Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great traditional pub full of locals. Very friendly reception at the bar and a great pint of Tiger. Only had a sandwich but looking at the meals others were enjoying they looked very good. Many local customers were leaving big tips which is a good...sign. This place is how pubs should beMore

Having read the previous review ("Don't bother with Sunday lunch"), as the person who booked the table and whose Birthday it was, I would like give my own comments. Firstly , the table for ten was nicely laid out in a perfect position near the...bar and a lovely warm open fire All the staff were friendly , polite & efficient. Our food arrived exactly on time and was found to be hot, plentiful and delicious. The staff made a lovely job in presenting my Birthday cake and provided plates &cutlery for a bought in item. It seems everyone enjoyed the meal except a very small minority. We will definitely re - book and there will be eight invited not ten. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WHEATSHEAF! and by the way , the "Old Original " Ale was superb!More

We visited on a Friday evening. The Wheatsheaf is a bustling place and I was glad that I had booked a table. The atmosphere was very good with an excellent playlist playing in the background. The greeting was very friendly, especially considering how busy the...staff were. The menu was varied without being too much. The gluten free options were very good. The service was friendly, attentive, but not intrusive, striking just the right tone. The food was excellent quality, well presented and very tasty. Though, not intending to, we both had three courses because the food was so good. We had a very nice evening and wouldn't hesitate to return.More

Real old world pub as pubs used to be. We had steak pie and chips and sirloin steak and chips. Best sirloin for a long time and the steak pie was so tasty and homemade. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Would have gone back the...next night but weather was a little too wild even though public car park which is free from 1800 was right across the streetMore

Once again, a smashing day out at The Wheatsheaf. It was our son's 40th and a dozen of us met up for a few drinks and a meal. Kerry could not have been more welcoming - she is the epitome of good customer service; nothing...is too much trouble, always has a smile on her face and contributed so much to our impromptu get-together. And - by the way - you absolutely must try the home-made quiche. I've never tasted anything like it - out of this world. Thanks to Kerry, her husband and to Sophie for a superb day.More

This pub is a little gem we have always walked past for no good reason. And boy, have we been missing out. Fabulous, friendly service from Landlady Kerry and staff. Excellent food, we had the homemade chicken curry, chicken & bacon pie and apple crumbles...with custard. Homely look and feel with log burning fires. Winged back chairs, cosy, comfortable and super outside garden - we can't wait for Summer!! Friendly locals too. We've found our new local. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointedMore

There isn’t a pub car park, however there is a pay and display car park directly opposite from the pub. There are usually spaces and it’s free from 6pm until 8am and all day sundays and bank holidays.
