Very good quality and large portions. Large cod, haddock and plaice and large chips more than enough for three. Freshly cooked fish whilst we waited. The haddock was larger than the large cod.

I'd had a takeaway from here last December so while staying on Tavistock I'd thought I go back agsin for an 'eat in' meal. I wasn't disappointed, the medium fish was just the right size and a good price. Good to have a top up...More

I visited the cafe yesterday lunchtime with my brother. We were very impressed with the quality of the food served. We both had cod and chips and I could find no fault with the food at all. Its definitely the best cod and chips I...More

Enjoyed a delicious meal of burger and chips followed by chocolate pudding and creamy ice cream. Our waitress Abbie was friendly and helpful. A throughly nice way to spend Friday evening after a hard week at work. Thank you Tavi Friar

Ordered 2 medium cod, 1 large chips and a curry sauce for just over £13. Have visited this establishment many times and has generally been good but not the case this time. There were a few people waiting when I arrived, my order was taken...More

Have had take aways from Tavi Friar on many occasions. The fish is always good, fresh, tasty and with crispy batter. Portions are enormous. Two large portions of chips catered for five of us.

Upon entering this Sunday evening around 6:30pm we found it extremely busy. Not being a local to the area this may be normal but may also be a one off. They appeared to be understaffed as you had one girl taking orders one guy cooking...More

Thank you for your feedback. Last night was quite an odd one for us we took over 40% of our total business in a 30 min spell. It certainly is not a usual occurrence. We also had to replace somebody who was ill at the...More

Bought fish and chips this dinnertime, what a disappointment, batter not cooked through properly, chips very dark don't know whether they needed fresh oil, serving staff in dirty clothing. Have they changed hands since last year? Will not be going there again, seems to have...More

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. I have to say we are somewhat concerned by the issues raised. Our trade has been increasing significantly in the last few months since we appointed a new manager. Part of the success has been...More

We reserved a table for dinner. I can't say that the food is as good as it used to be. They don't offer pea fritters anymore and that was my favorite. The fish is still okay but their best dish now is onion rings.

Yes we do. Our gluten free batter is made from pea husk that is high in fibre and protien. It also looks much the same as traditional batter and as an added bonus it absorbs much less oil.
