About
Big buckets of prawns, juicy steaks, fish dishes and breakfast buffets, ice creams, teas, coffees and even our own brand of locally brewed beer, the Winking Prawn’s style of shabby chic beach restaurant and cafe has been enjoying life at North Sands in Salcombe for more than 20 years. Sandy toes and salty paws are welcome come rain or shine for breakfast, lunch and dinner (but don’t forget to book in the evenings and keep an eye out for seasonal opening times). In the summer we also have a barbecue in the garden to enjoy as the sun goes down, and our dressing up box is legendary for bringing out your inner pirate, mermaid or fairy princess no matter how old you are. Opening times are seasonal,

It’s been many years since we were last at the Winking Prawn but I’m pleased to say it’s still great. It has maintained its fun atmosphere, lovely food with good staff, somewhere to take the whole family

Really lovely place to eat with a gorgeous view. Also dog friendly which is really handy with the beach just outside.

Pups and me had a lovely time on the beach and then had lunch at the Winking Prawn, in the January sun. My mackerel was superb and the sausage for the pups was too kind. What a lovely place supported by a team of kind...More

A great good value place to stop for a lunch especially after a walk round Bolts Head. Crab on baguette was excellent and enjoyed by bottle of prawn juice (beer). Lovely and warm even in the covered extension.

Visited many times over many years. During the summer there are many tables outside together with a BBQ. There is parking but most people staying in Salcombe walk there.
