Stayed here on Saturday night in room no 3, Large room cozy bed and loved the attention to detail ie charging points in the bedside lamps, boxes of biscuits etc..breakfast was hearty and set me and my husband up for the day. Hosts very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.. Special mention to Archie who worked tirelessly all day. Lovely pub to visit on a quaint shopping street, will return.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and were very impressed with the room. It was light and airy overlooking the street but it was quiet. We had two good nights sleep. Keith and Alison the landlords and their staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome Breakfast was served in the pub and the choice of food was excellent. We had a sandwich for lunch on the day we arrived this was good value and really tasty nice fresh bread and ingredients. Very central to the town and shops all in all a great place to stay. We will definitely book again next year when we will bring our cycles to try out the drakes way.

We ate here last night and were not disappointed. The food was cooked perfectly and was good value for money. The pub also offers a special dining option - a different one each night - which also looked good. I had scampi chips and peas. The scampi was moist and the batter crisp. My husband had the ultimate burger which was really tasty and substantial. The real ale was well-kept with a choice of three: Doombar (£4.20 a pint), Jail (£4.60 a pint) and one other (I can't remember what it was!). This place offers good, honest pub grub and value for money. We will eat here again when we're next in the area.

We fancied a cosy non-posh night out for pub food and that’s just what we got. My husband had lasagna and garlic bread and I had the Cumberland sausages, lovely creamy smooth mash and onion gravy (I turned down the peas, yak!). It was all yum, and the bar team and locals were all very friendly - better still there was Sky football on so we stayed after dinner and watched.

We stayed 4 nights for a family birthday party. The landlord and landlady were very friendly, helpful and informative. The pub and rooms have been renovated by the new tenants to a high standard and the facilities are very good for this type of establishment; our room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower hot and powerful. The beer was excellent and they serve a wide range of spirits and wines. The food is good and the hosts are very amenable to special requests for you meal. This is a town-centre establishment so don't expect moorland views but it is very quiet, especially at night. We would definitely stay again

Enjoyed a lovely bar lunch Oct22. All four enjoyed very filling sarnies with sides and ham, egg n chips, washed down with Jail Ale / Cider. Very friendly staff. Clean. Nice atmosphere. Served very promptly. All tasty local ingredients 👍 Reasonable price. Didn’t realise we’d left our Tavi craft market purchases behind until three days later but they were safely kept behind the bar for us to collect (including a bottle of local rum we expected to be long gone! 😂)

We recommended by Paul at our B&B. We went for a drink on our first visit and were welcomed by friendly Landlord and landlady and staff. We went in on the following 2 nights for food and had the£10 special burger and a pint one night and curry and a pint second night. Food was good and plentiful and the other meals coming out of the kitchen looked good and well worth the money. Good selection of beers and ales at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit

We had a great stay here. Keith and Alison were so friendly. The room was lovely and quiet. The bed comfortable and we've never seen such a clean ensuite. The cooked breakfast was cooked to order and very tasty. There was also fruit, yoghurt and cereals on offer. I couldn't fault it; good value place to go. We would recommend it

Dropped by with some great friends for a social drink. A great decision as it was very welcoming with new management. Great local beer, pricing very good value and hosts that care. Keith, Alison and Archie have some exciting new plans for the pub with new food menus, new accommodation options and special evenings with music and different events. A real buzz about the place and when in Tavistock again, we will be back.

My partner and I visited the Tavistock Inn for his birthday and we were absolutely amazed by the friendly locals, great service, atmosphere and extensive beer selection. This was our first time in the area, and our initial plan was to just pop in for a quick drink, but we had such a brilliant time and ended up staying until closing time! Can't thank everyone enough for their hospitality. The Tavistock Inn is by far the friendliest place in the area and we are very much look forward to visiting again!

Do not ask for tea or coffee. After two rounds of drinks in as family group of 4 we asked politely for a hot drink only to be lectured on where you could get one in Tavistock-23 place’s apparently. This was after innocently engaging the landlord in discussion on beer choices and his pub Millwall paraphernalia only to receive condescending smart ass comments. We are regular visitors to Tavistock and will be surprised to see this owner still in business next year. Next stop, Wetherspoons. Welcoming, inexpensive and endless tea and coffee.

We called in looking for somewhere to stay for 1 night. Jenny and her partner were welcoming and gave us a choice of rooms. We chose their king size room which was recently renovated, spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed and good shower. The rest of the pub was also spotlessly clean. Breakfast was traditional full English, freshly cooked at our convenience. We would stay there again.

A very traditional and friendly pub/ Hotel. The owners are extremely accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the breakfast is freshly cooked to order. An excellent place to stay if you are in the Tavistock area.

Very dog friendly and homely pub in the centre of Tavistock. Great selection of beers within a very much literary and cosy atmosphere. Books and theatrical pictures are abound with very cosy sofas to enjoy a beer or two in a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended for a pit stop if you're in the area shopping...

Having booked a room for my self and my wife via Booking.com and having phoned the property two weeks before regarding our stay we were not impressed to find the pub/hotel shut on our arrival and being informed it had been shut for 5 days due to a 'major issue'. No comms from Booking.com or the pub/hotel to advise us which left us to scrabble around to find other accomodation. Suggest you double check with the property as Booking.com were not even aware of the situation until we called them. It's still available on their website but is closed for"the foreseeable future" according to the FB page of the pub. Beware!
