Following a sad interlude when this location went from being the best fish and chip shop in Kirkley to the worst; normal quality and service has now been resumed by the new owners. The shop is spotless and has been given a much needed facelift. I had two portions of cod and chips and the fish was really fresh and well-cooked while the chips were excellent. Great to see the new owners making the efforts, I wish them every success.

How exciting to see that the restaurant and take away has been bought by owners who really know how to look after their customers to such a high standard! It was a delight to eat there. Nothing was too much trouble and the owners were friendly and inviting. Just what you need on holiday, I think the locals are very lucky! Will definitely go back Thank you!

Easily the new best chippy in Lowestoft this!! We visited as a family of 5 fairly late on Monday night. Nothing was too much trouble. The lady serving was friendly, polite and attentive. The person frying, I believe was the owner, came to see everything was ok a couple of times and seemed a lovely genuine person. We all had fish, chips and a side (4 haddock, 1 cod). It was hands down the best I’ve ever had. It was so refreshing to find somewhere that actually cooks a piece of fish long enough to give it a deep golden colour and for the batter to remain crisp while you’re eating, even when you put salt and vinegar on. The fish had a lovely flavour, beautiful batter and couldn’t be faulted. The chips were equally great, a small amount of grease, a little bit soggy, a little bit crispy...just perfect really! I visited with my brothers family who are on holiday here, but we live locally so will definitely be visiting again (and again!!) and this is certainly our go to chippy from now on. We’ve recommended it to my parents as well who are hoping to visit next week. Thank you to all the staff for an absolutely brilliantly meal and as fairly new owners to the place we truly hope you are there for many many years to come. (My only regret is I forgot to take a photo to put on the review!!) Thank you

I visit this place every week and it just keeps getting better & better! The NEW owners are friendly, genuinely interested in what you have to say and also cook the best fish & chips in Lowestoft, if not Suffolk. Everything is fresh, tasty and hot. The restaurant is newly decorated and looks fantastic. Well done guys, all the best to you!

What a lovely fish & chip shop. Very modern in decoration inside, was really inviting to come and eat inside the first week of being allowed after Covid. Table service was excellent, husband & wife very attentive and food cooked fresh to order. Loved the lemon sole & chips whilst husband had cod roe, battered sausage and chips - delicious. Excellent value for money. Toilets lovely clean and modern - was a little treasure to find one street back from the sea front

We really enjoyed our fish and chips. The fish was fresh, the batter light and crispy and the chips were absolutely delicious. We would definitely recommend. Friendly and efficient service with a smile. We dined inside which was lovely. *****

A good quality traditional British chippy. Efficient friendly staff who obviously enjoyed their job, this is a rare thing and a joy to behold, and it makes all the difference. Our fish was cook fresh whilst we waited, and we took it down to the seafront and enjoyed it. If you find yourself in Lowestoft the Chippy is the chippy you should choose.

Myself and my husband ate in their restaurant this evening which was exceptionally clean and the layout made us feel really safe. The staff were so polite and kind. The food was wonderful; I don’t eat meat and the fact that I could have my food cooked in vegetable oil, whilst my husband chose to have traditional dripping was great as usually when visiting coastal towns I can’t usually eat fish & chips due to only cooking in dripping. The take away and restaurant have clearly just been renovated to a modern standard making it an extra pleasure to eat there. We wish them all the very best for the future!

We popped in on a Tuesday lunchtime, we were greeted by friendly staff who pushed two tables together for our family group. The staff were great, the food was spot on, freshly cooked, brought to the table very quickly with a minimum of fuss. There were clean plates all round. I can recommend unreservedly.

Visiting Lowestoft after a trip to the Transport Museum we walked along the promenade whilst we were looking for somewhere to buy chips. Checking each place we passed on Trip Advisor most reviews were mediocre. We saw someone sitting on a bench eating fish and chips and asked if they were any good. He said they were great and sent us to The Chippy. After checking the reviews we headed there. What a lovely welcome into a clean, bright and freshly decorated chip shop with a very attractive eat in space next door. We only had chips and beans and chips and curry sauce as we were having dinner out later but the chips were perfect. People having full meals of fish and chips seemed to be enjoying their food as much as we did. We would not hesitate to return and would recommend The Chippy to anyone looking for a lovely meal and good service. The young man and young lady who looked after us were brilliant. We met the owners as we left and they were very friendly too. The locals are very lucky to have this place to use.

Ate here twice during our break in Lowestoft. Very clean, good Covid-19 safety measures in place. Friendly staff and delicious fish and chips. They were also part of Eat Out to Help Out scheme which was pretty amazing for a small business to take part in.

We smelt this chippy while we wandered round the local shops on a day out to Lowestoft. The smell of the beef dripping cooking was too much to turn down so we turned around and grabbed 6 portions to munch along the sea wall, while avoiding the amazingly well behaved seagulls!! Whole family agreed probably some of the most delicious chips weve ever had! Owner and staff all really friendly and gave us some good local chat while we waited, will def be going back and sit in next time, have the full fish and chip experience......or maybe try one of the infamous local suffolk sausages! 😃

Several moths ago I wrote a revue of The Chippy in which I complained of tepid chips, to their credit they replied and invited me back however I didn't take up the offer. Tonight 19th January I thought I would give them another try. The fish was cooked to order and was fine but I heard the young lady behind the counter tell the owner/chef they needed more chips as a telephone order had come in but that there were enough for the present order, obviously my order. That should have set the alarm bells ringing but I didn't check the chips when I got back in my car. I was home within five minutes and wasn't too surprised when I opened the chips, they were just about tepid again, although the fish was fine. These chips had obviously been hanging about for a good while and of course although one cannot expect individual portions of chips to be cooked to order what is rather annoying is that they must have known how old the chips were. why couldn't they have put the chips back in the oil for a few moments to reheat them, it's not difficult surely . I note others have left favourable reviews but in all honestly I really don't think chips that are not hot and which spoilt my meal on two occasions is acceptable. I'm sorry to leave a bad review but the owners do ask for feedback so here it is. I really would not recommend The Chippy.

Very friendly servers, nice, bright cheery restaurant. Cod, chips and mushy peas delicious with crispy batter and perfect chips. Not too keen on a burger roll personally, I prefer bread and butter or a roll from a bakery rather than a supermarket but that’s my opinion.
