Darling Darlings Cat Lounge offers a retro-chic haven that is a hit with cat lovers, as guests have called out the cozy atmosphere and the nostalgic decor. The resident cats, alongside the staff's warm hospitality, contribute to a delightful ambiance, though opinions on the food vary—some find it average and not justifying the price, while others commend its homemade deliciousness. For many travelers, the joy of interacting with the cats and the overall charm of the cafe provides value that outweighs any concerns about the cost of the cuisine.

This is a great little cafe. The cats are adorable and friendly as are the staff who make you feel welcome and chat to you. I have read the other reviews on here. Other cat cafes can be impersonal and charge far more just for entry than it will cost to get a generous slice of cake, a cup of tea AND entry here. Great value. DDCL also raise money for charities. Will return as often as I can.

Since seeing a program on Japan ( James May: Our Man In Japan ) and seeing the cat cafe there, she has been obsessed about going to Japan to go to one! Not easy at the moment (or cheap!) so a quick Google to see if there were any in the UK and surprised to see there was one in Gt Yarmouth which is about 40min drive from us. Result! So booked up a slot as soon as possible, and didn't tell her, just said we were going to Yarmouth for the day - the look of "do we have to" to surprise on her face when I stood outside and said I fancy a coffee shall we go in this cafe and then she saw the cats was brilliant. So at present due to Covid the owners allow only your booked bubble in for your 45 minute slot, which allows them time to clean. In our case it was just the 2 of us and we started with a quick read through of the ground rules which were straight forward. There is a small fee per person and the menu is shown on their website and nothing is very expensive. The cafe is also decorated with quite a lot of retro items (one being a Raleigh Chopper!). So a quick order of pancakes, juice and a milk shake and it was time to be introduced to the cats. The owners as stated in other reviews were very friendly and gave lots of info about each cat and their personality. My daughter was in cat heaven and enjoyed are 45 minutes immensely. Stanley was the most playful so she enjoyed playing with him, and her favourite was the Sphinx cat which she had never seen before (If the owners read this, what was the Sphinx cats name, we couldn't remember). Coconut had had an accident so has 3 legs, and due to vets visit the day before Teddy was a little sleepy. So a very enjoyable visit and my daughter loved it and wants to return!

Darling darlings cat lounge was a fantastic experience. We got there at lunch time, not too many people are allowed within the café at the same time which gives a chance for everyone to spend some time with the cats. The ladies owning the café are amazing at catering and chatting with the guests, explaining the café’s history and answering guests’ questions. The cats are very sociable and cuddly. My partner and I had a great time !

The best way to lower your blood pressure that I can think of. The cats here really are adorable. I’ve never met such a bunch of gentle, contented and thoroughly spoilt puss cats in my life. There are really well looked after here. My favourite thing about this place is that the residents are all therapy cats! Cutest concept ever! One shouldn’t have favourites but when I met Maverick, swaddled in his pram, just blinking at me with his ENORMOUS blue eyes, my heart was liquid. The decor here is great fun. There’s retro stuff everywhere, the wallpaper is super! There’s also tons of cool stuff for the kitties to amuse themselves with. The staff are really good. Excellent introductions to all the cats were given and everyone was very keen to make sure you are enjoying yourself. We had tasty brownies, which were warmed and served with whipped cream, tea and coffee. It’s a great value, memorable and charming way to spend your time and `I’ll be recommending it to all of my friends and family. Well done my darlings!

Beautiful cats but dry overpriced cakes from packets. We wanted to love this place, and understand that the cats are the main attraction, but we paid £20 for 2 teas and 2 cakes (Bakewell tart and a muffin) which felt unreasonable as they were very dry and plain. The cats were lovely and the decor is really fun, great for a cat lover but not if you also want some decent food to enjoy whilst you're there

We are sorry you felt this way but if you have a look we sell a lot of cakes, most home made, and some pre packaged to suit all needs. We also do a huge range of savouries and sandwiches which are all very good value for money. If you were not happy with what you had been provided you should have said at the time and we would have happily served you something more to a better taste. The items you had yes were pre packaged so luckily we can say this was not what we made. I have looked back on your order when you came in and have noted there was nothing left. I can only apologise. At least we are the cheapest cat cafe around and you didn’t over pay. But thank you for your review none the less :)

Visited this gem of a place with my husband (we're both massive cat lovers) and thoroughly enjoyed the hour we spent there. Nobody could visit Darling Darlings and not fall in love with Teddy, Coconut, Stanley and Maverick, all adorable boys with sweet, friendly personalities. Loved all the vintage décor which has obviously been carefully thought out and evoked many childhood memories for both of us. We both had a delicious, generously filled sandwich each and amazing milkshakes. As a type 1 diabetic I was particularly impressed by the selection of sugar free syrups available, something you don't very often find in other cafés. My husband had a slice of salted caramel cheesecake which he was surprised to learn was actually vegan. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming, professional and very knowledgeable about the cats and were more than happy to chat. Highly recommended for any fans of cats, good food and a great atmosphere!

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we adore cats and booked in (booking necessary during pandemic). We were greeted by one of the owners who informed us of the house rules, they were about keeping us and the cats safe. We were then let into the cat lounge and it was fantastic. There were lots of cats all with different personalities, but what they had in common was they were all very tame and friendly. There were savoury and sweet treats on the menu, as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks. We opted of Cornish pasty’s, and the children had chocolate brownies and waffles. The food and drink was lovely. The cats were very well behaved while we ate, and were not interested in the food. This was a memorable afternoon and I will visit again when I am in the area. The owners were lovely and so welcoming A cosy little cat heaven.

