This very old pub has had a succession of landlords who seem to have been lured in to the licensed trade by enterprise Inns salespeople and quickly found they were unsuited to the business and totally unable to pay their very high rent. Eventually and...More

I apologise for a bad review in April, but this was when it was under temporary usage by another restaurant owner. That was a disaster. Thankfully this is under new ownership now, and my favourite pub is as good as it was in the 1990's....More

Terrible food. The sirloin steak was so tough it was inedible. Mussels were nicely steamed, but the sauce was bland and very thin - no flavour. The assiette of desserts were a joke, the chocolate tart was old and dry and the banoffee pie would...More

Well, living near by I really hoped this jinxed pub might finally become a quality local........ after a few short months it already closed down again. On my two visits, it was deserted, and the real ales were off. The new owners had aspirations for...More

We stopped here for lunch after a long walk with our dog. The food was of a very high standard, all freshly prepared and well presented. Lovely open cosy fireplace in the sofa seating area!
