My husband and I visited on a Friday evening and the restaurant was busy. Waiting staff were lovely, very chatty and knowledgable. We shared a cheese starter which was tasty and light, but the highlight of the meal was the local mutton - melt in...More

This place rightly gets great reviews. If you're looking for a smarter meal out this is a good choice. It's less than £10 for a taxi out of Kirkwall each way but worth it for a special meal. You will need to book in advance...More

Reviews were so good we tried this one evening during our stay at Lynnfield. Restaurant has good setting overlooking Scapa Flow -although clouds were low and misty when we went so we did not benefit from views. Restaurant is part of modern, rather soulless building...More

Went here for our main meal out while in Orkney for a week after being recommended it by a friend. Lived up to expectation. Everything was excellent, including the service. But we had, by far, the best dessert I've ever tasted.

We found this on TripAdvisor and went with the fact that it was highly rated. Having enjoyed a wonderful meal, I understand why it is rated so highly. It is owned and operated by the chef, which explains why the focus is on high quality...More

If a weekend night preferred, probably a week/2 weeks in advance especially during the summer months. For a evening during the week, a few days in advance.

At the Foveran, you can enjoy the finest Orkney produce in a relaxed and comfortable setting with stunning views across historic Scapa Flow.
Superb seafood features strongly on our menu along with prime beef and lamb. We work closely with local livestock farmers, fishermen and growers to select the best seasonal produce for our larder ensuring we obtain the highest quality. We strive to create dishes from the freshest, local ingredients. As well as supporting local producers, we are keen to retain Orkney's culinary traditions. We bake our own bread daily including 'bere bunno' or bannock (a traditional flat bread) using stone-ground beremeal flour from the Barony Mill.
We also offer a wide range of carefully selected wines, liqueurs, local ales and malts. These can be enjoyed at your table, or in the more relaxed setting of the lounge.
We're really proud to have been four times winner of the Orkney Food and Drink 'best evening meal' award and the first 'Orkney Masterchef 2014 title.
We look forward to offering you a memorable Orcadian experience.
