Dropped in for Sunday lunch, when handed the menu was a bit shocked at the prices. Traditional Sunday lunch menu £ 23.95 for 3 course. The food was nothing to shout about and the veg was hard rather than crunchy. Plenty of nice places to eat with good food at more reasonable prices. Won't go back.

We were entertaining family from Scotland over the Easter weekend who travelled back on Sunday after a grand finale! Our pernickety relatives were on a detox diet; not eating carbs; only eating protein (Painful for us)....menu at the Travellers Rest did us proud no complaints and nothing sent back! (By our pernickety relatives - we never send anything back here!)..fab... More

Lovely welcome, the waiter kindly lit our candle on our table as we sat down. Had a lovely bottle of Chardonnay. We ordered garlic bread with cheese to share as a starter that we couldn't finish, really good size portion. We both had fish and chips for our main, what can I say, gorgeous fish!! Piping hot, very succulent and... More

We have been here a few times and always been happy but our latest visit left me feeling that it was overpriced for the food served. I had fish & Chips and quite frankly I have had better fish and larger portions from the local chip shop.. my partners meal looked really nice I have to say, but mine was... More

Dropped in for Sunday Roast and set about the 3 course menu. The presentation was well above standard and service was excellent. Prawn Cocktail above par, but main course was slightly disappointing - obviously pre packed beef and though the roast potatoes appeared to have been deep fried, overall the meal can only be described as satisfactory, contrary to the... Not been for quite a while and whilst remembering it was good this last time surpassed our expectations. The food was really really good . I had the gammon, as usual, and was well satisfied both with quality and with quantity. My wife had the salmon and prawn special which she described as fantastic and one of the best meals... More

I have twice previously reviewed the Travellers Rest. I go there with a male friend while are wives are elsewhere. On previous occasions the food and staff have been excellent. I decided to post this review as I have previously dined in Manchester for lunch and dinner in some top class restaurants and want to make a comparison. I had... More
