Had excellent fish & chips once more at Sea Lane Cafe after a walk beside the sea with a friend. Our orders were taken, our lunch was freshly cooked, was piping hot & we did not have to wait very long.

I hate having to write this revue, but I feel I need too. All through the year I have picked up a coffee and often a cake at least 3 to 4 times a week. I have always accepted they are not the cheapest, however ,the quality...is second to none. With the 'tourist' season over,I still intend to carry on my same routine. Last week, I noticed the prices had increased on the coffees, fair enough, businesses have to survive in this economic climate, but today at the kiosk, I was told that the coffee comes in a new size cup, with the old medium size is now a large, and an even smaller cup is now a medium. And to add insult to injury, the lids do not even fit securely in the cups!!! Much as I love the place and the amazing staff,I today walked away feeling 'screwed over'. OK,I'm not the most profitable customer in the world, but I spend an average £10 to £15 a week, but, sadly no more.More
A good location but also the only cafe around so they have a monopoly. Good choice of milks and drinks. Bakery food better than cakes which are quite low in flavour. New marquee is good but blocks views, I think they have long term plans...for that which is great. Sadly great variation in staff friendliness. It’s like they don’t need the business so they act how they like. We’ve lived in Worthing for 20 years and this is consistently our experience. Some staff are amazing and care about the customer’s. We’re always polite when making some requests and sometimes get a warm response, other times a defensive dismissive one. The younger staff tend to be warmer and more professional in their response. The request we make is valid otherwise our £3.50 coffee is watery (this is the same everywhere) and some staff are professional in their response others are unsmiling, annoyed and defensive. They’re mildly rude when asked for a bit more milk. People keep going because of the location but this doesn’t mean customer service should suffer. I’ve worked in the service industry and life’s better when you’re friendly!!More
Waited 20 minutes queuing only to get someone with no customer service! Coffee was weak and expensive for a small cup. Only positive point is the location.
Nice place and good cafe nice fresh food and the staff were really attentive.Dog friendly which makes a difference, and set right on the beach.
The food here is always excellent, served quickly despite always being very popular. The burger is absolutely awesome!
Staff were very rude and unhelpful didn’t know anything about the produce they were selling. Very unprofessional and made us feel like we won’t return to this what was a lovely place to go.
On a sunny summer day Sea Lane was packed to the gunnels. Despite this: staff were really friendly, cooked food was served promptly and was really good. A wide range of cakes all looked amazing: I settled for fruit scones, which were excellent. Highly recommended.
Really busy place, but it was a fabulous day to be at the sea side. Great menu with efficient service. Great snack at lunchtime
Ordered a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich. Sandwich came almost instantly and comprised of some sort of chicken , mayo and bacon paste slathered on some pretty awful tasting tough white bread. Could actually not eat the crusts they were so tough and some pre...packaged baby lettuce leaves which had started to rot and were brown. Had to pick them out of the sandwich. REALLY awful sandwich at what was a massively over inflated price! How they can justify a £7 price tag for this is beyond me. Also beware the seagulls who swoop down and steal your sandwich off the plate. Happened to 4 people including ourselves when we were there. At least they thought the food was okay. While I don’t blame the restaurant for this they provide unsheltered seating which spills onto the beach and there are no warning signs. Never again. All style no substanceMore
Sunday Father’s Day breakfast for me today. The place was buzzing, noisy and lots of dogs but even so we all enjoyed breakfast. Such a shame local councils are so short sighted in not creating more beach cafes , it’s what people want and enjoy,...plus it would be a real money spinner for them.More
This is a lovely cafe, that we have frequented many times over the years, however since two of our family were diagnosed with Coeliac disease requiring a strictly gluten free diet we now take packed lunches and snacks to the beach instead. They do offer...gluten free cakes - but they are in the same cabinet / shelves as gluten containing cakes, and they cut/serve them using the same utentils meaning that they do not remain gluten free. A simple fix would be to keep gluten free cakes seperate from the others and have seperate utentils for them! There are limited gluten free options for lunch food, namely jacket potatoes, but again we fear there is a high risk of cross contamination.More
Beautiful breakfast and staff were very nice. Dog friendly too with them allowed inside if we’ll behaved
Always a favourite when we are in the area. The cakes are wonderful but we had no space for them after our excellent lunch.
Really well run cafe. Always popular and busy, but plenty of staff who are friendly, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was lovely, particularly smashed avo. Will keep coming back.
