We visited on a Sunday evening as we were just visiting the area and staying overnight I booked on line in the morning. We were greeted and sat immediately on arrival and orders taken once drinks were served. We took an antipasti platter for 2 and the calamari to start (both yummy) I had duck (cooked pink as it should be) and hubby had sea bass with mussels and prawns for mains. We shared a panna cotta for desert, washed down with a limoncello shot each.....all stunning! Everything was promptly served, hot and downright delicious. The staff were lovely and left you to get on with your meal which was nice (I hate being pestered by staff asking if everything Is OK every whipstitch!) All in all a lovely evening out at a reasonable price.

We were staying in the area and flicked through the trip advisor reviews and went for Avellino’s. We were met with a warm welcome, and although it was early evening there were several tables in use. I had a lovely bruschetta fungi to start, followed by a brilliantly cooked steak & dolcelatte sauce. My wife had breaded mushrooms followed by cannelloni, both of which were well cooked and my daughter had a children’s lasagne, again cooked nicely. The meal, including drinks came to under £80 which felt like good value. All in all a great restaurant, and would definitely return.

Booked in advance for a table for two, upon arrival we found that our table was extremely close (not even one metre) to the table next door, this was a bad start to our meal as we were extremely conscious about distancing so moved the table over slightly so we could enjoy our food with ease. The waiter was not happy that we had done this as he was trying to place another party next to us which would have been too close as there was also a table of 3 about a metre to the other side of us, also no masks or face shields were worn by staff. However all 3 courses we had were excellent and very enjoyable, just a shame that the Guinness was in a bottle and not on draught which wasn't stated on the menu. Would recommend to friends for take out.

We were having a pleasant meal and the food was excellent and there were several couples in the restaurant quietly enjoying their meals when the restaurant manager allowed a horde of drunken men, a total of 10 to take the table behind us. Immediately several couples left the restaurant and we were not far behind. The noise level was so high that we could not hear ourselves speak, or hear the music and retain the ambience that we had expected and received earlier on in the evening. we mentioned this to the manager and he proceeded to go and talk to the table and pointed at us and they all sniggered. They then started to swear at the table and it became unpleasant and so we left along with all the other couples. We will never return which is a shame, as the chef must pride himself in his good food and the girls waiting on us were very sweet. The key issue here is that it appears the manager would rather have his friends in (a rowdy group of drunken men) than a respected couple who have eaten there before and other couples who were eating and expecting a nice evening. Very poor management skills And they chatted and pointed at us in Italian, not knowing that my cousin speaks fluent Italian. So she made it known as she left and asked for the bill in their own language. They looked shocked as we left.

Tonight was our third time in Avellino,. We specifically went out of our way to return to this restaurant on our way back to Yorkshire because we had enjoyed it previously. The first time a while ago was great, 2nd time was average but 3rd time it was a total disappointment. We are avid restaurant goers and never have been totally ignored like we were. We felt like we were totally invisible. After ordering a gin and tonic whilst we had to wait for a table standing by the door, the starters came too fast, but then nothing happened for over an hour while we sat there seeing costumers that arrived later us being served with starters and mains. We finished our bottle of wine while waiting and the waiter even took the empty bottle away and didn’t even bother to ask whether we wanted at least another drink or anything else. Finally we decided to ask the manager about our main courses and he went down to the kitchen and within 10’ produced raw sea bass and a soupy risotto with no fish in it at all and was expecting for us to eat it. When we brought to his attention the poor quality of the food, he offered to try again. However, it was nearly 10pm by then so we decided to leave disappointed and hungry after we paid for our starters and drinks. So disappointing when a restaurant over stretches itself and can’t cope so our Avellino’s experience is over and is such a shame.

A family of four, we visited on a Bank Holiday Saturday lunchtime, without a booking - the restaurant was very quiet (not usually a good sign!) and we were quickly assigned a table. Menus were quickly provided - our table was talking so much it took a little time for us to make our choices from the varied menu...however, once we did, the drinks appeared very quickly and the food followed quite quickly after that. We were all very pleased with food - VERY hot and tasty. The Avellino was a good choice!

Very little distancing between tables and feel they probably haven't made any changes other than putting hand sanitiser in a couple of places. We were served by more than one member of staff, none of which wore masks and leaned over the table several times. However, food is exceptional.

Twice visited during our stay here, always met with sincere ‘team welcome, quickly seated, drink order taken, menu given, drinks and food arrived, food steaming hot in record speed. Distantly attentive staff, nothing too much trouble, courteous and consistent both visits. Food exceptional, prices reflect this. Highly recommended, brightened up the visit to a ‘tired town’!

Been here before as we live local. We were greeted and sat at our table by the friendly efficient staff. The menu is extensive and the food didn't disappoint. The scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly, the spaghetti carbonara was a delight. This can often be a scrambled egg disaster but it was silky smoothly and tasty with lots of pancetta. Wine was good too. No puddings as too full but did have some nightcaps. Followed by a complimentary Lemoncelllo 🍋. My only criticism and the reason it's not a 5 is the bottled beer works out very expensive. So some draft lagers are needed. But would still highly recommended 👌

A little disappointing. I ordered the Risotto Verde and it came with literally three garden peas and one very small brocolli floret. Whilst the rice and sauce was lovely it didn’t match the description on the menu. We also waited a very long time for our food and I think we had been forgotten as one if the waiters came and asked what we had ordered and the food then arrived 15 mins or so later. Food tasted good but not the best experience on this occasion.

Our recent stay in Bristol has been wonderful…One day we decided to move nearby the “Wye” river and Avellino restaurant left us breathtaking. Between the various specialties I appreciated mostly the branzino which was served with some fresh grilled seasonal vegetables. My husband which has Italian origin told me that the pizza remind him his youth in Italy. The staff was really kindly and the main important thing is that they had some basics knowledge regarding Italian cuisine

What a wonderful find ! This authentic, family run Italian restaurant is surprisingly long, spacious and beautifully decorated inside - the exterior shots on the internet really do not do it justice. The food is absolutely delicious, and obviously cooked from the heart, like all real Italian food should be ! ( It really does kick all those inter-changeable chains in to touch!!) The staff are so friendly and extremely polite and helpful. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Great first visit for dinner…pizza was vey nice and therefore the Calzone must be good as well. Mains were great, Bolognese, Spaghetti Avalino and Osobucco were all very good…The tap water was chilled and the service was good. Opportunities: as it’s called Avelino’s reference the town by selling products from there: Tuarasi, Greco de Tufo and Falanghina wines; Tirali biscuits, etc (exscuse the spelling). Prices were also reasonable. Staff were nice, place was nice, food was nice…definitely will go there again.

A well presented and welcoming restaurant from the moment you step in until the time you leave. Dinner was booked for 530pm with knowledge you can have the table for up to 2 hours. I dropped a star because as we were sat we were told we could have the table for 90mins as they had a 'big group' coming in later. Every customer should be treated equally whatever the size of their party Anyway the food: Sharing platter of antipasti. Plentiful with good choices. Mains - I had the pan fried duck with saffron mash and veg. Very nice and recommended. My wife had chicken risotto - again very nice. A lot of food and no space for dessert. Oh, we didn't need the 2 hours to dine so I'm just making a point. I would recommend this very good Italian restaurant to all.

Thanks to the owner and staff, Laura & Sylwia absolute credit not to mention the cheff .
