked into our accommodation for the night, Findon Motel (reviewed separately) and we went out to explore the village. We discovered, about 2 minutes walk from the Motel, 2 pubs across the road from each other, so we decided to visit here after we had been to the Village House (reviewed separately). What... More

After a crisp cold walk up Cissbury we decided to warm up at this lovely village pub! The staff were very attentive and the pub was full. We were lucky enough to get a spacious table right by the fire for us and our dogs. I had the tacos which warmed me right through. My friend enjoyed the confit duck,... More

We went as a group of 15 for a friend's retirement and ate in a private room. We had excellent service, the food was exceptional and offered a wide range choice. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and I would recommend the gun for a small private function.

With the tradition old pub feeling and good quality food it's the one we most frequently visit and prefer this to the other four in the village.

I like the Gun, it has a ''local'' feel and it's friendly and welcoming. The food is home cooked and the husband and wife team make the whole place zip along nicely. As always every one else I was with also had a super experience too. The food is a definite plus point and add in the friendliness then this... More

Booked a table here in the restaurant for a family celebration lunch, we'd eaten here on numerous occasions in the past and had always been very good. When we arrived we were shown our table and were surprised to see how full it was,our table for six was shoe horned in somehow by the bar, anyway we squeezed in as... More

I visited the Gun twice over 2 months and always received quick, friendly and welcoming service. I have tried both the roast lamb shoulder and roast beef on each occasion and felt that the lamb was the best overall. The food comes out quickly and although i would have preferred more choice of pudding, the orange sponge drizzle was just... More
