Had some fantastic cakes arrive yesterday. Beautiful presentation in a box with a ribbon,& and full of goodies! Cakes are literally to die for, definitely worth it!! If anybody is stuck for choice, THE BROWNIES ARE INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!
So happy this place is delivering vegan cakes throughout this difficult time as it's hard to find anything anywhere else.
Thank you Happy teapot for your service and dedication to your customers. Xxx

It is in an old shop, and there are tables in the shop windows if you want to watch the world go by - and have the world look at you.
Further inside, the decor is " explosion in an antique shop" style, complete with old signs giving advice of varying degrees of usefulness. There are mismatched wooden chairs around tables covered in cheerful red and white covers. A skylight gives enough light while not distracting from the cosy atmosphere.
As the name suggests, you can get all kinds of tea and coffee here and if you want hot chocolate or milk shake there is a hand-written list of the varieties of those on offer too..
It is not just dainty tea and cake though. A BLT sandwich is the acid test for any cafe. The sound and smell of frying bacon boded well. The finished article was a Rolls Royce of the BLT genre. Brown bread stuffed with the proper ingredients, a side salad and helping of crisps. There is plenty here for non-carnivores too.
A gem of a place and hopefully, the staff of the library and law courts nearby will appreciate it.

We booked The Happy Teapot for a private event for 20 guests. Netti (the owner/ manager) was available to me beforehand to go through any dietary requirements for guests and even wanted to know any decor plans so that they could dress the table accordingly. Everything ran so smoothly on the day, there was SO MUCH FOOD, which was super efficiently boxed afterwards for us to take home so there was no waste. Couple in the party were gluten free/ dairy free/ veggie and everyone was catered to and I noticed how diligent the staff were about cross contamination. It's a cute venue, with scrummy home made food, but honestly Netti and the girls made the day for us, they were so sweet and accommodating really couldn't have done more for us.

Was looking forward to our visit today 27/11/21 with my daughter and friend, pre booked a table for 12.15. We arrived on time and placed order which in itself was dragged out as the server couldn’t find what we requested so I had it point out this was under the sandwich section of the menu! Drinks arrived in ten minutes which was fine but still no food arrived by 1pm. Waitress came over at 1pm saying there had been a “glitch” with our order! But the fact that there had already been three just eat deliveries going out of the door in the time we had been waiting for our order speaks volumes about which customer is the priority. When our order eventually came at 1.10pm two of the sandwiches came in brown bread when white had been ordered but I didn’t see the point in saying anything as how much longer would that have taken to correct! I am always keen to support local businesses but I will never set foot in there again because of this shambles of customer service. It’s a shame that the just eat deliveries take more priority of the customer who takes time to come to your establishment.

Thanks for your review.
Whilst I appreciate you did have to wait longer than usual for your order I feel ‘shambles’ takes it a little too far.
I can only apologise for your wait time and the difference in bread preference. I feel it’s unfair to criticise a new member of staff for taking a couple of minutes to find items on the menu, we all have to start somewhere.
JustEat have changed their system so whether people order 1 item or 20 I am only getting 10minutes to complete the orders, we were unaware of the update and subsequently let you down yesterday.
I did send over a waitress twice to offer apologies and free drinks, she did note you refused and weren’t very happy. There is only so much I can do and quite frankly yesterday was one of the worst days in my ten years at the happy teapot, fortunately I had already prepared myself for this review from you.
As I have said previously, I can only apologise for your wait time, sometimes things don’t go as planned but I can assure you I did everything imaginable to please everyone that day, but I’m not a robot. Also worth mentioning none of our food is precooked whatsoever.
I’m sorry you feel due to this you won’t be returning. It’s such a shame we all work extremely hard and do 1000s things right each week, but we will only get critisised for the 1 mistake.
Thanks again for your feedback and supporting a small local business

Good variety of different homemade cakes. I had the rose and pistachio which was tasty and moist with plenty of flavour and not mean with the nuts. My friends had sandwiches, which were generously sized and served with salad and crisps. Good range of tasty milkshakes but these were strangely not on the menu but listed by the till. Pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, pretty environment. The prices were extremely reasonable, good variety on the menu, all lovely. The only thing that let them down was the service. We had to ask for cake fork, napkins and fresh milk as it was off.

Hi Annabel, thank you for taking the time to review us and offer some feedback of which will be noted.
We’re thrilled you were happy with what we had on offer here and enjoyed the atmosphere too.
I can only apologise our waitress had served a spoon with your freak shake and not the additional fork you had to ask for.
Napkins are no longer ‘free for all’ due to cross contamination reasons so I apologise if the napkins that come with cutlery weren’t satisfactory, I’ll make sure we offer more in future however we are always on hand if you should ever need anything extra.
Unfortunately, due to our ever changing and growing milkshake list it’s easier to have one menu for them by the till than to keep changing 1 page in the menu each week. Sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
Lastly, just for the readers benefit I’d hate for anyone to think we are serving out of date milk! I apologised and explained to your friend that the milk was dated 21st August and also refrigerated during the day, I can only assume that due to the 40 degree heat in our kitchen it had begun to curdle. I did however, offer a fresh pot of tea and new milk which your friend accepted Again, apologies for this but the issue was rectified immediately along with the other points above.
Overall it seems you had a pleasant experience with us here and hope we see you soon for a chance to improve our score!
Many thanks
Victoria

You won’t be disappointed!
If cake and coffee is your thing, this is the place for you.
I came in to have a quick coffee and look around as this is my local cafe.
I was met by multiple smiling faces and an abundance of fresh cakes, the smell was delightful.
Naked barista coffee is used! Alpro Oat, soya, almond and coconut milk available as well as regular milk.
Vegan and gluten-free options available.
Multiple choices of afternoon teas displayed and a full breakfast menu available from Wednesday!
Beautiful addition to Worthing!
Child and dog friendly.
Well done.

