The Mardle Cafe comes highly recommended for its cozy and inviting atmosphere, with guests often applauding the lovely decor and welcoming environment. While most patrons commend the attentive and friendly service, a handful have noted slower service at times. We visited late morning. Just managed to get a table as vast majority were booked out and reserved . I suppose there is a fine line with keeping customers satisfied and still being a walk- in cafe and I do get that . It possibly reduces the atmosphere however as loads of empty tables around you due to booking times. Food is delicious , sausage roll , cheese scone and poached eggs all very tasty and no complaints there . My one and only gripe is the fact it doesn’t take card payments and this is not clearly advertised except a sign on the till . No sign on door and nobody mentioned it to us when they got us a table . This is really key in this day and age - everywhere needs yo take card payments now especially when the nearest is approx 2-3 miles away as none in village

The Mardle recently catered for my dads wake and the service was outstanding. They delivered 32 individual boxes with both a savory and sweet selection of an afternoon tea. Everyone at the wake was amazed at the amount and the quality. They also did a vegetarian option. They were very pleasant and punctual and they helped us out at a very difficult time. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Thankyou so much Mardle.

We stayed with friends for a week at this lovely hotel. It is adult only and the accommodation is excellent. We had a very friendly greeting on arrival from Louise and later a chat with Jason who are the proprietors. Our room was lovely, overlooking the patio area. A nice touch was the early morning delivery of fresh orange, milk, muffins and cookies! The breakfast menu was very good. There were two comfortable lounges and a great indoor swimming pool. Although no evening dining we did have a marvellous afternoon tea which was all home made. It was one of the very few places that we were made to feel at home. All the staff were lovely and cleanliness was excellent. We would not hesitate to stay here again if visiting this part of the country.

I’ve visited this cafe for years & had several take away afternoon tea’s which have been exceptional, however I ordered four afternoon tea’s ( 2 for £25 ) today because I wanted to try out the new owners teas, however I was very disappointed, the sizes were smaller & the quality was poor, sandwiches had spread & not butter on them, sausage rolls, cheese scones, mini quiche ( used to be so cheesy ) were nothing special, then the flapjack, Victoria sponge & brownies ok. Sadly the fruit scones were rock hard which came with jam & a tiny amount of cream which was not enough to go round four of us! There were no mini desserts either which we used to get & were delicious! My cousin tried afternoon teas here three weeks ago & she mentioned how poor it was with the same issues as myself. I’m sorry to give a poor review but felt I needed to give honest feedback, but it wasn’t worth the £50 for four people I’m afraid.

I have visited this place several times with relatives, & have found the food quality & service a bit hit & miss. Most of the time food is great (cake can occasionally be a bit dry & portion size varies). One thing that does concern me is that the ladies serving are always wearing nail polish & fake nails. Clearly food hygiene training has not been done, as it is well known that this is a no-no with in the catering industry.

Oh my goodness we went here for afternoon tea, there were seven of us celebrating my mother in law’s 80th birthday. The food was amazing, the cakes were so delicious, the service was excellent, we couldn’t eat it all, so it was boxed up and brought home. I will definitely be going back there and will recommend it to friends and family.

Had afternoon tea for 3 people as collection service. The food was brilliant really tasty home cooked not the fancy small cakes as in some afternoon teas but who would not prefer a slab of gorgeous Victoria sponge. Would definitely have this again and recommend can’t wait to visit my mum again so we can have this again. Thanks staff at Mardle Cafe

Visited the Mardle for a birthday lunch for my mother-in-law, we both went for a panini and they were absolutely delicious served with a lovely fresh side salad and homemade slaw. The portion sizes were really generous too. This quaint little cafe has a lovely cosy feeling and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome - thank you and can’t wait to come back to try more of the menu!

After visiting a number of times in the past for afternoon tea or just a slice of cake and a cuppa, we decided today to try the cooked breakfasts and I must say, it was absolutely delicious. It was all hot and freshly made for us and each thing on the plate tasted fantastic. I seriously cannot recommend this cafe enough. The staff are all very pleasant and very hospitable and even offered to make my toddler something and made a fuss of him too which he loved. A**** 10000% recommend to anyone and everyone

Where do I even begin? The Mardle is my absolute favourite place to go! I have visited a number of times over the last few months and it's been fantastic every time. I booked an afternoon tea for two as a treat for my mum on her birthday and they couldn't have been more accommodating if they have tried, reserving a table for us and regularly popping over to ask if we wanted any free top ups of tea and coffee.. they were also fantastic with my one year old and had all the facilities needed for little ones which is great. The food everytime I have been is delicious and knowing its all homemade in the cafe that morning just made it even better. They are all so hospitable and did everything possible to make all of my visits pleasant. I honestly couldn't recommend it more if I tried.. the staff are absolutely lovely and the decor is so pretty 10/10 A****

Used to visit under previous owners, now under new ownership so visited to see if anything had changed. What a disappointment. Ordered tea, both waitresses had no idea if they had an earl grey option. Tea served in a tiny pot, enough for two small cups. Not particularly hot. One cup had a dirty tide mark. Ordered two sultana scones. They were under the lamp in the heating cabinet. Top of scone very dark brown and dry. Served with a blob of butter and a blob of cheap jam. No prices on menu or wall of cafe so had no idea of the price of the scone. Didn't want to complain as had only been open three weeks. Charged £3.60 for each small burnt scone. Two teas and two scones £11.80. Feel that the prices were expensive as service was slow and food / drink quality very poor. Won't be returning which is sad as I used to love going there.

After having a take away afternoon tea in the summer of 2020 I was very impressed with the selection so roll on to Feb this year and I at last managed to make it to the cafe for an afternoon tea with family. Great selection of sandwiches, savouries and sweet treats. Friendly staff. Lovely quaint tea room. Would highly recommend.

I ordered a cake to be made from the Mardle Café for a birthday and it was a pleasant experience no issues and very willing to cater for this. I collected the cake it tasted amazing and the birthday girl really enjoyed it too! Will be coming back. :)