My children were very excited at the idea of cats being at a cafe - we have 3 cats at home and they really wanted to try this place out. My partner booked and was charged £11 before we even got there. Upon arrival we were met by a gentleman who ran through a few rules and all seemed well. But the first disappointment was when the food arrived. My daughter ordered pancakes and it was just supermarket pancakes out of a packet but at a hefty price, my partner and other daughter had a waffle each which were overdone and just not worth the cost. Staff hovered over us whilst we were eating, the cats were guarded by the staff so you felt uneasy about going over to interact with them. Your not allowed to pick the cats up and you are only allowed to pet there heads and part way down there backs. When a cat did actually come up to the table a member of staff kept picking it up and taking it away again. When we got up to explore the cafe we constantly felt in the way as staff were walking through to deliver food, take orders etc. The place is perhaps a little narrow in places. A gentleman member of staff announced everyone had 5 minutes until the end of session, We all felt rushed over to pay. He was asking the woman on the till if certain tables had paid before letting them out (you are locked in the cafe, and they hold onto the key) I found him asking infront of everyone if others tables had paid or not rather rude. My daughter wanted to buy some items but hadn't seen there was a small sign on there saying not to remove them (she is a child afterall) the lady behind the till said 'can you not take them off the board, there is a sign saying not to remove them' but there's signs all over the place and we were being rushed to pay and to get out! All in all we didn't find this a pleasant experience. The food food was overpriced, little interaction allowed with the cats (which we paid £11 for) we felt rushed and in the way from start to finish. I don't think there should be an £11 fee to just enter the cafe. There aren't that many cats and interaction is minimal. The food standard should also be better for the price. We spent a grand total of £56 in there but did not have a pleasant experience. Not worth the money.

My other half and I are down on holiday in Caister, and being huge cat fans my mother booked us in to visit this cat lounge. When we got there, the hosts were as lovely as could be. We saw them cleaning everything up to standard after the previous visitors left, and they let us take our time as we sanitised ourselves and read the rules. The hosts were absolutely lovely and the friendliest people, we loved speaking to them. The environment was beautiful and calm, and a very nice atmosphere to just sit and relax with the cats there. I know people may be disappointed there is only a few cats, and not two dozens like bigger corporate brands, but the atmosphere created in the cozy business is unlike any other. It’s very nice for couples, or to go on your own if you’re visiting the area. The cats are as sweet as can be, they have lovely and amusing merchandise for sale (We bought several pins ourselves), and the hospitality was faultless💞

We travelled almost two hours for a visit to this cafe specifically and we was not disappointed. The cats were absolutely adorable, the decor was like revisiting my childhood and the milkshakes were delicious. Would highly recommend the chocolate coffee shake 😋 To top it all off the staff were super friendly and attentive. Thank you all for a fabulous experience and hopefully we’ll be back! I’m sure the kids will be insistent on that! Haha.

The retro decor is amazing and it’s an enjoyable environment to explore and see the cats. They are very Covid aware and it is still compulsory to wear masks. As somewhere to spend an hour on a wet weekend and interact with the cats over a cuppa, it’s good. The cats are all gorgeous. I would however, recommend eating elsewhere. At best, the food is very average. I paid £4.50 for baked potato in a jam jar with a spoon of beans on it!? Food doesn’t need to be novelty, it just needs to taste good. Once the teaspoon of beans (or cheese) has gone from the top then the rest is plain potato which isn’t enjoyable.

After travelling all the way from Scotland for a special family birthday, my partner and I were thrilled to find that there was a cat cafe ! We have been to many in the UK and quite a few internationally and this was one of our most favourite ones. Yes they might not be “jam packed” with cats (4 if I remember correctly) but true cat lovers appreciate how happy the cats are and how well they are looked after. And these rescue cats are gorgeous and wonderfully tempered. You can see the love for these cats and I don’t think I’ve ever come across more pleasant and attentive staff. The decor of the cafe is worth the visit alone. So quirky and interesting- quite possibly the only time I’ve been just as interested (if not more) in looking around the decor than petting the furry friends. Quirky menu as well - had a Pepsi float and a jar of mash potato (random) but it really was right up my street! My only suggestion (maybe it was there and I just didn’t see it) would be to have a wee leaflet or printout with all the cats details on it. The staff were fantastic and told us all about them before we came in…. But by the time I’d sat down I’d forgotten all their names and personalities!! But it didn’t really matter, if you know how to behave around a cat, you really should have no bother Thank you for a wonderful time - highlight of my trip to Great Yarmouth xx

What a perfect way to spend a couple of hours with friends. We had pre-ordered Afternoon Tea (a very easy process) and enjoyed every minute of our experience. We re-lived our childhood looking at the decor, the food was fresh and delicious, the staff were welcoming, friendly and lovely to chat to and the cats were definitely the highlight. The cats are clearly happy and comfortable in their setting and charmed us with their personalities. Will definitely be making a return visit. Thank you.

I visited today for the first time with two of my friends and we all had a brilliant time from start to finish. The decor was wonderful with bright colours on the walls and fun theming throughout the whole of the cafe. The owner and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff went above and beyond to cater for dietary preferences, intolerances and allergens, with multiple alternative milks available for hot drinks and milkshakes. The vanilla milkshake that I had was absolutely delicious! There are 5 cats in total - 2 of which are Sphinx cats. The cats are all lovely, friendly and very well looked after. This is now one of my favourite cafes and I will 100% be returning soon. I highly recommend visiting!