Fantastic place to go for lunch or coffee and cake.
I'm a coeliac and the owners are very clued up on dietary needs, and explained to me that they would wash down all the sides before preparing my lunch, which was amazing. I had cornation chicken on gluten free multi seed bread with vegetable crisps and a side salad. Very clued up on cc which made me feel very safe and relaxed. Would highly recommend if you have a dietary need. Very friendly and couldn't do enough to make me feel comfortable.

I went here today for a friend's birthday, and i can absolutely say that it was wonderful. You get a sandwich of your choice, then a scone with cream and jam, then a slice of cake of your choice and a hot drink for £16.50 each. The staff are cheerful and really kind.

We what to celebrate my MIL special birthday with a lovely, cozy, warm place. with great quality food, but that wasn't snobby or made you feel out of place. And we found it!
Netti the owner was helpful, a thoughtful, assisting us with a pre. order for our afternoon tea for 10 people.
Communication was a little slow to start, (couple of tech issues with messaging on different formats) but once we got that sorted all went smoothly.
We arrived at 11.45am for a surprise entry from the MIL at midday. There was a lovely yellow organza table runner, and Happy Birthday napkins with was a nice touch.
Ans a lovely surprised she had.....
We where bought our drinks by the lovely young ladies serving, who where pelite and helpful.
Followed by our sandwich choices we had pre ordered, and fresh scones clotted cream and jam... The food was simple but well made, full of flavor, and beautifully displayed.
Full filled sandwiches, a few crisps on the side... Perfect!
Scones where light fluffy, and broken in half without falling apart, just as they should.
Then after this we where allowed to choose a slice of cake or tray bake from the cake cabinet.
There was a good selection of cake from chocolate to lemon & raspberry, and a few others too.
I had the chocolate and salted caramel which was really delicious. (I bake myself and this was good cake)
We where there for a full 2 hours grazing and chatting, sipping tea and coffee.
It was very leisurely and relaxed, and everyone said they really enjoy themselves.
My only niggle, but very minor, was that the bin in the loo was rammed with paper towels and needed emptying.
And the toilet and sink could of done with a midday whip round.
But as I said a small niggle, and I am a really stickler for bathroom hygiene. And this didn't over shadow what a lovely experience we had.
Overall very happy with our time spent at the Happy teapot, and would recommend to anyone looking for great food, in a relaxing welcoming environment.
Thank you Netti and Co. For making the Mothering in Laws b.day special.

We were planning for ten of us to go for high tea for my Grandaughters 7th birthday. Just called (4 days before) to say it’s now being refurbished and cancelled it. Seriously unimpressed as we booked weeks in advance and we are now struggling to find a place that does all the allergen free foods they did. Very poor

Hi Ian,
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review.
My name is Netti and I purchased The Happy Teapot at 5pm on Thursday 7th April 2022.
I am saddened to read your one star review, particularly as this is my first review, before even opening!
I have checked through the information provided to me by the previous owner and unfortunately I have no trace of a booking in your name. Whilst I have messaged & been in contact with all other party bookings, I have not made any calls to cancel anyones booking. Additionally my predecessor had clearly advised, anyone that had contacted her with a booking enquiry, of the situation with the imminent business sale and possible closure while we refresh. I am therefore completely perplexed by your claim & subsequent rating.
I wish to extend my personal apologies for the disappointment that this must have caused you but wish to assure you this is not how I intend to look after my customers and trust we can this down to a misunderstanding.
If you would like to contact me personally to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to email me at Hello@thehappyteapot.co.uk
Regards
Netti

We had a lovely breakfast here, in this super cute cafe. The service was so friendly and the breakfast was only £8.50 including a coffee. It was a very relaxing visit and we will definitely go back to try the afternoon tea as the menu looks great.

Booked for 1.30pm but our guests were delayed for half an hour. The staff were absolutely lovely about this. Cream teas, scones and hot drinks were order for 7 of us and it was all delicious. Guests had come from Hastings and Finland, and were very impressed with the cream teas and cakes! Hats off to the staff who were patient and very polite.

What a lovely friendly team, Nettie was very accommodating for our large group.Nettie and her staff gave us a warm welcome, explained what savoury and sweet dishes they would be serving. They had a wide range of options including vegan and dairy free. Nothing was too much trouble, with endless tea and coffee included.
We ate, drank and had a wonderful afternoon. Was a great atmosphere would recommend a visit and will be returning ! 😊

What an absolutely gorgeous tea shop! We had a party for an 80th birthday and the afternoon was delicious. A superb choice of sandwiches on lovely bread, sausage rolls, quiche , scones and cakes! Never ending top ups of tea and coffee and great service. The children were presented with a fabulous tea and also were able to decorate gingerbread. A fantastic setting made even more special by the incredible service. Thank you
